{{Holding back the tears}}{{Along with my fears}} Rain came down like arrows from the front line of the enemy. Steam rose up from the ground because the precipitation was freezing and the soil was sun-baked. Lately, the weather had been very unpredictable. First with the snow, then with the rising temperatures and longer sunlight hours, then the rain. Most woodland creatures stayed in their dens with their loved ones or family, huddled together in the warmth of love. A foul wind screamed as it tore at the trees, tearing leaves off and taking them up in a vortex where they stayed suspended in a never-ending cycle of freefall. One tom stood somewhere in all of this mayhem, his ears flattened against his skull and his black, shoddy fur plastered to his skin. But he didn't pay attention to the storm or the cold, but to the memories that were drifting through his mind. Memories of a white she-cat with electric blue eyes.
{{Electric blue eyes}} {{Where did you come from}}

Ferretpaw winced against the driving rain. The storm was only growing fiercer and again she cursed the fates that had her out in the weather. The apprentice was meant to go on border patrol and she had gone, but coming back she had gotten seperated from the group. Now the coming storm had her trapped out here. Normally Ferretpaw was not one to get lost very easily, but this pseudo-hurricane had all her senses tripping.
In her bemused state, Ferretpaw did not even notice Dragonflyeyes until she was on top of him. Indeed, it was only in running into the tom's sodden side that she even saw the dark one in the even dark weather. The little apprentice jumped back. Her words could barely be heard over the racket.
Oh! I-I didn't mean to. I'm sorry!

{ ELECTRIC BLUE EYES } { WHERE DID YOU COME FROM } A small tear cut a streak of pure diamond through the tom's black pelt. Rain pelted him, stinging his sides through his thin fur. But he felt no pain at the moment. All he heard and saw and felt was the betrayal of Goddesspaw. She had used him countless times only to get what she wanted; every time he stood back and stayed in the dark. How could he not see what she was doing? How did he let her rip his heart to pieces and walk away without a scratch? Because he stilled loved her no matter what; there had been no way he could bring himself to harm her. Oh! I--I didn't mean to. I'm sorry!" Dragonflyeyes blinked his beautiful eyes and turned to the female shivering at his side. It was only now that he realized that she had bowled into him like a pack of demonic dogs was on her tail. A look of confusion mutilated his feautres and then softened into a gaze of pure understanding. "That's okay, Ferretpaw. What are you doing out here in a storm such as this?"

Ferretpaw's ears were drenched flat back against her skull and she had to strain to hear Dragonflyeyes' words when he spoke to her.
I was out doing border patrol and got lost in the storm.
The small femme shivered; the rain wasn't doing much for her health. Her short tabby fur was plastered to her sides and without the extra fluff she bore some resemblance to a drowned rat. Ferretpaw opened her mouth to speak again and got it filled with rainwater. She spat, coughed, and tried again.
What are you doing out here?
This was not the time for involved conversation, but Ferretpaw was curious as all get out to find out why the tom was hanging around all alone in the pouring rain.
