Three days. That's how long Tracker had been hunting this particular hare. He'd only stopped once to catch a mouse, and his stomach felt hollow. When he'd first scented the hare, he knew it would take time to hunt it down. It had been far, and would have taken a day to catch up with under normal circumstances. These weren't normal circumstances. Tracker had had to dodge twolegs and monsters to get to this point. The point where he was staring straight at his quarry, happily munching on some grass, unaware of its stalker. Tracker moved quietly. He'd gotten far, to far to lose it all with one false step. He opened his mouth, the tastes of the forest and river mingling with that of the rabbit. He could tell this was a clan's territory, and that there were a few of their warriors out tonight. I might have to fight for this meal... he thought to himself, but mentally shrugged. That sort of thing happened from time to time. His prey twitched, and his focus returned to the task at hand. He crept forward, and tensed himself to pounce. The smell of another warrior got stronger all the time. Don't mess this up for me, he silently warned the warrior before leaping at the hare. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Tracker pounced with claws outstretched and the hare turned to run...
