Blood Wars
Prologue
The Civil War: 1800’s
Little Round Top
Guns went off left and right as the fight to take Little Round Top begun. Blue jackets flashed among gray, everyone unsure if they were going to make it out alive that day. A thick line of Yankees sat stationed at the top of the hill, firing their muskets down upon the Southern boys, everyone was dropping like flies.
“Around the right flank! Come on boys get your selves over here!”
“sh*t!” Billy Matthews dropped down to the ground as one of his hometown-boys came tumbling towards him, his shoulder shot up and face full of agony. “Sam! Help me here!” Adrenaline was pumping through Billy’s veins, his heart beating so fast he thought he was going to have a heart attack.
Or he would have if his friend hadn’t of grabbed him and started to pull him towards the new right flank.
“We don’t want to be left behind, get your ass up and move Matthews!” Samuel Carlington clung to his borrowed musket in his right and pulled on his friends frayed arm sleeve. Blood pounded in his ears. “We have to get into the formation before we are taken out!”
Pushing himself up Billy clambered after his friend; they scrambled after their division, tripping over the bodies of their fallen comrades‘.
When they reached the line and started their ascent again it seemed as if hell had broken loose on the small hill, half of the Confederate division was gone, half of their life force was to far behind.
It was getting dark, the sun setting low in the evening sky. The assault would be cut off soon.
“Ah! “ To Billy’s right Sam twisted with a look of severe pain on his face, he grasped at Billy’s arm before falling to the ground.
A hot searing pain flashed in Billy’s stomach, he dropped his musket and reached for his stomach, a bullet grazed his arm and he fell, hard and fast. He hit the ground, not knowing whether he would wake up or not.
“The pain! Oh the pain!”
Billy blinked rapidly, reaching up to brush his brow; he did not know where he was or what was going on. Something thick and wet smeared across his forehead, it felt sticky like syrup. He pulled his hand back and sucked in a deep, painful breath.
Blood.
Everything came back in a quick flash, the shouting, the bodies, Sam, him being shot.
Sam!
Turning he saw his late friend laying on the ground beside him, his face twisted in an ugly grimace. Tears rolled out of Billy’s eyes as he turned away, the pain of loss and being shot finally came flooding back.
“Oh Why? Why!” Screams of pain rose over the single shots of suicide, shots of men that could no longer handle the pain and wanted it to end. “No, no I won’t go out like that,” Billy muttered as he rolled onto his side, his hand holding his side as he gritted his teeth in pain. “No, no, no!”
“Shhh.”
“What?” Rolling back onto his back Billy looked around, eyes unfocused. “Who are you?”
“Veronica Smith.” With a beautiful fluid motion a tall, elegant looking young woman stepped out from the shade of the trees into a patch of moonlight, her bright green eyes glinted.
“Get away from me!” She is a witch, I know it. Why else would she be on the battlefield? He turned his face away, shaking his head.
“You want to live don’t you?”
“Of course I want to live!” Is she stupid? Billy thought as he turned his pale looking face to look at Veronica, his mind was whirling because of the loss of blood. “What do you mean?”
She walked forward slowly, her long black hair waving gently in the breeze caused by her movement. “I mean do you want to live?” She smiled a beautiful smile, white teeth flashing in the moonlight as she escaped from yet another patch of shadows. She stopped at his left shoulder and knelt down, she gently touched his shoulder. “I can save you.”
“How can you do that?” He gulped and forced a small smile, a slight chuckle. “Ha. I’m sure you can, you’re like... A witch right?” He laughed at himself, and at her, he laughed because he wanted to reassure himself he would be fine. “But yes I’d like to live.” He looked to her with an apprehensive look.
“A witch? Something like that.” She smiled and lifted his chin. “Hold still.” Slowly she bent down and sunk her long canines into his neck.
Billy’s eyes grew wide, he now knew she was a vampire, he opened his mouth in a silent scream, but slowly, oh so slowly. The pain ebbed…
EDIT: Now that I read over it it is rather sad compared to my writing in AP English now. It'll need some working. lol!
Now for something else!
The following are stories/short stories that I wrote as a freshman. I just enjoy looking at writing in the past and now. lol.
Golden rays of sunlight sprawled across the blood stained sky. Stars from the previous night fading away into red morning sky. A gentle breeze blew the darkened clouds towards the southern part of the forest. Browning leaves of the maple trees fall lightly to the ground, and blowing away in the breeze. Thunder was heard in the distance more towards the mountains, but coming this way. Icy blue eyes stared at these clouds and listened to the thunder rolling across the forest.
Great, another Thunderstorm this young tom thought. He was smaller than most cats, gold to the eye but crested to the fur. His paws and face, along with his tail, was dark brown color with darker stripes. His eyes were stained an icy blue, a gaze that could paralyze any cat whom dared to betray him. His claws were longer than most, and they helped him a lot when it came to battle, and his teeth well they where white but in history they were bloodstained.
Flicking and ear in annoyance he turned around on the thin branch he sat upon. Flexing his long claws he leaped onto the ground and turned to face his closest friend, and sidekick. “Come on Rakat we need to get back to the tribe.” Turning his back to the thunderstorm that rolled towards them he padded forward.
