Shadows on the Moon [[Sakura and Kits Only!]]

Quick and lithe, a small figure darted across open ground, a clearing washed in moonlight. You couldn't quite make out what it was for it was covered in shadows, as though the light couldn't reach it, even when it was right upon it. The leonine figure streaked past, silhouetted by the moon. Flowers were at full bloom all around, like beautiful wreaths of all things good, sweet, pure, of beauty and grace. Each petal waved gently in a warm summer evening breeze, almost dancing like a flame in a fire as they reflected the moonlight and fluttered about. The trees shook slightly, making beautiful noises of the wind, letting everything know that summer was here.

A trail of blood marked where the figure had been, glimmering faintly in the moonlight. Bright crimson, the red liquid reflected the silvery sheen, unaffected by the haze. Looking closer, you could just make out the shape of a cat, small, three legged, and you could just barely tell there was only one glowing iridesent eye. Continuously, it fled onward, the dead body of a marmot in it's mouth, paws pounding, tail flailing behind it like a streamer. The light of the moon bonced around, yet it never seemed to light the pelt of the swift cat as it streaked through, farther and farther into the forest. The trees were becoming darker, less alive, and full of the very essence of the word 'spooky'. The cat seemed to slow as it neared a large thickety and well covered bush.

Finally it came to a complete stop, glancing back and forth, frotn and back, and then carefully placing the dead animal at the entrance. Swiping it's tongue across it's lips, it approached and silently entered. Niche. He stood still as a board, hoping he wasn't waking anyone up. He had four beautiful healthy kits he had to support, and he didn't want anything to happen to ever disturb them. When he walked in farther, he softly whispered his mate's name, hoping that at least she was still awake so she could eat. Niche really wanted her to eat, in fact, he'd practically shoved her mouth full of food ever since she'd given birth. He wanted her to have plenty of milk for the kits, and plenty of actual food to help her thrive as well. As he waited for a reply, he swiftly turned around and fetched the prey, placing it inside. The whole den sparkled softly with moonlight.[/glow]

"I'm awake" Sakura whispered, trying not to wake their kits. Her tortoiseshell pelt gleamed in the moonlight that washed into the den. Five healthy, adorable kits slept near her stomach.
"How was the hunt?" Sakura asked when Niche entered.

"Daddy?" Ariona mewed. She opened her eyes that were starting to lose their kit-blue color, and turn into an orangish color. She yawned a soft, squeaky yawn and looked up at him.

Pulse opened his eyes. He hadn't heard Ari, but he felt the vibrations of his father arriving. His eyes showed tiredness, and he shot Ari a glare.
" Some cats would like to sleep!" He hissed. Ari stuck he tongue out at him.

Niche gingerly stepped in between the kits and Sakura, so as not to step on any of them. He placed the marmot beside Sakura, and smiled crookedly, his eye gleaming with pride. Niche stared around the den, and noticed something. With the tips of his claws, he pushed more bedding beside Sakura and the kits, he didn't want them to be uncomfortable. As soon as he'd heard Ari, he felt a flooding of warmth surge through him, and he agin lit up with pride. Clearing his throat, he replied, "The hunt went fine, I found something big and nice for you." Niche leaned over and licked Sakura's head. He turned to Ari, and leaned down and did the same. "Hello Ari, you should get some sleep. Pulse, don't be mean to your sister." Niche knew he was wasting his breath talking to Pulse, but he fervetnly hoped Pulse would be able to udnerstand what he was saying, even if he was deaf. Sitting down, he tucked his paws in, and laid next to Sakura.

Granite slowly opened his icy blue eyes, seeing nothing but darkness. He whimpered slightly, wishing he knew what everyone was doing. Everytime they went somewhere new, it took him forever to adjust to what was going on. He scented his mother, and pressed himself up against her, fear making him feel weak and exposed. Granite flicked his ears, and began to patter at some pebbles on the ground, his fear slowly ebbing away until he was absorbed in what he was doing.

