Early light filtered through the den walls, falling in dappled patterns across the moss nests. A soft green and gold glow rose from the shadows. In a corner of the nursery, an aged nest had been clawed together. Some of the moss was fresh and had a damp smell from the watery place it had been gathered from. The rest of the moss was dry, scratchy, and yellowed. This moss carried the lingering scent, constantly renewed by it's user, of a queen that had been lost. The milky smell mingled with her familiar, comforting fur-scent had longed worn off. Now, the moss only kept the reminder of her scent by the little kit that cuddled into it.
Normally, old moss was taken out and replaced, but Snifflekit had begged and pleaded that his mother's nest be left. A silly idea of taking the moss to the apprentice's den later on hung in the kit's mind. He told himself the moss would even move to the warrior's den when that time came. He would always keep that moss, as he would always keep the memories of his mother and sister in his heart.
The last image of Flutterkit was imprinted in Snifflekit's mind, every time he closed his eyes he saw her. The tiny scrap of white fur, dotted with a few black patches, mangled and torn. Her eyes closed forever, all warmth gone from her body. Snifflekit squeaked in his sleep, jerking awake.
The little tom's odd gray eyes stretched as his head shot out of the moss bed. His chest expanded and tightened with fierce breaths. Where was every one?
"Mothkit?" the kit squeaked fearfully.
He couldn't find her scent, and that scared him as much as the image of Flutterkit's broken body. Though she may not have realized it, Mothkit was very important to the young white and black tom. They were the only to kits in WindClan right now, and Snifflekit took much comfort from his companion. He liked to think he loved her, but that was just a young kit's wistful fancy. Snifflekit may have been capable of friendship and loyalty, but love was an emotion he hadn't learned to balance. In reality, Snifflekit loved Mothkit no more than a sister.
Thinking about Mothkit soothed Snifflekit and helped him to calm down. He swallowed the lump that had lodged itself in his throat before sitting up. Scratching vigorously behind his half black ears, the kit searched the nursery. Where was everyone?
Snifflekit called again, more loudly and without the tremor. "Mothkit!"

"Stupid moth!"
Mothkit stared with narrowed blue eyes at the moth as it fluttered away from her. It flew just above her reach, almost like it was mocking her. Furious, Mothkit's tiny kit-claws unsheathed and she charged toward it. She moved rather clumsy, for the young kitten wasn't used to racing around on her long legs. However, there was nothing else to do. It seemed as if no one was in the camp, and Snifflekit was asleep. For a moment Mothkit's mind wandered to Snifflekit, smiling slightly at the thought of the black and white kit. He was the only other kit in WindClan- other then Mothkit of course. The two had formed a quick friendship because of that fact. After losing her siblings, Mothkit looked at Snifflekit like a brother. After all, these days the two only had each other.
The little kit was jolted out of her thoughts as the moth landed near the fresh-kill pile, perched atop a strand of grass. The white kit licked her lips, ginger tail lashing with triumph. No way would it get away now. As if she were a hunter on the prowl, Mothkit stalked forward, taking quick and clumsy steps. It appeared more like a wobbling walk then a hunter's stalk. To Mothkit, though, it didn't matter. She'd catch the moth anyway. She could see the small creature clearly now, its white rounded wings soaking up the rays of sunlight filtering into camp. Kit-blue eyes wide with excitement, Mothkit lunged. As if expecting her the moth again fluttered away.
"You fly your little butt back here now!" Mothkit hissed, lashing her tail irritably. Just as she was about to resume the chase, a frightened cry echoed in her ears. Her eyes widened slightly. She knew that voice, for she'd know it anywhere. Snifflekit! Was something wrong? Memories of her brother's frightened cry as the fox broke into the Nursery replayed over and over in the little kit's mind. Quick as a flash Mothkit darted toward the Nursery, her ginger tail streaming like a banner behind her. Constantly she tripped over herself, for she was still young and a bit of a klutz. She reached the Nursery in a matter of moments, seeing Snifflekit sitting on his mother's old moss nest. Mothkit didn't stop until she nearly barreled into Snifflekit, tripping over herself again in the process of stopping. She landed flat on her face, groaning once before getting back to her paws and looking at her friend with concern.
"Snifflekit, you alright?" Mothkit asked, panting from the long run. "I could hear you at the far edge of camp! What happened?" [/blockquote]

