Morning light filtered into the Nursery, beams of it cascading down onto the small ginger kit's body. The kit lay still, her head resting on her black paws. Her half-tail just barely touched the ground where she lay, a permanent scar of the day the fox attacked her and her friend. It was a small disadvantage for her, for now it would be harder just to balance as she climbed. But the kit wouldn't let that affect her.
Orangekit blinked open her amber eyes, yawning in the exhaustion that she felt. The young kit was nearly six moons old- soon, very soon, she'd become an apprentice. Possible mentors swirled through her mind. She knew very few warriors, and doubted any would want to mentor such a shy, quiet little kit like her. Most cats wanted apprentices who were at least willing to make a conversation with them. Orangekit was the opposite of that, and didn't usually speak unless spoken to.
Sitting up, Orangekit allowed her eyes to wander around the Nursery. She hadn't seen her brothers, Oakkit and Thunderkit, or sister Wishkit in awhile. As they grew older, they had all started to drift apart. She hadn't seen her friend, Sleepkit, in awhile either. Truthfully, Orangekit hadn't seen any kits in the Nursery, and it made her feel rather uneasy. Though being in large crowds unnerved her, so did being alone.
Right now the small kit wanted nothing more then to play a game. She didn't want to feel lonely. She wanted to become an apprentice. She didn't want to remain a small, meek kit for the rest of her life. Sighing, Orangekit looked around, hoping to catch sight of a cat that wanted to play.