“Ok Copper” Rakat answered. Rakat was a very dark pelted tom that almost looked black. But that wasn’t just it; he also had lighter chestnut stripes that went from his head to the tip of his long tail.
Dark paws padded through the darkening forest as the thunderstorm rolled closer. A yowl of distress rose above the thunder echoes coming from farther down the canyon. Ears perking Copper and Rakat speed up until they were racing side by side through the ferns. Skidding to a stop Copper slowly moved forward towards the clearing that they called a temporary camp. Sitting in the center of the camp was the young queen Fern, and another cat, only that one wasn’t moving. The she-cat let out another yowl of distress, then the gray striped she cat bent her head down and nuzzled the small cats pelt. Copper stopped in his tracks and gazed forward “Rocky….”
Another cat rushed forward and sat down next to Fern, he started licking her forehead. “Janix, what happened here?” Copper asked as he slowly walked forward.
Janix looked up, sorrow glistening in his yellow eyes. “Rocky was playing with the other kits when the banished came and attacked them, the others got away but they snatched Rocky” the gray tom dropped his silver head to touch Ferns. Glancing up at Copper, with a weak voice he asked, “Copper, why do the Banished insist on following us and killing of some of us? Why don’t they just leave?” He sat up now silvery ridged chest fur puffed out and mouth parted in a snarl.
“They want revenge Janix, now we need to get moving, we’ll morn for Rocky when we find shelter, a thunderstorm is coming and it looks pretty bad. Ger some of the elderly and lets have them burry Rocky, ok?”
“Yes Copper” Janix answered slowly as he rose to his paws and pulling Fern away.
Fern bared her white teeth in a snarl “If I ever see a Banished cat again I’ll kill it!” she spat as Janix pulled her away. As they left a black tom approached Copper. He had blue eyes, and the thickest build in the group “Copper, Alu and I are ready to move Rocky” His blue eyes showed sadness but he was ready to uphold his position as Tribe elder.
“Alright Tak, carry him out and make sure Fern and Janix are there.”
Soaking wet paws plodded their way over a mountain ridge. The golden brown tom, Copper stopped and waited for the rest to catch up; except he was no longer golden he was a dirty looking brown. His blue eyes were dull and defeated, he had leaded his tribe all this way to lose a kit and suffer through the freezing wind. Dropping his head he turned and padded back to the front of the group and Rakat. The dark brown tom just looked at Copper and shook his head.
Sun shone down upon the tribe of cats as they made their way along a narrow edge on a mountain side. “Watch your steps!” Copper shouted from the front o the line. Just as the path started to widen out Copper sighed, finally the end of the dangerous rocky ledge, oh Rocky. Turning around he watched as the cats came along the ledge, but then he noticed something dark in color. “Eagle!” Copper spat as the large bird flew in at the cats. Yowls of terror rose up amongst the cats and they rushed forward, A few kits ran forward and crashed into elders and adults, hisses were heard.
“Lilly!”
A voice rose above the rest as the yowls of terror died out. All of the cats froze and looked out into the skis as the eagle tumbled downward trying to fly away with the she-cat. Copper looked to Rakat and then turned to race down the mountain side.
Slowing to a stop, Copper panted and looked around. He was off of the mountain now and was in a small forest at the base. The eagle had flown down here some where, now to find it. As the golden tom walked forward he heard a growl or a cat, and it was close. Perking his ears he walked forward and peered beneath a small bush. Under the bush sat Lilly the small she-cat that was being trained in fighting skills. Her teeth bared and she flew out of the bushes bowling Copper over. Copper hissed and unsheathed his claws; putting his back feet on her belly he pushed her off spatting “Lilly It’s me!”
Lilly turned; she was bleeding from each shoulder and panting heavily. “Copper, I’m so sorry”
Copper just nodded and walked over to Lilly, she leaned against his shoulder. Just then Rakat and Ryaco padded out of the bushes. “We left the tribe to look for a place to call home, we think we found it but we’d like you to look at it.” Rakat announced.
“Come one sweetie, I found some herbs that’ll make your shoulder feel better.” Stated Ryaco as she walked over.
Copper walked out of a fern bush as he followed Rakat to the new camp. He didn’t think it would be that far away, but with an injured cat it took longer. Hearing the familiar voices of Alu and Tak made Copper happy, they made it. Walking out from behind a tree Copper gasped, it was beautiful. There were rock walls that stood very high, and there was a small spring of water that flowed over them. It was like paradise. Small indentations in the walls showed that there were hollowed out spots that could make great dens, and the high walls showed a great security. “This is perfect Rakat” Copper purred as he padded forward and gazed at all of the walls.
“Lilly, I’m proud to announce that you are now an adult, well trained in hunting and fighting!” Copper announced from a small rock that elevated him off the ground.
