Reflections

Autumn hit the ice with her paw as hard as she could. It sent waves of pain through it and she had to grit her teeth so she wouldn't yowl. Despite the pain, she was pleased to see the ice give way to reveal clear rushing water. "Water." She murmered, savoring the word. She glanced around, making sure no one was nearby, before lowering her head towards the wter and taking a drink. It took a moment to quench her thirst, and the cold water caused to shiver. Pulling her muzzle out of the water, she saw her reflection in the water. There was large scars of blistered skin visible where the fire had scarred her. Her hair was in disarray and it was hard to tell she was a cat. She stared at the water for a moment before closing her eyes and lowering her head back into the water. This time she didn't take a drink, but just let the cold water rush over her face. After a moment she lifted her head again,shaking the water off her face. Looking back at the water as it settled, she noticed that now there were now two reflections in the water...

A gray pelt moved slowly through the forest. This was Thunderclans side of the terratory. This gray pelt belonged to a she cat named Fernleaf, on her way to the river. She was hoping to see her sister whom was in Riverclan. Wlkaing slowly to the river side she glanced up it then down it. Darn, shes not here she thought in dissapointment. So she made her way towards sunningrocks, and spoted a diffrent cat. It didn't smell like a Riverclan cat so she approched carefully. Hello? She called as she got closer.

Autumn hissed, turning to face the stranger. The moon shined on her scarred face, and ragged pelt. Autumn knew she looked like anything other than a cat. Her claws were out, and flashing in the scarce light. "Leave me!" She yowled, trying to make her voice as angry and scary as possible. Autumn hoped to frighten this cat, or at least intimidate it a little.

Heavystorm, on the other side of the river, was walking alone, just thinking. The young warrior had no friends in RiverClan, but he couldn't leave Tearkit. That kit trusted in him too much. But, since she couldn't leave camp, he was out here, alone.

Then he spotted the two cats. "Heavystorm sees ThunderClan!" he whispered to himself. Getting as far near the bank as he could--he had a bad experience with water when he was young--he yowled, "Hey-ho to the ThunderClan! Heavystorm wishes to know what you are doing?" He noticed one cat with scars, but the other was clean. What had happened to her?

Fernleafs ears flatened against her head when the other cat told her to leave. She was on her side of the river, thunderlcan side so she didn't have to leave. I'll stay if I want she hissed. Turning to Heavystorm she nodded at him. Just seeing if Splashheart was here.

[glow=purple,2,300]"Fernleaf--You know that youarn't aloud to talk clanners outside your clans" said a voice.Soon a black and white she-cat appeared not far from Heavystorm.The she-cats glare didn't end upon Fernleaf though, it ended up on the loner Autumn.

The black and white cat~Blackthorn~ Couldn't help but feel angre of the loner cat to just walk right in like it was no one's territory."Loner,Leave now!"[/glow]

Autumn glared at lackthorn. She was slightly embaressed to be seen by so many cats at one time. Her shame did not show in her expression and there was only agression there. "Make me." She hissed, and took a step foreward, forgetting that the ice was thin for the moment. "I'm not going till I've finished drinking, and I don't think you can do anything about it."

[glow=purple,2,300]Blackthorn hated when people didn't respect her.When she was in Nightclan Everyone lisened to her, she was second deputy and not afraid to prove it.

Blackthorn lowered her head in anattacking posistion, she puffed her pelt so she looked evein bigger."Second Warning--Leave" she hissed[/glow]

What was left of Autumn's fur bristled. She had been in plenty of fights when she was protecting her territory. "When I decide to." She growled. She took another step and, in her rage, didn't hear the ice cracking beneath her.

[glow=purple,2,300]Blackthorn, beingthe wise cat thatshe was, quickly herd the ice crack and planned out what would happen next."Don't move--Trust me If you come any closer youare dead!" Blackthorn hissed.Blackthorn relised that her words came out all wrong so it sounded more like a bluff then a warning.[/glow]

I know Blackthorn, Its just Splashhearts my sister, I thought she knew where Splashheart was, I was wrong. She looked at Autumn through narrowed eyes and sat down. She wasn't a Riverlcan cat, even though she wanted to come accross the river and attack the other cat she stayed where she was. It would have been embarassing if she attacked another cat without a reason.

"Am I?" Autumn hissed, thinking the warning was really a threat. She took a step foreward and she felt her heart leap as her paw broke through the ice. She looked down. "Oh." Seh said, finaly understanding what Blackthorn had meant. She glanced up, not sure what to do as the ice began to crack and give way around her.

[glow=purple,2,300]Blackthorn gave a worryed flick of her tai, she had to save the Loner."Don't move, keep your paws on the ice"She yowledand glanced at Fern"Hurry go get someone who can help!" she said.Blackthorn still hadn't learn to swim from hertime in Riverclan so she wouldn't be able to save her.but she was a good leader.