Snifflekit's gray eyes widened and for a moment he forgot he wasn't scared anymore. "I had another dream about Flutterkit." he mewed.
Absently, he batted at Mothkit's scarred muzzle. Both of them were mostly white, and his paw almost blended into her face fur. He looked into her eyes, and innocent happiness flooded his. He had his Mothkit with him again, everything was fine.
"I'm okay now," he mewed before rubbing his nose which had formed another build up while he had been sleeping. He sneezed once, than began to scuffle the moss with his forepaws. He wanted to play. His whole body wriggled with that one desire. Clumsily, the white and black kit pounced on his den mate. He swatted her gently with his forepaw before tumbling off and scuttling to the other side of the nursury. He looked back at her to see it she would follow.
He was so glad of her. Snifflekit couldn't, wouldn't, imagine what he would do if Mothkit wasn't there to share a common loss. Her friendship meant so much. He wanted to show her his devotion, wanted her to know he would always be grateful of her company.
Head held high, he spoke loud with great pride many cats could hear. "When I'm a warrior, my name's gonna be Snifflemoth!"

Mothkit's eyes clouded with empathy for her friend. How many times had she had nightmares, seeing the dog rip her brother to shreds, or the illness take her other brother's life? How many times did she dream of times she ignored poor Scorchkit in his time of need? The white and ginger she-kit brushed her pelt against her friend's, offering him a gentle smile. This was another reason Snifflekit could've easilly been her brother. They both knew what it was like to lose someone. After Bramblefrost had ran away, the only cat Mothkit could turn to was Snifflekit. She did love the black and white kit, but only like she'd loved her brothers.
The young kit had been taken off guard as Snifflekit pounced on her. She squeaked with surprise, grinning as Snifflekit batted at her with his paws. As soon as the tom had scurried to the other side of the Nursery, Mothkit ran after him. Laughter danced in the kit's eyes. She waved her ginger tail like a flag as Snifflekit stopped, declaring his future warrior name. Mothkit stopped right in front of him, looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes. She grinned at him, nodding eagerly. "Good, 'cause my name is going to be Mothsniffle!" She laughed, again lunging for her friend and trying to pin him down.
How long would they remain friends? Would she always run to Snifflekit whenever she had a secret, whenever she had a problem or a new game to play? Mothkit loved to believe that. She loved to believe that Snifflekit would always be there for her, as she would be for him. But the little kit was all too aware of how easilly something you loved could be ripped away from you. She never wanted that to happen. Snifflekit would always be her bestfriend. Mothkit would make sure of that no matter what. She couldn't imagine one day waking up, and him not being there.
{{Hehe, Snifflemoth and Mothsniffle are actually okay names ^-^}} [/blockquote]

Always and forever, till the end of his days. He needed her now, as a sister and friend. The future was too far ahead for a kit, but he could only every imagine having Mothkit beside him. They would be apprenticed together, training side by side. When they became warriors-as brave Snifflemoth and fair Mothsniffle- they would leap into the fray knowing the other was watching out for them. Mothkit was his and he was Mothkit's. Only death would change that for him, and even then he would keep her in his heart with Quiverheart and Flutterkit.
Snifflekit pawed at Mothkit's face, not minding for a moment that she had him in a vulnerable position. Training would eventually correct that, but for now he was a kit. With his back paws, he pummeled at Mothkit's underbelly before suddenly lunging upward to grab her ear in his teeth. His gray eyes glittered with soaring joy. What would have happened if Snifflekit had never had Mothkit? There wouldn't be this peace to block out the tragedy of his great loss. What would happen if Mothkit died and Snifflekit was sentenced to a life without her? The kit was sure, he'd die too.
Pausing the game, Snifflekit let his head fall back on the soft nursery floor. For a brief, strange moment, his eyes became very serious. He couldn't lose her. Even now, he knew that. They must always be friends.
"Mothkit?" he mewed solemnly. "Promise we're friends? Promise we'll always do everything together? Promise you'll never leave me?"