Lilly smiled and looked down, shy. Finally she got what she was training for; she was a well trained adult cat. Sitting up she puffed out her chest and smiled; now she wouldn’t be watched all of the time. Suddenly a yowl of protest arose from behind the cats, and the happiness evaporated. Every cat turned to see a large black and white tom cat standing at the entrance to their home “I think there won’t be any more adult cats in this tribe, just injured ones.” The tom bared his teeth in an ugly grin.
Coppers eyes widened and his claws unsheathed.
“Miss me Copper? Your old sidekick oh wait no I was supposed to be leader, me Denark. But no, you had to steal that from me.” He hissed out the words and then flicked his tail, one by one the banished cats flooded the clearing, kits and queens ran into their dens and adults and apprentices lunged at the intruders.
Copper looked around Denark had disappeared in the crowed, but then something hit him from the side sending him flying from the rock. Hitting the ground knocked the air out of him but he still sat up to see Denark smiling at him as he strolled over. “Come on Copper get up I won’t hit you while you’re down.”
Copper clenched his jaw and stood bearing his teeth at Denark and flexing his claws. Folding his hind legs beneath him he leaped at Denark, landing on his back. Hooking his claws into Denark’s fur he growled and hissed. Hissing Denark rolled over and flung Copper from him. Leaping to his feet he lunged for Coppers throat. Copper hissed and kicked his back feet out. Jumping up he saw Rakat bleeding from one shoulder but managing to fight off an old tribe member by the name of Regenet.
Denark flew forward and knocked Copper over, but not totally. Copper clenched Denark’s heavy dark fur and scratched as well as yowled. But Denark was older and stronger than him. He easily tossed Copper aside and scored his claws down his flank. Copper gasped and clawed at Denark’s eyes, but missed. Denark pinned Copper down, and placed a paw on his throat. He smiled evilly and said “Too little to late Copper, this is the end.” Copper kicked up with his hind legs and knocked Denark off, and against a rock. Denark didn’t move, he lay there and looked at Copper he just bared his teeth and said a few last words “This isn’t the end”
With a start Copper woke from his nightmare. Sitting up in his bed of grass he looked around, shaking. Then he heard a yowl arise from outside. Walking forward with staggering steps Copper looked outside to find a black and white tom standing at the entrance with his teeth bared and carrying the scent of a banished cat, Denark. Copper gasped, his nightmare may have just become a reality, only there was one thing missing, Lilly had gotten killed by the eagle and he hadn’t made her an official adult. “Come on out Copper I know you there!” yowled the angry banished cat. Flexing his claws and bearing his teeth Copper exited his den and stalked across the clearing to stand in the center. “No one touches Copper” Denark growled, “He’s mine.”
Moral: Don’t doubt your dreams, for they may tell the future.

Shadowed Hearts (shorter version)
Golden rays of sunlight sprawled across the blood stained sky. Stars from the previous night fading away into red morning sky. A gentle breeze blew the darkened towards a small town. Browning leaves of the maple trees fall lightly to the ground, and blowing away in the breeze. Thunder was herd in the distance more towards the mountains, but coming this way.
He went by the name of Copper, which was what his lightly colored blue collar said on the tags. He lived with a nice family, a man and a woman, and one other cat, Tommie. Tommie was a long haired gray cat with white paws and underbelly; she also had a light green tint to her golden gaze.
Shaking his head the golden cat stood and turned around on the narrow roof top. Crossing the shingles carefully, as he did everyday, stopping at the edge of the roof he placed his front paws on the ledge, and leaped. Landing lightly on the floor boards of the wooden porch he entered the house through a plastic flap in the door. Shadowed by the early morning sun the golden brown tom moved towards his dish, a navy colored cat bowl with his name imprinted on it. As he sat down to drink the milk from it he was startled by a booming voice coming from just behind him.
“Ah! Good morning my boy, nice nap I presume?” This was Jake, Copper and Tommie’s owner. He was a rather tall man, and heavy at that. He had brown eyes and black hair and a soft side like no other. He was married to a wonderful woman named Molly; she was at least an inch shorter than Jake and had blue eyes and brown hair. Copper just answered with a small mew. Then turning back to his milk dish he drank happily.
“What are we doing out here Tommie? I mean we’ve gone so far from home, I wouldn’t know witch way the fence was!” Scowled Copper as he followed his gray white friend.
“Not far now, trust me were almost there”
Blue eyes flashing in anger Copper followed. Paw step by paw step he grew tired and longed for the soft blue plaid bed of his back home. “Tommie” He whispered.
“Ok Copper, like it or not were here”
Looking up he spotted a small clearing ahead, small but big enough to fit four or five cats into without protest. Tommie leaped up onto a nearby rock and yowled an unfamiliar name.
A small rustle sounded in the bushes just beyond the point they stood, on the other side of the small clearing. Just then a small dark cat walked out. He was colored a deep brown and had lighter chestnut stripes that ran down his back and up his tail. His eyes were a startling ice blue, almost white and he has a scar that ran down his left flank. “Rakat!” spat Tommie. “You were supposed to meet us days ago”
“Oh yes, I know Tommie I got caught up with business.”
“Enough Business to ignore the higher class?”
“It was the higher class that asked me to do that business. Now tell me, have you brought him?”