Growling, Kodiak opened his eyes and hopped to his tiny paws. Why had he been woken up? Who did this? What was that? Kodiak began looking around, and spotted the marmot. It was huge! Kodiak wondered how his father had killed it, even with just three legs. He felt a tremor roll along his spien at the thought. Blinking, his chocolate brown eyes were wide with wonder. Then, after just one other blink, he was angry and grumpy again. "Why did you wake me up? I was sleeping. You're mean Ari, maybe if you weren't so loud Ari, we would all be sleeping." Kodiak mewed. His logic didn't make much sense, but at least he was bullying someone.[/glow]

"Thanks" Sakura purred, giving Niche a quick lick on the ear. Sakura gently licked Granite as he pressed against her. She took a bite of the marmot, immediately realizing how hungry she was. But she still wanted to share, after all Niche was the one who caught this.
"Wanna share?" She asked "There's plenty"

Ari hissed at Kodi. "You're a bully" She mewed, though she knew she probably didn't hurt Kodi at all with that statement. She flattened her ears against her head.

"She started it..." Pulse grumbled. He read his father's lips when he talked, that's how he knew what he was saying. The kit muttered something inaudible and laid his head down on his paws, trying to sleep again.

Granite tried to imagion the pebbles under his huge paws. Yet what color were pebbles? If he only knew. Granite stared at were he belive his father was, sence Granite was deaf and his nose couldn't smell all he had left was the taste of the air and the sound of the beating hearts of cats he was really staring at Ari.

Niche stared at the marmot, his mouth watering. The whole time he was bringing it back, he had struggled not tp rip it apart. His licked his lips, but shook his head. She needed it more than he did, and if something happened, like if she lost her milk like his own mother had, he would never forgive himself. A dark look came across his face as he wondered how his father could be so mean and ruthless to his mother, but he quickly shook his head to clear it of the thought, and focused on his family, his small group of the most beautiful faces he had ever seen. He cleared his throat.

"No, eat as much as you want, I'll take what's left, and if there isn't any, I can catch something else. You don't worry about me, just yourself. It's my job to take care of you so I can take care of our kits. Just as it is my job to protect you." Niche grinned, knowing Sakura probably felt annoyed by the fact that Niche didn't think she could protect herself, though, secretly, she was probably pleased. Then he turned to Pulse, and grinned. "Sleep well." He murmered. Amused, he averted his gaze to watch Kodiak and Ari. Those two never seemed to get along, but their fights were so comical, he felt compelled to watch, and break them up only when Kodiak got too rough or Ari got hurt. "Brhave you two." Niche mewed sternly.

Kodiak rolled his eyes at Ari. "Well, duh, being a bully is what I do best. Besides, it's not my problem that you can't take a few insults and swipes. I mean, how can one cat be as weak as you are? Did you forget to eat, or do you jsut not know how? Poor kitty, you never had a chance." Kodiak taunted Ariona, trying to make her cry. He loved to mess with her, to make her upset and mad. He knew he'd get int trouble later, but it was totally worth it. Flexing his claws, he waited for her reaction.[/glow]

Sakura was about to point out to Niche that she could protect herself, but stopped. She knew he was just doing this for the best for her and the kits. Sakura took another bite, watching Ari and Kodi fight. If it got out of hand she'd break it up.

"Shut it!" Ari hissed, tears starting to come to her eyes. She hated when Kodi made fun of her. She was the smallest of the litter, even though Flare was the youngest.

"Will you both shut it?!" Flare hissed opening her eyes "I would like to sleep" She agreed with Pulse on one thing, she wanted to get some rest. Seeing her father she mewed "Hi dad"

[glow=red,2,300]Niche grinned at Sakura, resting his head on his paws, his eye aimed upward, gleaming at her full of love. "Sakura, I love you." He almost laughed. She was funny. He knew she bit back a retort. He looked over at Flare. He flashed a smile at her, and narrowed his eyes playfully. "Hey Flare, don't get snippy now, I caused all this so technically you're snapping at your father." Niche teased her. Then he turned to look at Ari and Kodi. He began to bite his lip, knowing he'd have to end this fight soon. "Kodiak" He said in a low warning voice, almost dangerously.