Mothkit continued to hold Snifflekit down, not minding as he pawed at her face. It was all harmless fun. She closed her eyes, still giggling as if someone were tickling her nonstop. She batted playfully at Snifflekit, letting out a mock hiss of pain as he bit her ear. Finally the ginger and white she-cat hopped off her friend, laying down beside him as he lay his head on the Nursery floor. Mothkit smiled at him, though her mind continued to wander. She wanted more then anything to remain friends forever. She wanted to be bestfriends with Snifflekit forever, even when they were elders and even when they joined StarClan. Snifflekit must've felt similar feelings as her, for his next words were the same questions buzzing in Mothkit's mind.
She paused for a moment, allowing the question to sink in. She was still so innocent, like Snifflekit was. Her answer would be what she hoped, no, what she knew would happen. Mothkit licked Snifflekit's ear as a friendly gesture, nodding in response to his question. Her blue eyes were round with such innocence, something that seemed like it'd never be taken away. Just like Snifflekit would never be taken away. Mothkit wanted more then anything to make sure of that.
"I promise you, Snifflekit, that even when I'm in StarClan I'll remain your best friend," Mothkit mewed, her voice dripping with the truth of her words. "You can always come to me no matter what the problem. I'll always be there for you, Snifflekit." A sudden look of maturity came over her face, though it was replaced by her kit-innocence again in a matter of moments. Mothkit playfully batted Snifflekit's ear again, her expression a mixture of seriousness and playfulness. "And you'd better promise the same thing," she purred. "'Cause no matter what I'll always consider you my best friend" [/blockquote]

"And you'd better promise the same thing," she purred. "'Cause no matter what I'll always consider you my best friend"
Snifflekit's eyes were filled with honesty as he stared into the blue orbs of his friend. He didn't stop to consider how deep his promise would run or what sort of binds he was forming. No kit truly would. All he knew was that he owed this to Mosskit for being here right now.
Rolling over onto his stomach, he nudged her with his black nose. "I will always and forever be your friend, Mosskit. Even when we die and go to StarClan."
He meant it. He would never leave her. The things that connected them now in kithood were bonds much to strong to break in warriorhood. Always and forever... Snifflekit's mouth gaped in a big yawn, revealing sharp milk teeth and a bright pink tongue.
"I'm hungry!" he announced, the bigger thaughts forgotten. "And thirsty. And I want to play with the apprentices!"
ooc: I am BRAINDEAD! Darky's sudden arrival stole all my muse! XD

Mothkit smiled, returning Snifflekit's nudge. She felt slightly reassured from his words. They'd both said that they were going to remain friends forever. Forever... It was such a long time. How would two kits manage to keep up a bond for so long? Well, if anyone could, Mothkit knew that she and Snifflekit could. They shared a connection that not many others shared, almost like they were family. Mothkit purred at Snifflekit's words, getting to her paws and shaking the dust from her snowy white fur. The rumbling of her stomach reminded her of her hunger, for she hadn't eaten yet that day.
"Well let's go eat, then," Mothkit mewed, nodding toward the fresh-kill pile. "We can share a mouse if you want." An evil look appeared in Mothkit's eyes as she continued. "Then we can go play pranks on some of the warriors!" Without waiting for a reply the little kit scurried out of the Nursery and to the freshkill pile. Mothkit grabbed the still form of a gray mouse, laying down a few feet away from the pile of game. Her eyes moved to the Nursery, waiting for Snifflekit to join her. She wasn't willing to wait long though, for her hunger was growing. While she waited Mothkit went over a list of possible pranks. Teasing warriors and apprentices was her favorite hobby.
Her eyes scanned the camp, searching for any warriors to play a prank on. Any younger warriors or apprentices would be perfect for her little plan. She'd discuss it with Snifflekit over the mouse. [/blockquote]

Snifflekit purred as he watched Mosskit scamper out of the nursery. More slowly, the little tom got up and stretched each leg in turn. Then, with a last yawn, he hurried after his friend.
He bounded to her, eyeing the mouse with eagerness. He was starving! Playfully, he pushed Mothkit away with his head and crouched down to rip a meat slice from the little creature. Mothkit was obviously bursting with ideas. Snifflekit caught her blue eyes darting around the camp, searching out her victims. The young tom released a rusty purr and swallowed his mouthful.
"Okay, so what are we going to do this time?"

Mothkit hissed playfully as Snifflekit shoved her away. She batted at him with a paw, snatching the mouse away and prancing a few mousetails away. She shot him a challenging look, still holding the mouse in her jaws and lashing her tail. Cautiously Mothkit set the mouse down, taking a few more bites from the creature while making sure there'd be enough for Snifflekit if he ever got the mouse back. Mothkit glared teasingly, smacking the mouse occsionally with her paws. While messing with Snifflekit, Mothkit continued to go over possible candidates for her prank. The first cat to wander into her little trap would be her victim.
"Come get it, Sniffles," Mothkit purred. "You can't figure out my plan until you get the mouse." Casually she licked one paw, bringing that paw over her ear as if grooming. She loved messing with other cats, though she hoped Snifflekit understood that she was just being playful. Never in a million years wold Mothkit be mean to him. She'd never risk anything to harm their everlasting friendship.
{{Who should be their victim? Maybe Ferretpelt or Cheetahpelt? Or we could invite someone else into the thread}} [/blockquote]

