Lizzardpaw heard Ferretpaw's racing pawsteps, followed by Ryepaw's furious yowling as she too gave chase. Lizzardpaw sighed, counting inside her head. 3...2...1 As she had expected, Eelpaw ran after Ferretpaw. The blind calico was alone. Her neck fur rose, ears swiveling around to pick up any movement. Raindrops slowly began to fall, making Lizzardpaw hiss in frustration. If she didn't hurry, picking up a scent for the three apprentices would be nearly impossible. She tasted the air, just faintly picking up Ryepaw's scent along with Eelpaw's.
Forget it, she thought to herself. Just let them be. No sense in your getting soaked or lost. Just as she turned to leave, Lizzardpaw realized something. With rain, scents changed, and with all the changing scents it would be nearly impossible to get back to camp.