"Loner, take deep breaths keep your head high!"[/glow]

The ice was cracking rapidly and all of Autumn's paws were getting wet. Well, I wanted to get clean, she thought jokingly to herself. It didn't help and Autumn felt rising panic. The ice gave way beneath her and she fell into ice cold water. She yowled and tried to hold onto the edge of the ice with her claws.

[glow=purple,2,300]Blackthorn quickly ran over to the Loner and sat her paws on Autumns paw.Then tryed to pull hr up, but the water was like another cat that was stronger then blackthorn so all she could do for Autumn was to keep her head above water."Don't give up!'She yowled.

Blackthorn turned to fern"Get someone HURRY!!!" Thewater soon would drag both of the cats down."HURRY!!"

Fernleaf nodded and stood up, turning she raced back towards the thunderclan camp, to get the one cat she thought could help.

Racing into the camp she headed streight for the warriors den. Tigerheart? she called as she got closer. Tigerheart was her brother, he used to be a rouge, and was a good swimer. Ceirtantly he could help. She walked into the warriors den to see Tigerheart looking at her.

What is it?

A loner is in trouble at the river, can you help? she asked. oh please help Tigerheart she thought.

Standing up he shook himself and walked towards Fernleaf. I'll try, what part of the river?

Just follow she begged as she turned around and ran towards the entrance.

They raced to the river and Fernleaf skidded to a stop next to it. Blackthorn, Tigerhearts here. she panted as her brother ran in behind her.

Tigerheart ran to the edge of the water and looked at Autmn, then to Blackthor. Just tell me what to do. he said to Blackthorn.

Blackthorn gave a hiss of disaprovle.She was hoping that Fern would get some one..well..loyal."Ok Mousebrain, you have to jump into the water and push Autumn up onto the thick ice!"[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Burningwing leaped out of a bush her eyes both were wide. "What happened!' she turned and saw the loner trying to hold on to the ice. Even though Burn was in Thunderclan she had been a loner before and new how to swim perfectly. Slowly she edged over to the side of the river. The ice was thin and cracked fast. She tried to think fast. "I can do that!" she meowed ergently [/glow]

I'm not mousebrained! Tigerheart spat before leaping into the cold water. He had been in thunderlcan for several moons, he never really had wanted to leave, it was his father who made him. Swimming over to Autumn he placed his shoulder against Autumn's Hip, and shoved.

Autumn slipped, her claws gaining no purchase on the ice. When Tigerheart pushed against her, she managed to get one of her front legs onto the ice. Her relief turned to panic as the ice broke again and her head slipped under the water.

Heavystorm watched the transaction of words with a calm face. He had no quarrel with Blackthorn--otherwise the former rogue would be gone from there--nor Autumn, who interested him. He partially ignored Tigerheart, because he didn't know him.

When Autumn slipped, he dove onto the ice, sliding to get to her, and splashed into the water. He pushed his head under her hindpaws, the cold of the water taking his breath away. He even forgot that he was afraid of water! HIs nose soon lost its way on his face, as did his paws as he desprately tried to push Autumn up.

Autumn felt the water pushing down on her, and for a moment contemplated giving up. What use was there to go on? Her two legs were dead, and her home was in ruins. She let go for a moment, but than snapped out of it. This wasn't how she was going to die. She gathered all her strength and tried to push upward, scrabbling at the ice. For a moment she didn't think she was going to make it, but than Heavystorm came beneath her and helped push her up. She climbed onto the ice quickly and turned to help the cats who saved her from a watery doom.

[glow=purple,2,300]Blackthorn quickly ran over to the loner to make sure she was ok."Looks like a few good rest and you will befine" she saidash she walked over to Heavystorm to help himup.Blackthorn slowly felt thewater with her tail tip, it was ice cold andtook Blackthorn's breath away liket hat.[/glow]

Heavystorm grunted his way up onto the ice, claws scrabbling to get a hold. He shook icey water from his black pelt. "Heavystorm thanks you," he said to Autumn and Blackthorn. "Now Heavystorm wishes to know why everyone has gathered here?" he mewed questioningly.

"As I'd like to know who this Heavystorm is." Autumn replied, slightly testy from her unexpected bath. She shivered, her fur dripping. She bit her tounge, regretting her words. "Sorry. I was getting some water. I don't know about the others." She glanced around the small group of cats, wondering what their stories were.

[Nightfur and Co.]

"Heavystorm be's I," replied the thick-set tom. "Heavystorm talks funny, everycat says he does. But Heavystorm likes this way of talking, being different than other cats." He grinned. "Now Heavystorm wishes to know this she-cat's name, yes he does. So he can call her by her calling instead of saying 'cat'."

"The she cat agree's with you and says her name is Autumn." Autumn replied, teasing the tom. "It's good to be unique... in a good way of course." She added, remembering her own diference from other cats.

Heavystorm purred deeply, closing his eyes half way in happiness. "Heavystorm thinks it is nice to meet Autumn. He also thinks she has been through a lot, has she not?" He blinked at her. He had always been different, and this cat intrigued him to the point where he almost burst with questions. But he contained himself, knowing he tread on raw ground.
