How much trouble can one cat get into? How many adventures can they have before they end up killing themselves? Blackpaw would probably be the first cat to find out just how outrageous an apprentice can get. She would, or Severedclaw would.

The bushes quivered with the passing of a monster that had just sped by. It's terrific roaring was heard far into the forest, catching the attention of the undersized apprentice who was having a go at her bad hunting skills. Gold owl eyes wide with wonder, she walked stiffly to the growth bordering the Thunderpath- a place she had never seen. Pass through the bushes, or stay on the safe side?

What a mouse-brained question, what else would you do?

Blackpaw turned from the bushes, padding away. She had walked quite a distance before she suddenly whipped around and streaked back. Big eyes wide with excitement and mouth gaping in a victory yowl, Blackpaw leaped over the plants.

Her paws landed on the black ground of the Thunderpath. She slid, scraping her pads. She hadn't been prepared for the rough surface. How do monsters run on this thing? Whimpering, Blackpaw lifted a little foot and licked it tenderly. She had to stop hurting herself. Mintflower was probably tired of her!

She stiffened. The ground was...vibrating. She lifted her head in puzzlement, putting her paw back down. Why would the ground be vibrating? Blackpaw lowered her nose and snuffled the path. It stank with an unpleasant smell. A roaring was rising. Blackpaw's fur stood up, and she turned her gaze down the Thunderpath.

A shiny, huge creature was rumbling to her. Watch where your going...

The air had a slight breeze to it. The leaves rustling about, with no consequence. The forest just seemed to be singing a soothing lulluby.

Sleeppaw had been following Blackpaw's scent for a while now, just wondering where the little brat had gone. After Sleeppaw found out where she was headed, he started to pick up his pace. After a terse moment, he had seen Blackpaw jump through some bushes onto the Thunderpath. Fear spiked at Sleeppaw. He had remembered stories about cats getting squashed on the thunderpath cause of the roaring monsters that passes through.

Sleeppaw imeadiately rushed out onto the Thunderpath, standing next to Blackpaw. He noticed that the ground was vibrating, which told him that a monster was coming."Blackpaw! What are you doing on the Thunderpath. We need to get off before that monster hits us!" Without waiting for an answer, Sleeppaw jumped back into the bushes, off of the Thunderpath, waiting for Blackpaw to do the same.

"Blackpaw! What are you doing on the Thunderpath? We need to get off before that monster hits us!"

Sleeppaw was there and gone so fast, Blackpaw barely noticed him. She whipped her head around to see where he was, the tell-tale trembling of the bushes the only sign of where he was. The monster was gaining, it's rumbling becoming loader and loader. With a terrified yeep, Blackpaw turned and chased after Sleeppaw just as the monster passed. It tugged her fur, but she was already safe on the forest floor. Panting, she turned her gaze up to the other apprentice.

Sleeppaw was relieved as Blackpaw finally jumped back off of the Thunderpath. Without hesitation, Sleeppaw started scolding Blackpaw," What in Starclan's name were you doing on the Thunderpath! You could've gotten yourself killed, then I would've had to of dragged your limp body back to camp." Sleeppaw kept his rage flowing as he spoke." Do you even think sometimes!" Sleeppaw started to relax himself, knowing that he shouldn't of busted out like that. ".....Sorry" As Sleeppaw awaited Blackpaw's answer, he started grooming himself...

Blackpaw, still bristling, listened to Sleeppaw's rant. Slowly, anger crept in to replace her fear. Was Sleeppaw scolding her? Was he telling her what to do? Was he daring to be her better. He was just another apprentice, he had no authority over her! She didn't even hear is apology.

Leaping to her paws, Blackpaw yowled. "Shut up, Sleeppaw! You're not my mentor, so don't tell me what to do! If I want to go on the Thunderpath I will!" Her tail curled. The last thing she wanted to do was go back to the Thunderpath, but she wouldn't let Sleeppaw know that.

"I'll do whatever I want whenever I want, and no apprentice can make me do anything!"