ooc: Ferretpelt wouldkill them! lol, let's get 'im! XD
Snifflekit sat back, watching Mothkit prance around with her prize. Her ginger tale waved like a flag, distracting Snifflekit's attention. His eyes narrowed playfully, but he didn't get up. Not yet.
"We could ambush someone, how does that sound?" the little tom's claws pricked the earth. He wanted that mouse so bad, but he forced himself to be patient. Mothkit;s tail caught his eye again. His mind was whirling with natural instinct that told him how to pin-point his prey. Standing up, he began to mew slowly, thinking the idea through. "We could wait by the camp entrance and wait for someone to come." His eyes were fixed on that ginger tail. "We'd have to be real quiet and hide real well." He rocked gently on his toes as he took another cautious step. "Then we wait until they've passed us," He was close enough for a leap, now. His eyes flashed mischieviously. "And then...we POUNCE!" With a high yowl, the white and black kit took off from the ground and landed on Mothkit's backside. With lightening movements, he grabbed her tail. His own black tail lashed triumphantley. Then, growling playfully, he clamped his teeth around Mothkit's tail a bit harder than he had intended.

{{Ferret it is then xD}}
Mothkit listened to Snifflekit's words, occasionally prancing a little far away with the mouse in her jaws. She was aware of his plan, and wasn't going to fall for it. But the prank sounded so brilliant. The young kitten couldn't help but stop prancing, ears pricked to hear more of Snifflekit's brilliance. Every word formed together to make the perfect plan! Mothkit couldn't help but grin. Snifflekit sure had an evil mind. Her paws itched the put the plan into action, but the mouse in her jaws reminded her of her own plan. Immediately Mothkit scolded herself. She couldn't believe she was falling for it.
"And then...we POUNCE!"
"Gah!" Mothkit squeaked at the sound of Snifflekit's yowl, dropping the mouse in the process. In only moments she found herself pinned beneath her friend. Mothkit glared playfully up at him, until she felt a sharp pain shoot up her tail. The kit squeaked with shock, realizing that Snifflekit had bit her tail. Mothkit winced, stunned by the pain her friend had suddenly caused her. "OW!" she cried, jerking her tail away. She squirmed beneath Snifflekit's grasp, trying to break free. "Come on, get off! That hurt!" [/blockquote]

"OW!" she cried, jerking her tail away. She squirmed beneath Snifflekit's grasp, trying to break free. "Come on, get off! That hurt!"
Snifflekit scrambled off Mothkit as quickly as he could. His ears were flat against his head and his eyes were open in panic. He had hurt her?! Dnifflekit was sure he would kill himself if Mothkit was hurt. Well, mabye not kill himself, but he promised he might just bite off his own tail. He stumbled to her side, his gray eyes wise and anxious. She was too special, too imporatant to him for her to be in pain.
"Do I need to get Badgersoul?" he mewed, his voice tight with fear.
Was Mothkit mad at him? Would she not want to play anymore? Would she still be his friend? She had to be his friend! Snifflekit would die without her, and in the pit of his stomach he knew she would feel the same way if he left her.
Leaning over the white she-kit, Snifflekit whispered in a horrified and pleading voice. "Did I kill you?"
Outside of the camp, a lean cream and brown warrior was trudging toward camp with a rabbit in his jaws. His blue eyes flashed icily. His white paws left marks in the dust beneath the long grass strands. He was tired and irritated. All he wanted just then was to eat so prey and go to sleep. But he mustn't lat anyone see that. No, he must always look ready for anything.
He'd just forgotten anything might mean two playful kits.

Mothkit continued to flick her hurt tail, trying to regain movement with it. Truthfully it didn't hurt anymore. She was just angry that Snifflekit had hurt her. Just as she planned on giving him the cold shoulder, his whisper tickled inside her ear. Mothkit couldn't help but giggle at his words, not stopping until it came out as a huge laugh. Purring the little kit got back to her paws, shake her head while still letting out the occasional chuckle. "No, you didn't kill me mousebrain, I'm fine." She flicked her tail on his nose teasingly. "Just next time, don't mistake my tail for the mouse!" Mothkit smiled, then suddenly remembered the plan. Immediately she nudged Snifflekit, nodding in the direction of the camp entrance.
"Someone's coming!" she hissed quietly. "Quick! Let's hide and jump 'im as they come in." Quickly the little kit dashed toward the den entrance, paws shaking with excitement. This was brilliant! For a moment Mothkit couldn't help but wonder if the cat they ambushed would be angry. She immediately shrugged the thought off. No cat could possibly get angry at a couple little kits. It was all harmless fun. If a cat couldn't understand that, then, well, they were mousebrained. Mothkit crouched low, lashing her tail almost like a dog would wag their tail. She was so excited! It felt like moons since her last big prank, though it was only days. [/blockquote]