Copper crouched, belly almost touching the ground next to Tommie.
”Yes he’s here”
Copper flashed an ungrateful look up at Tommie, had his friend brought him here to get killed? Or send him away? All these thoughts were racing through his head when he heard a magical voice rise above them “Please come out young one, don’t be afraid”
Stepping every so lightly out of the ferns and other undergrowth he stared at the other cat. He realized that Rakat wasn’t just a normal average cat you’d see, he was sleek and slim but all together very well muscled. “Alas, you’ve come” Rakat whispered half to himself.
“So what you’re telling me is that some honored warrior that needs to fulfill his destiny?”
“Yes, pretty much”
“But not! Trust me I am no fearless warrior whom will make legend I am a simple housecat proud of his life.”
“If you wish not to try, I will not force you” Rakat answered simply, “I will not force your decision, I am simply a messenger.”
“A messenger? There’s more of you!”
“Three others, but that’s not for now w-“
“I’m sorry, you have the wrong cat” With that he spun around and stalked out of the clearing and over to Tommie. “Lets go” his order was short and direct. Tommie nodded and led the way.
By the time the two cats reached the north end of town it was raining, and thundering.
“I told you it was going to rain!” He shouted over the Thunder.
Tommie didn’t answer; she was to set on getting home. Turning right they entered a dark ally “you sure this is the right way?” Copper asked uneasily as the temperature cooled and a chill moved up his spine.
“Shadow! We have intruders” spat a dark striped tom as he stalked forward towards a large blue dumpster. As he spoke a pitch black tom strolled out of the darkness and passed this striped cat.
“Ok, follow me now Tiger.” He ordered
Tiger nodded, and said nothing more.
POEMS
Wrote these last year for creative writing
#1 Reality Check
Welcome to the
Reality check
A task for every talent
With the earth in mind
For the long run
Remembering
It’s your environment!
Make a green choice
See how we got here
The Greenhouse Century.
#2 River of Regret
I can take the rain off the roof of this empty house
But that don’t bother me
What hurts the most
Was walking with the current and the rocks
It could have been risky
I remember looking up
Getting up, getting dressed, livin’ with this regret
But I’m doin’ it
Looking up from the rocks
From the cold
Begging you please don’t go
#3 Lonely Morning
I look upon the dawn each morning
It’s just another day
Swinging a hacksaw the good ol’ way
Makes me kind of want to sway
Left foot to right foot - slip slip slide
Put your right foot in and take your left foot out
Kick someone you hate and punch them in the neck
Just because no one cares anymore.
#4 Spring water,
Hear the drizzle of the rain,
Oh the rain, rain, rain,
Washing over the smooth,
The round, the oval rock,
How it moves so melodiously,
Shifting, sliding, trickling too.
Oh the spring!
The natural spring!
Moving away dear spring,
Moving away,
Leaving your old lands behind,
With the rain,
The rain, rain, rain.
#5 Windy Night
Wild wind whistling from the west
Rain piercing down like delicate bullets
Pushing, pounding, pouring on the tin roof
Echoing in silence the pushing, pouring, pounding
The smell of rain with the windows shut up
Brilliant bright flashes of lightning’s greatest desire
Hearing the horrible croaks, roars, and screams
Of the thunder half spent
With the swish, swash, squish
Of the approaching footsteps.
#6 Dear Spring,
Dear Spring, Dear Spring
As a broad round pool
Your water so fresh and crisp
The bright moon smiles upon you
As crystalline stars reflect brilliantly back at the world
Cool rain drops slap your surface
And the small ripples echo throughout
No ugly rocks or dieing leaves
Tarnish your memory
You are fresh, beautiful, memorable
The gentle trickle of the stream marks your source
The source of your gentle nature
The source of clean fresh water
The silent fish swims in your depths
His long webbed tail gently pushing him forward
This place is calm, beautiful, complete
The moonlight sends and eerie glow
A glow to illuminate the surroundings
To reach out and tough you
Is a simple sin
So I settle for staring at your pristine surface
Dear Spring, Dear Spring
#7 Ode to the Siamese Cat,
Dear Siamese
Such attitude
And elegance.
Placed into one
Body,
One mind.
Not one soul,
One being,
Compares to your
Simple existence.
Shunned,
By most,
Loved by few,
Simple elegance is simply
Not enough
For some people.
Some people can not
Stand
Your independence
And your intelligence.
Tabby, silver, chocolate,
You name it.
You cover all the
Breeds
All the bases.
You are simply
Perfect.
#8 Crazy
I am crazy
Yes, yes they call me that
A smile, a purr, a twitch of a whisker
Nothing gets their undivided attention
So I gallop on by, waving at them
But they just smile and continue walking
The day is good, fine, dandy
Today they waved back!
Oh happy darling day!
How I’m oh so loved
I must be crazy
#9 Bank heist
Shiny tile white as snow,
Covers the floor from door to door.
My silent footsteps fell unheard amongst the crowded room.
She stood scowling at her little records,
She withdrew a flat smooth paper and smiled at the person
As she laid a bundle of cash upon the table.
