Yet Another Dangerous Stunt

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura walked over to the edge of the cliff and looked down. The water looked fairly deep below them. Further down Sakura saw rapids, and shuddered. Rapids always led to waterfalls. Sakura sat down and patiently waited for Niche

Niche padded up to Sakura, danger glinting in his eye. He stared down below at the dark churning water, and his paws tingled with anticipation.

"This should be fun and interesting" He mewed.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura nodded, excited. She bunched her muscles, and sprang downward towards the water.

[Meerful]

Niche followed quickly after her, plunging into the open air.

Sakura hit the water, making a splash. The rush of cold surprised her, and she quickly swam to the surface.

[Meerful]

Niche smacked into the water before he went under, and the pain lanced along the tops of his paws. He yowled, but water gushed into his mouth, and he came up sputtering.

"I didn't do that with much grace" He choked.

Sakura laughed, but it was cut off by water flooding into her mouth. She coughed, then groaned.

"Wanna go again?" She asked.

[Meerful]

Niche grinned and nodded.

Sakura nodded. She climbed out of the water and raced back up the cliff. Excitement made her unable to wait, and again she dived in.

Niche was still walking up the cliff as he watched her plunging down ward. To him, all he saw was a rush of fur and a blur of colour. He smiled, and ran the rest of the way up, bunching up his muscles, and thrusting his body into the air.

Sakura landed in the water, getting a familliar rush of cold. She hoped that they didn't get caught in the current doing this. Who knew where it would take them? Coughing Sakura emerged to the surface.

Niche splashed in right after her, letting his body slide down deeper and deeper into the cold murky depths.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

"Niche?" Sakura mewed when Niche didn't come up. She saw his body sink deep into the water.

"Niche!" She cried plunging under. She swam toward him.

[Meerful]

Niche felt his lungs start to gasp for air, so he used his strong paws to guide him upward. When his head broke the surface, he couldn't see Sakura.

"Sakura?" He mewed uncertainly, his voice shaky.

Sakura saw Niche swim up, and started to follow when she felt a force pulling her back. Oh no...

Sakura frantically swam upward. She saw Niche, but felt herself being dragged by the current.

[Meerful]

Niche turned and saw her being pulledby the current, and he desperatly swam towards her, trying to get a grip on her when he was close enough... The current started to pull him as well.

Sakura gasped at what was ahead. Rapids. This was not good! Sakura's eyes widened as she saw Niche coming toward her.

"Get back to shore!" She yelled.

[Meerful]

Niche let the current pull him along. It was the two of them living together, or dying.

"I'm not going anywhere" He mewed, his voice amazingly calm. Each wave crashed on him, pushing him and pulling him. Niche finally felt himself smack into Sakura.

Sakura nodded. She looked at the shore just passing by. Sakura was surprised at how calm Niche sounded. As he smacked into her she flew over a wave, landing with a splash. For a moment she didn't emerge, as if she couldn't. But then the familliar tortoiseshell head poke out, gasping for breath. She tried to swim toward Niche, but the current kept pulling her along.

Niche kicked his legs out hard, gliding with the current instead of against it, hoping he could just get is teeth on her neck. As he got closer, her noticed some rocks ahead.
"Climb onto the rocks" He mewed to her, thinking critically about how they were to get out. The huricane of waves almost drowned his words away.

Sakura barely heard Niche. She looked at the rocks, and braced herself. She lunged for the first one, but her claws scraped against it and she fell back into the water. She tried again for the second one, and made it on. She waited for Niche to pass by. When he would get close enough she would grab him.

Niche felt his body twist with the current, and he closed his eye, knowing he was about to drown if he didn't act quick. Surging against the water, he clawed against a boulder, and felt his claws scrape it, split and fray. He slipped back into the waves and was swept farther downstream. Niche took one deep breath as he passed Sakura, and plunged under water.

Sakura lunged for Niche, but he was underwater before she could grab him.

"No!" Sakura cried. She wanted to jump in, but if she did she could drown. Deciding she would rather drown then have Niche drown, she plunged into the water, allowing the current to take her.

Niche hoped Sakura would save herself as he plunged even deeper. The undercurrent was softer her, less eager to wrap aroudn his body and twist him like a vine. Here he swam easier until he felt his head hit the shore. He came up coughing, water splashing from his body as he clawed towards the shore.

Niche stared out towards the rocks, and noticed that Sakura was missing. "Sakura you twit" He yowled, searching the waters for her, his fear making him feel angry. At that moment, he wanted to kill her, but he wanted to protect her more than anything. Reluctance went through him as he got back in the water and once against felt the torrent pull him like a teddy bear.

Sakura didn't hear Niche. His voice was drowned out as she went under. The current was finally starting to weaken. She thrashed about, but suddenly felt something grip her leg. She tugged and looked down. Her leg was caught on some sort of underwater grass.

Sakura tugged, trying to get to the surface. She was losing her breath fast. Sakura knew what she had to do, but it was risky. She swam downward and bit the grass, getting it off instantly. She immediately swam upward, nearly getting unconscious. Finally she emerged, coughing and groaning.

Sakura saw Niche in the water and started to swim toward him.

[Meerful]

Niche plungec back udnerwater, and opened his eyes. The water stung and was extremely cold, but he didn't care. Niche swam forward until he caught site of Sakura's thrashing feet. Surging forward, he latched onto one, locking in his last breath of air. Colours began to dances in front of his eye as he continued onward, trying desperatly to reach shore. Suddenly blackness over took him, and images of his family popped in his head, but he refused to give up. With his last drop of strength, he heaved himself and Sakura onto the muddy bank. His sides bobbed up and down, gasping in the precious air.

Sakura let out a gasp of air as they reached the bank. The water roared, as if angry for their escape, making Sakura shiver even more. She just laid there, trying to get energry back. After a moment she looked over to Niche, whos sides were bobbing up and down at a great rate. She started to stand up, but her legs felt asleep and she fell back down again.

Niche had finally sucked in enough air to speak, a deranged and crooked grin spreading across his water drenched face. Little drpolets splattered off of him, making the sand underneath him turn a darkish colour, and stick to his fur.

"We- we should do that agian, sometime" He choked out, his eye sparkling at her.

"Yeah" Sakura breathed "But next time, lets try not to nearly drown"

Sakura's pelt was plastered to her body, making her look smaller then she usually was. Her breaths were coming in short gasps.

Niche rolled over a bit, wincing as the breath wooshed out of him. He pressed his body up to her, and purred.

"Ah, but then who would I get to save?" He whispered.