Over joyed that his friend wasn't hurt after all, Snifflekit bounced to his paws. He was right behind her, black tail streaming behind him. Who was coming? The kits claws kneaded the ground in anticipation. He and Mothkit always had the best ideas! Pressing against her, his breath ruffled her ear fur.
"I'll get his legs so he falls over, okay?"
His eyes stared into the entrance, willing the cat to hurry up. What if it was Windstar, Ravenquill, or Badgersoul? Would they be upset that the kits had attacked them? Or proud of their cleverness and glad they were having fun? Snifflekit pressed his belly to the ground, preparing to spring. He was pretty lopsided, but his little shoulders rolled as if he were tracking prey.
"Here he comes!"
Ambition fueled Ferretpelt's every move. That was why he was not going to go to sleep when he got back to camp. There was always work to do, and the Clan needed to see that he was always ready for it. He had been extremely foolish at the start of his plan. The Clan despised him now, but what they needed to see was that Ferretpelt could be trusted. He had to work on that. Yes, he'd have to go against his natural personality, but that was a small price to pay for the fulfillment of his dark dreams.
The grass rustled as he pushed through it, coming past the entrance and into the camp. His eyes landed firstly on the fresh kill pile. He would deposit his rabbit, then he wou-
"RAWR!"
The rabbit flew from Ferretpelt's jaws as his legs were suddenly knocked from underneath him.

Mothkit nodded in response to Snifflekit's words. She crouched low as well, the tips of her belly furs just barely brushing against the ground. Who would be their victim? A playful apprentice, or an all-work-no-play warrior? Maybe even Windstar! Mothkit hoped that Windstar wasn't the type of cat to get angry at a kit's game. Waving her ginger tail, Mothkit tensed and waited for the arrival of their victim. She planned on jumping on the cat's back, giving it extra weight so it'd have to fall. Then she'd just bat at the cat playfully until finally the cat got her off. Mothkit couldn't help but giggle a few times. This was so exciting!
"Here he comes!"
Mothkit mentally counted down from three. At the same time Snifflekit pounced, she pounced as well, landing on the cat's back. Immediately she felt a stab of fear, noticing the cream-colored fur. How many cats in the Clan had cream-colored fur? Only one came to her mind. Ferretpelt. She let out a little squeak, but oontinued to bat at the tom with her paws, letting out furious, playful growls. "Intruder!" she hissed. "Get out of our camp!"

He felt the kit land on his back, her paws batting at his shoulders. It didn't hurt. It would take much more than a couple of kits to give Ferretpelt a wound he would mind. But it made him furious that the little scraps playing with him had surprised him, and knocked him over. Growling, Ferretpelt arched his back and shook so that Mothkit would lose her grip. Then he slapped at Snifflekit, who was wrapped around one of his legs, and spat fiercly.
Snifflekit squeaked in surprise and bundled off the big tom cat. He heard Ferretpelt's angry hiss, it was scary! His whole coat fluffed out. He hadn't expected to get in trouble! Remembering Mothkit, the white and black kit turned around. His gray eyes were full of fear. Ferretpelt was trying to dislodge her from his back. One white paw eached up, and the sun caught the claws and made them glitter.
Fierce anger shot through the tiny kits body. How dare Ferretpelt try to hurt his Mothkit?! Nobody could ever hurt Mothkit, especially if Snifflekit was there!
"Leave Mothkit alone!" Snifflekit yowled, scampering up at full speed and jumping at Ferretpelt's legs again.