The bank holds so many treasures,
The cash so neat and orderly, so easily accessible!
So yes, I stepped into the line and waited for my turn,
‘Twas awhile I waited till the hour was mine,
A simple moment in an hour of time.
‘Everyone get down!’ I remember shouting,
And so I waved and shouted commands,
if only they would listen to me.
I must not have frightened them with my bright blue jacket And my worn down jeans,
My black mask looked funny, it looked hilarious.
So they laid on the floor,
The hard white tiled floor.
I pointed my gun at them.
And so I did it!
I tried to rob that bank.
They were scared, but I could tell that some of them.
Some of those brute strength men,
Could have hurt me!
Oh how that could have been horrid.
But I did it for a cause, my mothers cause.
She had her medical, her expensive medical,
I was only going to take a few hundred!
A few hundred to pay off some of her bills
So I robbed that bank, I do admit.
But I did it for my mother,
My dear sweet mother.
#10 Scotland (HORRIBLE! when I first wrote it...still a bit iffy)
My gaze jumps from lake to lake
The small windows of the lake side cottages
Wide open revealing pies ready to bake.
Green is no stranger to this wide track of land
It is covered in lakes, trees, and of course rocks!
Oh how it would be grand.
The common sea birds squawk a horrid sound
If only they could learn when to be quiet!
They must be homeward bound.
Castles dot the hillsides with their stony collapsing walls
Their once brilliant beauty slowly crumbling away
The wild wilderness calls.
Tall elaborate ancient buildings dot the landscape
I wonder if every one of them contains a secret tunnel
Hopefully no one needs a quick escape!
A place you will never leave tanned
The land where my ancestors are from
I love the beautiful, the glorious, the wonderful, Scotland. #11A Moonlight
The moon is so bright
A paper thing wind whistles
As you take your walk
#11B Sunshine
The brilliant sun
Shines upon the morning dew
As you wake today.
#12 Dreamland
Once upon a dark midnight the
Moon shone so bright that I
Thought that I could see all the strange
All the dark shapes that lurk
Within the withering grasses
Of the thick pine forest
But of course I could have been wrong
Because all along I
Never realized that I was
Asleep and dreaming now.
#13 Flight
I want to see your heart take flight
To see it shine as bright as day
But you keep it shut out of sight
Even when I ask for your hand at night
You turn away with a nay
I want to see your heart take flight
Crazy days should never end in a fight
And you turn away with your heart gay
But you keep it shut out of sight
You push and shove me out, that is my plight
My unloved world seems so gray
But I want to see your heart take flight
So I now realize it’s not right
To fight for your heart as I may
When you keep it shut out of sight
So it’s time for me to stand up to my full height
When I know I love you pray
I want to see your heart take flight
But you keep it shut out of sight
#14 Forest, Fire, Water
Mine, said the forest,
Mine is the world.
I breath for all,
Such is my affinity.
I rule this world,
My world, alone.
Mine, said the water,
Mine is the weather.
I keep everyone alive,
Without me you would perish.
I heal the world,
My world, alone.
Mine, said the fire,
Mine is the life.
I keep things interesting,
Destruction is my game.
I enchant the world,
My world, alone.
As forest takes water,
Water smothers fire,
And fire burns forests,
They all stand together.
For mine is the world,
As the world is yours,
With forest, water and fire,
We will all live forever.
#15 Dream Déjà vu
Candle flames flickered gently,
In the midnight breeze.
And candle wax dripped slowly,
Unto the crystalline dish.
He touched my hand lovingly,
My heart leapt to my throat.
We were both dressed neatly,
In a dressy dress.
Mine was dark blue and silky,
His tux was dark and fabulous.
My heart beat fast, but steady,
He took my hand and held it tight.
“I will find you my sweetie,
Await the day I arrive.”
He took both of my hands in his and held them tightly,
And looked into my bright hazel eyes.
I knew this was a dream, and would wake and want to see him badly,
Perhaps this will be Déjà vu.
I can definitely see him clearly,
In my future
#16 Future
A turn,
A twist,
A snap decision,
The time seems to fly by
As your heart
Your mind
Races faster.
Run?
Hide?
Flee the scene!
Yes or no?
Your terrified eyes
Slide,
So slowly
To the broken
The shattered
The glass that resembles
Your future.
#17 Life’s agent
The mission is simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
But ones job is harder than you first think.
Your building walls and braking them down.
Left, to right, life or death.
We stare at the passerby’s.
Tick tock, which one next?
A flash glance, a quick snap decision.
Run faster, they’ll catch you.
You can’t look back, there isn’t a second chance.
Once in a life time experience.
And so I pull on my jeans,
Throw on a shirt and my jacket.
Then follow them by my belt and holster.
One quick glance in the mirror and I’m out the door.
Down the street, into my car.
Drive fast, get there fast.
Do not draw attention.
Walk in flash your badge.
“Yes, good day. Anything for me?”
No, okay, off to work.
Your mission is simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
This job is harder than you think.
Your building your credibility, and breaking others down.
Turn left, then right, this is life or death.