Kodiak lashed his tail, almost jumping at her, but he flattened his ears to his headnad crouched low when he heard his father. "Tsk. Poor you Ari. You'd be a better kittypet, you don't have what it takes to be a loner. You're just too weak and soft and breakable and fragile and easily manipulated. In fact, let's see what else you can do! C'mon Ari, show me." Kodiak challenged, jumping to his paws, and glaring at her, his whoel obdy posture screaming at her to submit to him, to prove that he was the most dominant. A menacing growl formed inthe back of his throat. He matured fast, and he no longer sounded as high pitched, but not quite mature.[/glow]

"I love you too" Sakura purred. She shot Kodiak a warning glance. She looked at Pulse, asleep at her stomach. She purred softly and licked him gently on the head.

Pulse's ear twitched, signalling he felt his mom.

"I'm not a kittypet!" Ariona hissed "I belong here just like any of you!" Ari let out an angry hiss and lunged for Kodi.

"Sorry dad" Flare mewed. She laid her head back on her paws, but kept her ears open for her brother and sister's fight. It usually could get interesting.

Granite hated when his brothers were mean to Ari, he wanted to help her but then his brothers would be mad at him. Granite soon sented tear's in Ari's eyes and knew he had to do something, "Fighting will not get us back to sleep" He tried to catch his words but it was too late. Fear flooded over Granite,"I meen- if you want to..don't lisen to silly little me" he whisperd

[glow=red,2,300]Niche smiled at the three kits who were actually behaving, then he let out a warning hiss to the other two, tensed. He'd haveto get up in a minute before Kodiak pinned his sister, or vice versa. Niche purred at Sakura, and licked her ear. He moved his paws, ready to leap up at a moments notice... Or a kitten's cry.

Kodiak lightly stepped away from Ari. "Yeah you are. You know you are. That's because you're such a weakling. Wimp!" Swiftly, he turned and jumped, hoping to land on her and pin her to the dirt. A loud growll erupted from his throat, and he defiantly crashed down. If Ari wouldn't submit to him the easy way, then he'd just have to make her. The moonlight seemed to light Kodiak up, making him look like a demonic spirit sent to kill everything in his path.[/glow]

((Granite isn't really that fearful. He just is disturbed by the night. Sometimes he can beat Kodi in a fight"

Sakura watched Niche, knowing he would stop the fight if it got out of hand. She watched carefully.

Ari was pinned to the dust by Kodi and let out a squeal. "Stop it!" She cried, kicking with her paws.

Pulse groaned, thankful at the moment to not have hearing.

[glow=red,2,300]Kodiak smirked, and pressed her harder into the dirt. "You're getting what you deserve. Maybe if you tried harder, you mgiht be a little stronger than your average kittypet." Kodiak grinned.

Niche took a sideways glance at Kodiak and nodded at Sakura. Immediatly he hopped up, and with a single movement, lifted Kodiak up, and pushed Ari back onto her feet. Walking back over to Sakura, he set Kodiak down in front of her, his eye glaring at his brown son.[/glow]

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura shot Kodi a stern look.

"Kodiak" She mewed "Be more gentle with your sister" She could feel Ari's gaze burning into her pelt and nearly smirked. She could tell Ariona was thinking "I can take care of myself".

Ariona glared at her mother for a quick moment. She could handle herself. Oh how she wanted to sink he claws into Kodi right now! She wasn't a kittypet! Ariona growled and laid her head on her paws.

[glow=red,2,300]Kodiak glared, he almost leaped at his mom. Why couldn't their parents let them do what they want? His claws dug into the ground, little, but larger than most cat's, holes were made. Kodiak turned around swiftly, and with stiff legs, spat an apology to his sister. He turned back around, and sat down besides his father, his fur bristled with hostility.

Niche watched his son, and had an approving look on his face. Although Niche knew no harm would come of Kodiak now, he feared what his son might do in the future. Guilt hit him almost instantly after the thought passed. Have more faith in him Niche! he growled to himself.
"Sakura, I think we should all go back to sleep now." Niche suggested. "I'll keep watch"[/glow]

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura nodded. She stiffled a small yawn and mewed "Ok. If you get tired you can wake me up." She laid her head on her paws and mewed to Kodi and Ari, "Kits, time to get some rest." [/color]

Ariona nodded. She stuck her tongue out at Kodi before laying her head on her paws. She closed her orangish eyes and curled her tail around herself.