Mothkit flinched at the sound of Ferretpelt's hiss. Had they really gotten him that mad? The tiny kit squeaked as Ferretpelt tried to dislodge her, arching his back and trying to shove her off. She squealed in surprise, unsheathing her tiny kit claws and holding on for dear life. Her heart was pounding. It was only supposed to be a game! Mothkit hadn't wanted anyone to get hurt, or angry. Terrified she dug her claws into Ferretpelt's back, not wanting to be flung off and possibly injured. Her eyes moved to Snifflekit, seeing him being slapped away by Ferretpelt. Fierce anger coursed through her body. Now the cat had done it! He had hurt Snifflekit, her Snifflekit. No one did that to her friend! Letting out a furious hiss, Mothkit bit Ferretpelt's ear.
"Hey!" she hissed after she let go of the ear. "Be nice! We're just playing you meanie!" Though she knew now would be a good time to let go, Mothkit couldn't help but feel a stab of fear. How would she get down, if Ferretpelt kept shaking? Whimpering in terror, Mothkit jumped off the tom, landing with a thud on the ground. She skidded a few mousetails away, letting out a loud "oompf!" as she landed. Her right side throbbed, but she didn't care. Mothkit wanted more then anything to teach Ferretpelt a lesson. Yowling she staggered back to her paws, ignoring the stinging on her right shoulder. She'd obviously scraped it.
"Meanie, leave Snifflekit alone!" Mothkit hissed, charging back into the fray. She unsheathed her tiny kit claws, for now it was personal, and swiped at Ferretpelt's leg as well. [/blockquote]

With Mothkit beside him now, Snifflekit faught with overflowing courage. There was no doubt in his mind that the two of them could bring this big furball down. Claws slashing wildly at the shaded cream and brown legs, Snifflekit let out big war cries. He was a warrior, fighting to the death. Ferretpelt was the enemy, he had tried to hurt Mothkit! No greater offense could ever be committed against Snifflekit. Mothkit was all his little life lived for, and nothing would take her away from him. Not now, not ever.
Though the claws were small, they were kitten sharp. The slashes against his legs stung, as did the marks on his back and the bite on his ear. His anger had already bubbled over, but he tried to control it. Hurt a kit and the Clan will have a reason to kill you. Still, he couldn't supress a frustrated snarl.
"That's enough!" his furious voice thundered above their heads. "Put those claws away, now!"

Mothkit continued to scratch at the tom, no longer feeling a bit of fear. An image ran through her mind as she fought. She could see her and Snifflekit, now older, fighting an enemy warrior in battle. She saw them, side-by-side, chasing the cat away. A smile lit up her face. That was how it would always be. They'd always fight side-by-side in battle. One couldn't live if the other died. Mothkit knew that she couldn't ever lose Snifflekit. What would be the point of life without having her bestfriend by her side? There wouldn't be a point. Those thoughts encouraged Mothkit to fight harder, as if she were living the vision of her and Snifflekit fighting together. She was fighting to defend her friend.
Ferretpelt's thunderous yowl caused Mothkit to let out a squeak, falling backwards on her paws and landing on her back. She lay there, staring up at the massive warrior and into his menacing ice blue eyes. Her kit-blue eyes widened with fear and she quickly rolled to her paws. Ferretpelt wasn't only mad, he was furious. Immediately she hissed a warning toward Snifflekit, telling him to stop. Her claws sheathed, her whole body trembling. No cat had ever yelled at her like that before. It was scary. "S-Snifflekit, we should stop now," she whimpered, staring up at Ferretpelt with wide eyes. "H-he seems m-mad." Mothkit had never known a cat to get as angry as Ferretpelt about simple kit game. She didn't want to imagine what he was like as a kit. [/blockquote]

Shocked, Snifflekit stopped scratching his enemy and backed away to stand by Mothkit. Ferretpelt was terrifying. He could see the flash of the warrior's teeth as he bared them at the kits. Snifflekit suddenly wished he still had a mother. would this big cat attack him and Mothkit? Could they really stand up to him? Snifflekit took an involuntary step back and whimpered. Now wonder the other cats didn't like Ferretpelt.
"M-mabye we should go back to the nursery," Snifflekit suggested, more to Ferretplet tham to Mothkit.
"Oh, no." Ferretpelt growled, his gaze darting from one youngster to the next. "Not the nursery, little kits. You've done something very bad."
The Clan won't like it if you start picking on the kits. "You've been very naughty both of you." Voice tone, remember your tone of voice. He quieted himself, but kept his words firm. "It is very, very wrong to attack a fellow warrior like that, especially one senior to you." They need to be punished, but not by you. "I'm afraid I hve o take you two to see Windstar. She won't be happy to find that WindClan kits are already acting so mutinously!"