Do your research, pay attention,
The smallest detail counts.
Where does he get his coffee?
His morning breakfast?
What about lunch?
Never leave anything out.
So tick tock, the day winds down.
Another day tomorrow.
The mission was simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
The job was harder than you thought
You built your walls and tore others down.
Turn left, then right, this is life.
Not death.
#18 I am
I am the simple water rushing over the falls,
The cool water falling from the springtime sky,
The frozen water icy and sharp,
The burning hot water that scolds your skin,
The water rippling in the soft summer breeze,
The crisp refreshing splash that cools your day,
The dripping water fresh in the rain,
The calm before the black storm.
I am the simple water sitting still in the darkness.
#19 You
I want to be the wind that whistles through your hair,
The rain that cleanses you,
The fresh cool drink that excites you,
The sarcasm that enlightens your day,
The quick mind that helps you,
The awesome power that amuses you,
The strange beauty you look forward to,
The independent careful one.
I want to be the one that you trust.
#20 Hollow
I see the wild wind,
And the calm before the storm.
I see the awesome creatures that roam the forest,
They seem so wild and free.
I see the crisp water rolling over the water fall,
As it runs to its final destination.
I see the quiet sureness in your eyes,
The look you give me as you lie.
I see the cold beating heart,
The thing that keeps me from moving forward.
I see the sharp lies flying through your perfect teeth,
The words so cold and hollow.
I see you for what you truly are,
Hollow.

Blood Wars

He went by the name of Copper, which was what his lightly colored blue collar said on the tags. He lived with a nice family, a man and a woman, and one other cat, Tommie. Tommie was a long haired gray cat with white paws and underbelly; she also had a light green tint to her golden gaze.
Shaking his head the golden cat stood and turned around on the narrow roof top. Crossing the shingles carefully, as he did everyday, stopping at the edge of the roof he placed his front paws on the ledge, and leaped. Landing lightly on the floor boards of the wooden porch he entered the house through a plastic flap in the door. Shadowed by the early morning sun the golden brown tom moved towards his dish, a navy colored cat bowl with his name imprinted on it. As he sat down to drink the milk from it he was startled by a booming voice coming from just behind him.
“Ah! Good morning my boy, nice nap I presume?” This was Jake, Copper and Tommie’s owner. He was a rather tall man, and heavy at that. He had brown eyes and black hair and a soft side like no other. He was married to a wonderful woman named Molly; she was at least an inch shorter than Jake and had blue eyes and brown hair. Copper just answered with a small mew. Then turning back to his milk dish he drank happily.
“What are we doing out here Tommie? I mean we’ve gone so far from home, I wouldn’t know witch way the fence was!” Scowled Copper as he followed his gray white friend.
“Not far now, trust me were almost there”
Blue eyes flashing in anger Copper followed. Paw step by paw step he grew tired and longed for the soft blue plaid bed of his back home. “Tommie” He whispered.
“Ok Copper, like it or not were here”
Looking up he spotted a small clearing ahead, small but big enough to fit four or five cats into without protest. Tommie leaped up onto a nearby rock and yowled an unfamiliar name.
A small rustle sounded in the bushes just beyond the point they stood, on the other side of the small clearing. Just then a small dark cat walked out. He was colored a deep brown and had lighter chestnut stripes that ran down his back and up his tail. His eyes were a startling ice blue, almost white and he has a scar that ran down his left flank. “Rakat!” spat Tommie. “You were supposed to meet us days ago”
“Oh yes, I know Tommie I got caught up with business.”
“Enough Business to ignore the higher class?”
“It was the higher class that asked me to do that business. Now tell me, have you brought him?”
Copper crouched, belly almost touching the ground next to Tommie.
”Yes he’s here”
Copper flashed an ungrateful look up at Tommie, had his friend brought him here to get killed? Or send him away? All these thoughts were racing through his head when he heard a magical voice rise above them “Please come out young one, don’t be afraid”
Stepping every so lightly out of the ferns and other undergrowth he stared at the other cat. He realized that Rakat wasn’t just a normal average cat you’d see, he was sleek and slim but all together very well muscled. “Alas, you’ve come” Rakat whispered half to himself.
“So what you’re telling me is that some honored warrior that needs to fulfill his destiny?”
“Yes, pretty much”
“But not! Trust me I am no fearless warrior whom will make legend I am a simple housecat proud of his life.”
“If you wish not to try, I will not force you” Rakat answered simply, “I will not force your decision, I am simply a messenger.”
“A messenger? There’s more of you!”
“Three others, but that’s not for now w-“
“I’m sorry, you have the wrong cat” With that he spun around and stalked out of the clearing and over to Tommie. “Lets go” his order was short and direct. Tommie nodded and led the way.
By the time the two cats reached the north end of town it was raining, and thundering.
“I told you it was going to rain!” He shouted over the Thunder.
Tommie didn’t answer; she was to set on getting home. Turning right they entered a dark ally “you sure this is the right way?” Copper asked uneasily as the temperature cooled and a chill moved up his spine.
