The Birth

[Swiftfoot[Is Leaving]]

Standing on Stonybeach,Swiftfoot smiled into the river's water.Her reflection stared up at her,blurred by the current and the veggitation(SP?) that called it's depths their home.She looked down at her clearly swollen stomach and winced as a sudden shock of pain shot through her abdomen(SP?).She lay down,panting hard as she tried to scream out for help.She knew it was time for the birth of her kits and begged them silently to hang on untl someone arrived.In between hard,shallow breathes,she spoke."Help!"She yelped,her words strained and raspy.Another pain came and her vision blurred with painful tears as she waited for someone...anyone.

[Ferny]

Splashheart had been trotting along the river when she saw a cat laying on the ground. She trotted ove, then she realized it was Swiftfoot. "Swiftfoot! Are you ok!" she said as she ran up.

"No!"She said,wincing with unhidden pain."It's my kits!They're coming!"She screamed,opening her eyes a bit.

Splashhearts eyes widened. "I'll go get Lillyfeather!" she said spinning around.

Swiftfoot made an attempt to nod."Fine...but hurry!"She rasped,holding in screeches as yet another pain replaced the last one,though it was longer and even more painful."Oh please hurry!"She said desperatly,wondering where Silvershadow was.

Splashheart sped through the reeds and grasses headed for camp.

frostkit watched as Swiftfoot wailed in pain. She knew how bad Swiftfoot felt for the kits were coming earlier than everybody expected.

Swiftfoot glanced over,the scent of another kit hitting her hard.She recognized the kit and gave her a soft,painful smile.

A silver tom entered the river area. He quickly spotted his mate, Swiftfoot, on the edge of kitting. He raced over and silently touched her cheeck with his nose. "Should I get Lilyfeather?" He paced the beach, pushing away the thought of the last cat he knew to give birth here. Silverstream, which he got his first name from, mate of Greystripe, yet they were of different clans. He flicked the thought desmissively away, but it stayed on the corner of his mind. He shifted through the list of bearly remembered herbs he had once known. But soon found that he forgot everything about birthing. Try not to panic, he licked the cheeck of his mate, murmering a encourgaging meow.

Swiftfoot flooded with relief at the sight of her mate.She smiled at him,though her eyes were dull and sparkled with pain."Someone's already on that job.."She said,referring to his question.",and all I want you to do is stay with me."Her voice was soft and cracking as another pain shot through her swollen abdomen.

"I'm here." he said shakily. THese things always unnerved him. His tail flicked twitchily behind him and his ears were flat aginst his head with worry. " You'll be fine." he said comfortingly, weither to her or him, it didn't matter. All that mattered was that they were all, kits and mother, ok in the end.

[Lilyfeather]

"I'M HERE!" Lilyfeather meowed (rather loudly) as she emerged from the reeds, closely followed by Splashheart (Sorry for the Charrie abduction!). Her words were mangled, though, as she carried a collection of herbs in her mouth that weremaking it difficult to say anything coherant. Quickly, she ran up to Swiftfoot's side and placed the bundle on the ground. The looked over the Queen with silent eyes, analyzing the situation. "Here" She mewed, pawing the usual herbs for birthing towards Swiftfoot. "I need you to eat this. Okay?" The medicine cat nodded to the she-cat and pawed the herbs a little closer to Swiftfoot's head so that she could reach them.

((Okay, that sucked. Sorry! I'm in summer mode!))

Silvershadow let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding as the medicine cat appeared. With a controlled breath, he bent and licked Swiftfoot's cheeck. He hated the thought he did that to her, but worse, she let him. Which made him feel a smudge better. "You'll be fine." he repeated, this trime more hopeful. [/glow]

Swiftfoot took the herbs without thinking.She chewed slowly,her sides burning.She looked up at Silvershadow,her eyes warm but shaded with pain."I hope.."She whispered.She swallowed the herbs and closed her eyes.