Sleeppaw was more mad than before now." You must be pretty pathetic then. We are both apprentieces..but I seem to know a lot more than you! I swear, they probably aprienticed you to early, because you still act like a newborn kit! Stop being an idiot and breaking the rules! TRY to stay alive until you become a warrior, then you can go prancing on the Thunderpath all the time. Sleeppaw couldn't control himself. He didn't want to see his clanmate get hurt, and she deliberately tried to back there. Sleeppaw had lay down. He was very dizzy.

"I'm breaking the rules? What about you! You're always sneaking off to the WindClan border." it was a cruel blow, something Blackpaw shouldn't have said. It wasn't her place to challenge Sleeppaw with an accusation like that. But the little cat's famous hot temper was getting the better of her.

Tail lashing, Blackpaw began to stomp out a line back and forth in front of Sleeppaw. She was tired of the older apprentices, sick and tired. Farpaw never spoke to her much, but Bearpaw was mad the last time she was with him. And what did she do to make him mad? She didn't know. Bearpaw was just so moody sometimes. Then Ivypaw, well, Blackpaw couldn't really be mad at Ivypaw. The crippled apprentice had saved her life. She's still bossy, Blackpaw thaught stubbornly. Now Sleeppaw was telling her what to do too!. Well, she was going to change that right now.

"I can take care of myself." Blackpaw snapped, flashing a glare at Sleeppaw. "I don't need someone on my tail all the time. What do you or anyone care if I get hurt? I don't care. I can handle it."

Sleeppaw couldn't believe his ears. Blackpaw was actually bringing up the Windclan incidents. Sleeppaw tuned out the rest of what Blackpaw had said.Is she really accusing me of something that she doesn't even know all about."You don't ever! ever! accuse someone of something that you don't clearly know of. Do you even know WHY I sneaked over to Windclan so much?" Sleeppaw started to relax himself, preparing himself to tell the whole story." OK, here goes.

When I was two moons old, I met Eclipsepaw, a former Thunderclan cat, I immeadiately fell in love with her and we shard a special bond. Then, at about six or seven moons, she left Thunderclan and went to Windclan to live with his father. That dead was and has been my worst ever. After that I started sneaking out of camp to meet her at Fourtrees and sometimes in Windclan territory. But, after atleast a couple moons, Eclipsepaw's dad caught me, scolded me, and told me to leave her alone. I eventually had to.

One day though, we met at Fourtrees for the last time, and we decided to run away together. I am to leave very soon. There..theres my story."

Wait...Sleeppaw's leaving? For a runnaway ThunderClan apprentice? Where's this cats sense?

"That's...that's mouse-brained!" Once agin, Blackpaw was showing a complete lack of discretion. She just wasn't smart when it came to keeping her mouth shut. "What about being a warrior? What about the warrior code? E-Eclipsepaw may have been a ThunderClan cat once, but she left. That makes her a traitor!"

Blackpaw caught her breath. Sleeppaw was already mad, how fiercly woud he defend the cat he had chosen for his mate?

"Look," Blackpaw tried again, leveling her voice. "I don't know Eclipsepaw, but I'm sure she's great. That doesn't mean, though, that you should leave the Clan for her!"

Sleeppaw didn't really care for Blackpaw's words. He knew they were coming. Every cat that he'd ever told acted the same way."That makes her a traitor". those words burned Sleeppaw the most. After Blackpaw had finished, Sleeppaw replied sadly," Then I am a lover of a traitor...a traitor who has a heart. And stop telling me not to leave. It's a lost cause. I've made up my mind, and I've turned down warriors with the same answer, so don't think an apprentice will. I'm sorry I have to go, but I can't stay in Thunderclan without feeling imprisoned. Take care, Clanner." And with that, Sleeppaw walked away.

As she watched Sleeppaw pad away, Blackpaw's jaw slowly dropped. He was insane. Mind-wiped. Eclipsepaw must be either really pretty or extra special. But whatever Eclipsepaw was, Sleeppaw was still in front of her. She had a chance now to save a Clanmate or chase away a traitor. I'll show him, her mind hissed. For once, though, Blackpaw was really thinking.