“Shadow! We have intruders” spat a dark striped tom as he stalked forward towards a large blue dumpster. As he spoke a pitch black tom strolled out of the darkness and passed this striped cat.
“Ok, follow me now Tiger.” He ordered
Tiger nodded, and said nothing more.
POEMS
Wrote these last year for creative writing
#1 Reality Check
Welcome to the
Reality check
A task for every talent
With the earth in mind
For the long run
Remembering
It’s your environment!
Make a green choice
See how we got here
The Greenhouse Century.
#2 River of Regret
I can take the rain off the roof of this empty house
But that don’t bother me
What hurts the most
Was walking with the current and the rocks
It could have been risky
I remember looking up
Getting up, getting dressed, livin’ with this regret
But I’m doin’ it
Looking up from the rocks
From the cold
Begging you please don’t go
#3 Lonely Morning
I look upon the dawn each morning
It’s just another day
Swinging a hacksaw the good ol’ way
Makes me kind of want to sway
Left foot to right foot - slip slip slide
Put your right foot in and take your left foot out
Kick someone you hate and punch them in the neck
Just because no one cares anymore.
#4 Spring water,
Hear the drizzle of the rain,
Oh the rain, rain, rain,
Washing over the smooth,
The round, the oval rock,
How it moves so melodiously,
Shifting, sliding, trickling too.
Oh the spring!
The natural spring!
Moving away dear spring,
Moving away,
Leaving your old lands behind,
With the rain,
The rain, rain, rain.
#5 Windy Night
Wild wind whistling from the west
Rain piercing down like delicate bullets
Pushing, pounding, pouring on the tin roof
Echoing in silence the pushing, pouring, pounding
The smell of rain with the windows shut up
Brilliant bright flashes of lightning’s greatest desire
Hearing the horrible croaks, roars, and screams
Of the thunder half spent
With the swish, swash, squish
Of the approaching footsteps.
#6 Dear Spring,
Dear Spring, Dear Spring
As a broad round pool
Your water so fresh and crisp
The bright moon smiles upon you
As crystalline stars reflect brilliantly back at the world
Cool rain drops slap your surface
And the small ripples echo throughout
No ugly rocks or dieing leaves
Tarnish your memory
You are fresh, beautiful, memorable
The gentle trickle of the stream marks your source
The source of your gentle nature
The source of clean fresh water
The silent fish swims in your depths
His long webbed tail gently pushing him forward
This place is calm, beautiful, complete
The moonlight sends and eerie glow
A glow to illuminate the surroundings
To reach out and tough you
Is a simple sin
So I settle for staring at your pristine surface
Dear Spring, Dear Spring
#7 Ode to the Siamese Cat,
Dear Siamese
Such attitude
And elegance.
Placed into one
Body,
One mind.
Not one soul,
One being,
Compares to your
Simple existence.
Shunned,
By most,
Loved by few,
Simple elegance is simply
Not enough
For some people.
Some people can not
Stand
Your independence
And your intelligence.
Tabby, silver, chocolate,
You name it.
You cover all the
Breeds
All the bases.
You are simply
Perfect.
#8 Crazy
I am crazy
Yes, yes they call me that
A smile, a purr, a twitch of a whisker
Nothing gets their undivided attention
So I gallop on by, waving at them
But they just smile and continue walking
The day is good, fine, dandy
Today they waved back!
Oh happy darling day!
How I’m oh so loved
I must be crazy
#9 Bank heist
Shiny tile white as snow,
Covers the floor from door to door.
My silent footsteps fell unheard amongst the crowded room.
She stood scowling at her little records,
She withdrew a flat smooth paper and smiled at the person
As she laid a bundle of cash upon the table.
The bank holds so many treasures,
The cash so neat and orderly, so easily accessible!
So yes, I stepped into the line and waited for my turn,
‘Twas awhile I waited till the hour was mine,
A simple moment in an hour of time.
‘Everyone get down!’ I remember shouting,
And so I waved and shouted commands,
if only they would listen to me.
I must not have frightened them with my bright blue jacket And my worn down jeans,
My black mask looked funny, it looked hilarious.
So they laid on the floor,
The hard white tiled floor.
I pointed my gun at them.
And so I did it!
I tried to rob that bank.
They were scared, but I could tell that some of them.
Some of those brute strength men,
Could have hurt me!
Oh how that could have been horrid.
But I did it for a cause, my mothers cause.
She had her medical, her expensive medical,
I was only going to take a few hundred!
A few hundred to pay off some of her bills
So I robbed that bank, I do admit.
But I did it for my mother,
My dear sweet mother.
#10 Scotland (HORRIBLE! when I first wrote it...still a bit iffy)
My gaze jumps from lake to lake
The small windows of the lake side cottages
Wide open revealing pies ready to bake.
Green is no stranger to this wide track of land
It is covered in lakes, trees, and of course rocks!
Oh how it would be grand.
The common sea birds squawk a horrid sound
If only they could learn when to be quiet!
They must be homeward bound.
Castles dot the hillsides with their stony collapsing walls
Their once brilliant beauty slowly crumbling away
The wild wilderness calls.