Mothkit let out a squeak. Windstar! She could delay their apprentice ceremonies! The little kit glared at Ferretpelt, lashing her ginger tail angrily. "We were just playing, mousebrain!" she hissed, but immediately quieted herself. No use getting them into more trouble. Mothkit glanced at Snifflekit, suddenly feeling bad. Playing a prank had been her idea, not Snifflekit's. He shouldn't get into trouble. Immediately she opened her mouth to voice her thoughts. "Ferretpelt, none of this was Snifflekit's idea, it was all mine. All me." She dipped her head respectfully, though she felt little respect for the tom. "Please don't punish him."
A question formed inside Mothkit's mind, though she doubted this was the right time to ask. It was a silly, kit question, that Ferretpelt would undoubtedly laugh at. Then again, it didn't seem like a cat like Ferretpelt laughed. Mothkit sighed. Well, she figured she'd ask the question anyway. "Ferretpelt," she mewed, tilting her head to the side and staring up at the tom with wide, innocent blue eyes. "This might be the wrong time but... well, what does muti-muti...mutinously mean?" Her voice was tinged with the kit innocence that not many could ignore. Sincere curiousity was visible in her eyes as she stared up at the warrior. [/blockquote]

Snifflekit's gaze snapped onto Mothkit as she asked Ferretpelt not to punish him. Slapping at her ear, he hissed, "You can't go see Windstar by yourself! What if they kill you for being mutimoniusly?" No, he wouldn't let Mothkit go by herself, she would never go anywhere by herself so long as Snifflekit had paws to walk with. "I'm going with you. I'm the one who decided to get his legs." more loudly, he announced to the warrior "I'm going with Mothkit! I'm in trouble too!"
Great StarClan,
Ferretpelt rolled his eyes at both of them. This could be even more frustrating then their silly game. "It's mutinously. It means 'acting with rebellion' which is exactly what you were doing. Now, are you going to come respectfully with me to Windstar's den so you don't get in mor trouble, or do I have to drag you there?"
"You can't drag Mothkit any where! I'll claw you!" Snifflekit yowled, but he was silenced by a glare that had very clearly lost it's patience.

The little ginger and white kit couldn't help but feel a rush of warmth at Snifflekit's words. She was glad to have him stand by her, even if it meant they'd be kits forever. At least they'd still have each other. Gingerly she touched his ear with her nose, muruming her thanks before turning back to Ferretpelt. She glared at the tom as he threatened to drag her to Windstar, and let out a low hiss. "Lay one paw on either of us and I'll have you shredded!" she growled, pawing angrily at the ground. "I... I'll tell Windstar too!"
Another idea suddenly sprang into her mind. "Wait, before you drag us off to Windstar, what does 'rebellion' mean?" she asked, flicking her tail curiously. Now she was just having fun. A smirk appeared on her face. Mothkit enjoyed teasing this cat, it was rather fun. She tried to keep the look of curious innocence on her face, though it was extremely difficult. Hopefully this thick-headed tom would fall for her little trick. If she kept him distracted long enough then he wouldn't take the two kits away. Any cat could fall for kit innocence, if they weren't quite bright enough to see through it. Though Ferretpelt wasn't the type of cat to melt and go "Awww, you two are so adorable!" he could be the type that would constantly try to explain the unexplainable to kits. If that was the case, Mothkit would just keep asking questions.
She flicked her tail, impatient. "Well? What does it mean?" [/blockquote]

I may not be your favorite cat, but why kits? Why do have to punish me with kits?
Ferretpelt was sure StarClan were leering down at him, mocking his authority over the kits. Mothkit's question sent sharp spikes in his fur.He turned his cold eyes on her, trying to think of ways he could make the kit miserable without physically hurting her. "Rebellion means your a pipsqueak that's about to get it's tail torn off. Now let's go, or you two can't play together for the next two sunrises."
Snifflekit's eyes widened. "Wow, rebellion is a neat word! Does that mean you're a pipsqueak?" The kit hushed and gasped at Ferretpelt's threat. Would he really seperate them? Snifflwkit looked at Mothkit with worried eyes. The last thing he wanted to be was seperated from Mothkit. "Okay," he mewed, turning his ears back and padding obediantly to Ferretpelt. "I don't wanna be seperated, so I'll go."