[[Niche is going to go outside to watch, for now I'm going to rp Kodiak.]]

Kodiak suppressed a growl, and went over to lay down right beside her, pretending to circle around to make a comfortable, but purposely stepped on Ariona's tail. He smiled to himself, and laid down, stretching his legs out and kicking her with one of them. Then he pretended to look sorry. Kodiak turned his head and grinned.

Sakura closed her eyes, but kept her ears open for any fights between Kodi and Ari.

Ari let out a furious hiss.

"Mouse-brain!" She spat at Kodi "I'm trying to sleep." She kicked Kodi with her back leg, claws unsheathed. Sure her claws were small, but they could still sting for awhile.

Flare's eyes opened little slits showed a sign she has had it. She let a loud growl rumble out through her throat. "Will you two Quit with you absurd Fighting." her growl rumbled around the room as her fur fluffed up and her claws unsheathed and she looked at the two with angered eyes. Her dark flame colored pelt fluffed out like a dandelion's seeds. "Grow up and get some rest!" she yelled at them as Ari hissed at Kodiak.

Flare resettled herself down in her mother's soft delicate fur, breathing in her warm scent of Milk and that's special Mommy smell that made flare feel all fuzzy inside. Flare slowly closed her eyes sleepily, her anger was now gone as she felt sleep wipe her out like the plague.[/glow]

Sakura gently licked Flare's head. She purred as her daughter snuggled close to her. She shot Ari and Kodi a glance. She saw Ari kick Kodi.

"Stop it you two" She mewed sternly.

Ari muttered something in reply and sheathed her claws, laying her head on her paws.

[glow=red,2,300]Flare let out a warm light purr as her mother licked her head. She felt the cold wind brush up against her, she quickly nesstled in the warmth of the fur.

Flare's eyes were held tightly all that surrounded her was blackness sweetly the dreams came to her, it all seemed to fade away. Things came and passed but one stayed and it scared flare terribly.

Bright light flashed crashing sounds boomed around her light flooded the room scaring flare half to death. Her spine felt like claws scraping up and down making her bleed. Rain flushed down, wiping out the forest all of it was gone, dark, the snapping of trees. Flare shook underneath the power of what she saw, she trembled with fear as the water came toward the den. a white screen flashed against her eyes. She woke up a panting breath that could not stop gasping. Her dark eyes searched the room her mother's fur, her brothers that slept beside her.[/glow]

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

"Are you ok, Flare?" Sakura asked in a concerned voice. She gently licked her daughter's head in comfort. Ariona looked like she had fallen asleep. The young cat wrapped her tail around her kits.

Kodiak growled. Then he put on a pouty faced look that begged for forgiveness, but Kodiak didn't really mean it, but he knew he could use it to get his way.

"Mommy, Ari kicked me nad Flare called me the m word!" Kodiak mewed pitifully, faking a sniffle as he crawled over and pushed himself against her, hopings he'd fall for it and scold Ari and Flare.

Sakura sighed. She gently licked Kodi's head and turned to Ari and Flare.

"Ariona, Flare, say you're sorry to Kodi" She ordered.

"But he started it!" Ari complained. After a stern look from Sakura she mewed "Sorry Kodiak..."

Flare hissed and nodded to her mother, "You Liar, no one is eva gonna believe you because you lie so much.."she trailed off and added, "I did not call you a mouse brain..." she meowed and then whispered quietly "even though I wanted to" only she and Ari could hear what she whispered, "don't suck up to mommy like you always do." she hissed and shot a menacing glare to Kodiak.[/glow]

Kodiak made his lip tremble, and he let himself shriek pitifully.

"Flare's predicting that my life will be horrible and that she wanted to cal me the m word and called me a liar! My sister's hate me! I might as well just run away!" Kodiak spiced it up a bit, sniffling.
