Resting on the Border

[Lilyface]

Lilyface looked one way then the other before crossing the Thunderpath. She reached the other side and turned, waiting for Flamefur to join. She realised that Lemontail had died on the Thunderpath and Lilyface hoped that Flamefur wouldn't be overcome by grief.

[Flamefur]

Flamefur shuddered as a monster flew by he looked both ways and bolted making the otherside safely. He hung his head as images flashed through his mind of his dead mate Lemontail. He shook his head and stared at Lilyface lovingly.

[Lilyface]

Lilyface walked up to Flamefur and rubbed herself around him in comfort. She purred quietly before leading the way to a clump of bracken. It provided good shelter as the heat was stored up in its leaves.
"Are you Okay?" She asked gently.

[Flamefur]

"I t-t-hink so," he suttered and lowered his head ashamed that Lilyface had to see him like this.

[Lilyface]

"It's alright. No cat can blame you for being sad." Lilyface soothed Flamefur by gently licking his face. She decided that it was not the right time to share her news with him.

[Flamefur]

Flamefur nodded and licked Lilyface on the ear, "Thank you," he murmered.

[Lilyface]

"You know I love you," Lilyface purred. Maybe it was tim to share her news afterall. "Um. . .I hope I say this right. . .Flamefur, I'm going to have out Kits." She looked into his eyes as she said this, hoping against hope that he wouldn't think it was too soon.

[Flamefur]

"W-w-what? That's great!" he purred happily as he rubbed her neck.

[Lilyface]

Lilyface purred loud and long. The look of love was still in her eyes as she gazed at him. "I can't wait for them to be born. I wonder if they'll look like you?"

[Flamefur]

"Maybe, but I'm sure they will all have your beauty!" Flamefur's face darkened as the thought struck him. What about his kits? how were they going to react?

[Lilyface]

Lilyface saw Flamefur's expression turn from one of joy to one of pain. "Flamefur, what's wrong?" A thought popped into her mind. "Do you feel you are being unfaithful to Lemontail?" A look of hurt came across her face.

[Flamefur]

"No, Its not that at all. I am sure Lemontail would have wanted me to have another mate. Its... my kits. How will they feel? What if they think that I am betraying their mother?"

[Lilyface]

"They're old enough to fall back to petty jealousy," Lilyface reassured him. "And if they do, well, we'll still have each other." She tried to smile but she was worried about what Flamefur's Kits would say. What if they tried to split herself and Flamefur up!?

[Flamefur]

"I hope your right," he said. "How do you think Windclan will react to the news?"

[Lilyface]

"Silverstar is more reasonable than Moonstar. She and Brightstar knew the old ShadowClan Leader, Swifttail, and both of the RiverClan Leaders since the dog seige, Redface and Firestorm." Lilyface let Flamefur change the subject.

[Flamefur]

"I see, are we going to go there today or rest here for the night?"

[Lilyface]

"I should like to make the journey today. Something tells me that RiverClan shall need us. . ." Lilyface mewed. She got up and began to pad in the direction of WindClan Camp.