"Ooh, I like that word. Rebellion means pipsqueak! I get it," she purred, waving her tail enthusiastically. Just as she was about to mew out yet another annoying question, Ferretpelt's threat sounded in her ears. She flinched, hurt. Never did she want to endanger being able to play with Snifflekit. It had all been fun! StarClan, this cat needed a sense of humor. She sighed. No use bringing that up now. She needed to be able to see Snifflekit every day. Not being able to was like torture. Mothkit glared at Ferretpelt, nodding and trying to shield her fury toward him. If I become his apprentice when I'm older, I'll simply die. She thought to herself, padding over to Ferretpelt with a great deal of reluctance.
Her ginger tail dragged on the ground. What would Windstar do to them? Would she seperate her and Snifflekit, just like Ferretpelt had threatened to do moments ago? Ears flattened, Mothkit glared up at the cream colored tom. She hated him. Already in Mothkit's tiny kit mind had she decided she hated Ferretpelt. He was forever outside her little circle. Mothkit wanted to yowl that she hated the warrior, but didn't want to get into anymore trouble then she was already in. Instead she redirected her glare to her tiny white paws, frustrated with herself for not only getting herself in trouble, but Snifflekit. She looked over at the black and white kit, feeling very small. "Sorry I got you in trouble," she murmured, voice extremely quiet compared to how it used to be.
Mothkit returned her attention to Ferretpelt, wanting so badly to claw that look off his face. She glared at him, wanting to burn holes through his head with her piercing stare. Why did he have to ruin all the fun? Mothkit had so many mean things to say to the tom, but she didn't want to risk losing Snifflekit for a whole two sunrises. Her friendship with Snifflekit was way more important then getting her revenge on this annoying tom. [/blockquote]

A dark warrior padded into camp silently. Alone. His golden orbs glinted in amusement as he saw Snifflekit and Mothkit playing near the nursery. He padded over to the warriors den and flopped down. The hares had been extremely swift that afternoon and he had trouble even getting near them. Zerowing had caught none in the end - coming back to camp empty pawed. Now he sat with eyes slitted in tiredness outside the den. Zero's black tail tip flicked back and forth. He saw the kits leap towards Ferretpelt. Oh great. The tom stood up with an uncaring look plastered upon his face. He heard Ferretpelts threat and then order. Go to Windstar's den? Zerowing rolled his eyes and padded over to the three felines.
Zero placed his tail tip gently on the warriors shoulder. Do they really need to go to Windstar? They're only being kits. You were worse then this i'm sure. We were all kits at a time. The midnight hued tom waited for Ferretpelt's response.

Great. First kits, now Zerowing. What a perfect day.
"Yes, they have to go see Windstar! Do you want them to think it's alright that they can attack thier Clanmates and bad-mouth their elders? These kits have been very wrong." he glared meaningfully at the kits, at the same time making a defense. Zerowing had every right to accuse Ferretpelt of bad-mouthing his elders. "A well meant debate is fine, but this mocking is uncalled for. They deserve punishment." His icey eyes flashed at the dark warrior. He was like a shadow. Visions of triumph began to swirl in Ferretpelt's head. Zerowing was one of Windstar's shadows, like so many other cats were. When the time comes, I'll be sure those shadows are covered.
"It's not your fault." Snifflekit whispered in reply to Mothkit's apology. He pressed up against her white furred side. "Windstar's a good leader. She won't be mean to us. She likes kits, she let Ravenquill be her deputy!"
Ferretpelt's gaze flashed to Snifflekit then back to Zerowing. The kit was right, their deputy was a kit himself. "Let's go." he meowed to the little ones, all the while challenging Zerowing with a cold, hard stare.

Mothkit pressed close to Snifflekit as well, afraid of what Ferretpelt would do. Oh how badly she wanted to badmouth the tom again, but she didn't want to risk getting into trouble. Just as she was about to give up on winning, the black pelt of Zerowing appeared in her vision. Mothkit looked up at the tom, smirking inwardly. Ferretpelt would get it now! Surely Zerowing was on their side. Her hopes were answered when the black tom scolded Ferretpelt for wanting to take them to Windstar. It was three against one, the battle was theirs! The little kit couldn't help but let out a purr of triumph.
"Yeah, Ferretpelt," she mewed, forcing herself to keep a kind voice and not screeching at the tom. "Weren't you like this as a kit?" She looked up at him, flicking her ear curiously. She was sincerely curious as to how this strict tom acted as a kit.

Ferretpelt turned a low growl on Mothkit, his blue eyes flashing into hers. "My kithood is your nightmare." he rasped. "Now be quiet" Looking back at Zerowing, the color-pointed warrior hissed. "What's the matter, Zerowing? Don't you want an excuse to visit your leader? It is Windstar's duty to know when her cats need correction, especially since these two are orphans. Or did you want them to go on being rebellious monsters and ruin their lives?"
Snifflekit's black tail lashed angrily. No one talked that way to Mothkit, that was his job! Before he could protest, however, Ferretpelt surged on with his mini-speach. The little tom gasped, insulted. Leaning toward his friend, he whispered, "We look like monsters? How can we look like monsters? We're cats!"