Tall elaborate ancient buildings dot the landscape
I wonder if every one of them contains a secret tunnel
Hopefully no one needs a quick escape!
A place you will never leave tanned
The land where my ancestors are from
I love the beautiful, the glorious, the wonderful, Scotland. #11A Moonlight
The moon is so bright
A paper thing wind whistles
As you take your walk
#11B Sunshine
The brilliant sun
Shines upon the morning dew
As you wake today.
#12 Dreamland
Once upon a dark midnight the
Moon shone so bright that I
Thought that I could see all the strange
All the dark shapes that lurk
Within the withering grasses
Of the thick pine forest
But of course I could have been wrong
Because all along I
Never realized that I was
Asleep and dreaming now.
#13 Flight
I want to see your heart take flight
To see it shine as bright as day
But you keep it shut out of sight
Even when I ask for your hand at night
You turn away with a nay
I want to see your heart take flight
Crazy days should never end in a fight
And you turn away with your heart gay
But you keep it shut out of sight
You push and shove me out, that is my plight
My unloved world seems so gray
But I want to see your heart take flight
So I now realize it’s not right
To fight for your heart as I may
When you keep it shut out of sight
So it’s time for me to stand up to my full height
When I know I love you pray
I want to see your heart take flight
But you keep it shut out of sight
#14 Forest, Fire, Water
Mine, said the forest,
Mine is the world.
I breath for all,
Such is my affinity.
I rule this world,
My world, alone.
Mine, said the water,
Mine is the weather.
I keep everyone alive,
Without me you would perish.
I heal the world,
My world, alone.
Mine, said the fire,
Mine is the life.
I keep things interesting,
Destruction is my game.
I enchant the world,
My world, alone.
As forest takes water,
Water smothers fire,
And fire burns forests,
They all stand together.
For mine is the world,
As the world is yours,
With forest, water and fire,
We will all live forever.
#15 Dream Déjà vu
Candle flames flickered gently,
In the midnight breeze.
And candle wax dripped slowly,
Unto the crystalline dish.
He touched my hand lovingly,
My heart leapt to my throat.
We were both dressed neatly,
In a dressy dress.
Mine was dark blue and silky,
His tux was dark and fabulous.
My heart beat fast, but steady,
He took my hand and held it tight.
“I will find you my sweetie,
Await the day I arrive.”
He took both of my hands in his and held them tightly,
And looked into my bright hazel eyes.
I knew this was a dream, and would wake and want to see him badly,
Perhaps this will be Déjà vu.
I can definitely see him clearly,
In my future
#16 Future
A turn,
A twist,
A snap decision,
The time seems to fly by
As your heart
Your mind
Races faster.
Run?
Hide?
Flee the scene!
Yes or no?
Your terrified eyes
Slide,
So slowly
To the broken
The shattered
The glass that resembles
Your future.
#17 Life’s agent
The mission is simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
But ones job is harder than you first think.
Your building walls and braking them down.
Left, to right, life or death.
We stare at the passerby’s.
Tick tock, which one next?
A flash glance, a quick snap decision.
Run faster, they’ll catch you.
You can’t look back, there isn’t a second chance.
Once in a life time experience.
And so I pull on my jeans,
Throw on a shirt and my jacket.
Then follow them by my belt and holster.
One quick glance in the mirror and I’m out the door.
Down the street, into my car.
Drive fast, get there fast.
Do not draw attention.
Walk in flash your badge.
“Yes, good day. Anything for me?”
No, okay, off to work.
Your mission is simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
This job is harder than you think.
Your building your credibility, and breaking others down.
Turn left, then right, this is life or death.
Do your research, pay attention,
The smallest detail counts.
Where does he get his coffee?
His morning breakfast?
What about lunch?
Never leave anything out.
So tick tock, the day winds down.
Another day tomorrow.
The mission was simple.
Get in, get out.
Do not be seen.
The job was harder than you thought
You built your walls and tore others down.
Turn left, then right, this is life.
Not death.
#18 I am
I am the simple water rushing over the falls,
The cool water falling from the springtime sky,
The frozen water icy and sharp,
The burning hot water that scolds your skin,
The water rippling in the soft summer breeze,
The crisp refreshing splash that cools your day,
The dripping water fresh in the rain,
The calm before the black storm.
I am the simple water sitting still in the darkness.
#19 You
I want to be the wind that whistles through your hair,
The rain that cleanses you,
The fresh cool drink that excites you,
The sarcasm that enlightens your day,
The quick mind that helps you,
The awesome power that amuses you,
The strange beauty you look forward to,
The independent careful one.
I want to be the one that you trust.
#20 Hollow
I see the wild wind,
And the calm before the storm.
I see the awesome creatures that roam the forest,
They seem so wild and free.
I see the crisp water rolling over the water fall,
As it runs to its final destination.
I see the quiet sureness in your eyes,
The look you give me as you lie.
I see the cold beating heart,
The thing that keeps me from moving forward.
I see the sharp lies flying through your perfect teeth,
The words so cold and hollow.
I see you for what you truly are,
Hollow.