With an irritaed sigh, Blackpaw bounded to Sleeppaw's side, and put a paw in frontt of him to make him stop.

"I'm mad," Blackpaw admitted grudgingly. "Because I'm losing one of my Clanmates. I'm sorry."

Sleeppaw stared coldly at Blackpaw as she stopped him. Just before he shoved his way through her, he heard her remark. Sleeppaw's icy gaze melted away instantly. She just doesn't want to lose a Clan member.. Sleeppaw replied calmly, " Oh, well, there's not a lot you can do Blackpaw. My mind's set and it's still a lost cause. the only thing you can do is to remember that I was once a loyal Thunderclan apprentice, and I am now a traitor to Starclan itself." Sleeppaw then brushed past Blackpaw and walked towards the kittypet place.

"You do know that just because you were loyal once doesn't mean that can ever remember as loyal now? Your leaving us for your own selfishness!" All this was yowled out in raging fury. Blackpaw watched Sleeppaw's receding figure, her heart twisting with pain and confusion. What love could be so strong that it would steal a cat from his birth Clan? She couldn't imagine ever leaving her Clan for anything. ThunderClan was everything to her, and the cats were closer to her than her littermates.

Sleeppaw couldn't believe his ears. Blackpaw actually thinks that I'm leaving his birthplace for my own selfishness, what a mounse-brained accusation! Sleeppaw stopped, turned around, and stormed up to Blackpaw. Fury and Sadness flushed into Sleeppaw's eyes." You think that I can still be a loyal cat, even though I'm deliberately breaking the warrior code?! AND that I'm leaving for my own selfishness!?...By Starclan, you are wrong....I can never be a loyal Clan cat ever again, and I'm leaving my birthplace for Eclipsepaw. I love her more than anyone and anything. But I guess you've never felt that feeling before! Didn't think so..." Sleeppaw never felt so angry in his entire life.

Blackpaw's breath caught in her throught. She crouched down, looking up at the apprentice towering above her. She listened to him telling her how wrong she was, all the while thinking how wrong he was. Poor, poor Sleeppaw. Love shouldn't make him leave his duty, his life. Blackpaw trembled, diverting her gaze. Never in her life had she wanted to hide from anything. Right now, she just wanted to get away from Sleeppaw.

"I love her more than anyone and anything. But I guess you've never felt that feeling before! Didn't think so..."

Blackpaw swallowed hard, not daring to look up. "Sleeppaw...I love my Clan."

Sleeppaw..I love my Clan Sleeppaw had never really thought about that until now. I do love Thunderclan. I really do. But...I can't live without Eclipsepaw.Sleeppaw gazed at Blackpaw apothetically."I'm sorry, Blackpaw, I still love Eclipsepaw more than Thunderclan. Thanks for atleast opening my eyes to something lost to me." Sleeppaw licked Blackpaw's ear, hoping for no rebelious action...

What can you say? Nothing can change his mind. You've told him all you can. He's too far gone.

Poor Sleeppaw, blinded by love. Strange how it could effect the mind, pull you away from everything good and familier. Make you take a risk you would ordinarily refuse. She'd never do what Sleeppaw was doing, even if she did think her emotions were as strong as he believed his. And she would never ask another cat to leave their Clan for her. It was cruel, tearing them away from their life. It didn't demonstrate love, just each cats selfish desires. The Clan wouldn't take this well.

"I'm sorry, Blackpaw, I still love Eclipsepaw more than Thunderclan. Thanks for atleast opening my eyes to something lost to me."

Obviously, or you'd stay. Blackpaw allowed Sleeppaw to rasp his tongue over her ear and offered a last friendly purr in return.

"I'll miss you, Sleeppaw. Everyone will." she blinked her golden owl-like eyes. They brimmed with pain, Sleeppaw's choice hurt her as it would hurt all their Clanmates. But Sleeppaw was gone beyond reasoning. The only thing that could make him change his mind was a very difficult, painful lesson that would eventually come like it or not.