[glow=beige,2,300]Silvershadow gasped in shock. HE sniffed Swiftfoot and saw her breathing. "Ok, you hope what?" he licked her cheeck, desparately worried for the life of his mate and unborn kit or kits. He whinned lowly and licked her cheeck again.[/glow]

She didn't know how to answer.There was so much to wish for..the health of the kits,the health of herself,the well being of her clan.She shook her head and closed her eyes."Everything.."She muttered softly with a weak smile."..but let's just get through this first."

[glow=beige,2,300]"Alright." Silvershadow couldn't possibly think of a better answer. He settled himself a tail lenth away and began to flick his tail, this time not freaked out, but simply deturmned. [/glow] ((When are the kits gona be born? like, for real?))

OOC: WHAAAAA!!!!!-SORRY! I WAS AWAY AT CAMP!

"Thats a good plan..." Lilyfeather said with a smile. She continued to sort the herbs at her feet-just in case Swiftfoot needed them. Wait... she thought. A change was smelt. What was it? The medicine cat once more looked over Swiftfoot's whole body. There it was-a head was emerging into the daylight. "Here it comes!" Lilyfeather mewed excitedly-with a slight hint of nervousness, as always.

[glow=black,2,300]Silvershadow yelped in suprise. The first kit was coming. "You are doing great! Keep it up!" he cried joyfully. THe first kit. A kit. Their kit, their second litter, which proves they are more than casual mates. Like others, who love and leave, they had united twoce to create something, a life. He swelled with pride at the she-cat he loved and the kit-or kits- to come. [/glow]

Swiftfoot felt the pain..the beautiful pain of one of their kits.Seh looked up at him,their gazes locking and she let a smile escape despite the pain.When the kit was finally born,she began to lick it like crazy,choking out the word,"Spottedkit."In between licks.She soon felt another one coming and she yowled out.

[glow=beige,2,300]Silvershadow bent to look at the new kit. "Spottedkit." He repeated firmly and gently lifted the kit a little ways away from he and began to lick it until it's breath was regular for many minutes. Then he set it by Swiftfoot's stumach to suckle. "You're doing great!" he purred and licked the she-cat's ear.[/glow]

She managed to mutter the word thanks when the second kit was born."Tearkit."She said,smiling once again,as she felt her heart almost melt.The pain in her stomach started again,distracting her from her kit,she was so thankful for Silvershadow and Lilyfeather and reminded herself to tell them later as she winced.

Silvershadow scooped the next kit, Tearkit. "Hello Tearkit." He purred through licks, " I'm your father." When the kit was at a constant breathing rate, he settled it beside his older sybling and licked Swiftfoot comfortingly. "You can do it!" he cried joyfully.

[Lilyfeather]

"Ah, you're doing well, Swiftfoot!" Lilyfeather cried joyfully as she looked over the three perfectly healthy kits. She was as happy as the Queen and her mate themselves at this new arrival. Or rather, arrivals.


OOC: Oh. Well, it was fun. But I guess I forgot to say I would be gone! Sorry!

Swiftfoot tried to smile through the pain,but it came out as a grimace.Within moments,the final kit was born."Mistkit."She whispered,taking a deep breathe.She sighed with relief at the fact that they were all healthy and she gave Lilyfeather and Silvershadow a small smile.

Lilyfeather checked over the last kit excitedly. This one, like the others, was healthy. "Congradulations, Swiftfoot!" she cried happily, smiling to the queen. "Three healthy kits!"

[glow=white,2,300]"Congratulations love." he whispered in her ear after Lilyfeather was done with her 'grats. The kits were adorable! Mistkit, Spottedkit and Tearkit. Beautiful names for beautiful kits. "You did well." [/glow]

[Swiftfoot[Is Leaving]]

"Thank you."She whispered to both,her eyes moving to the kits.She smiled and her eyes gleamed with pride and joy.

Silvershadow, happy second time parent, watched his mate and kits with a equally glowing eyes. He knew he couldn't compete with a mother's love for her kits, but he had the next best thing. Moonclan blood. It fueled a quite specail ability to have an extreme sence of protectiveness toward his family. Not that other cat's don't but he would kill his own sister to protect his offspring and love. [/glow]
