Mercury's Journey

[brightsun]

Mercury jumped from one rock to another, apparently playing some sort of game. He was muttering to himself and jumped to one rock, apparently not caring where he was going. Unfortunately he was headed straight to the lake-- and he didn't know how to swim!

^{Streampaw was walking.Her silver fur was shinning like a wet stone.Her thoughts were about storys that she had herd when she was a kit.The she smelt an intruder.Her shyness prickled in side her " Ok Streampaw,what would Silverstream do at a time like this?" she asked herself then slowly stalked the intruder.}

Mercury coninued to leap from stone to stone until he felt a one of his paws get wet and looked down. He saw water all around him. "Oh boy," He muttered and looked up. "Hey, who ever it is that's out there can you give me a hand? I can't really... uh ... swim that well," Mercury looked down then up again. "Please?"

[Streampelt]

_{Streampaw look at the cat.She could not keep up with her mood,not to save her life.Her self shyness sweld up within' her "Down worry mister" she clled out now becoming a bad example for Riverclan.HEr heart burst silently,she knew this was wroung but,she couldn't help it.She leeped into the water and padded up to the Loner.}

"Oh no," Mercury said, with a slightly amused face. "I'm being rescued by a an apprentice. My humiliation is overwhelming." He moved slightly so that the she-cat would have room to stand."Don't call me Mister please, it sounds ... adult." He shudered. "Name's Mercury, what about you?" Mercury was chatting like he wasn't in the least bit of danger. However this was normal for him.

[Elk]

Elkpaw ran out of some bushes, angrily cahsing a water vole. The small animal found a crack in some rocks and disappeared. Elkpaw spat angrily, then looked up. "Hey!" he shouted. "Streampaw! What are you doing? Why are you here, Loner?!"

[Lightbreeze & Co. (Night)]

[shadow=blue,right,300]" Settle down, Elkpaw." A snow-white tom walked behind the apprentice. His fur was straight and clean, and he was smiling. " They're just talking." He jumped from rock to rock to stand by the two cats, landing neatly by them." But yes, what are you doing talking to a loner, Streampaw?"[/shadow]

[Blackpelt ~ Pippin]

"Calm down?! Fancy that, coming fom a warrior!" Elkpaw retorted.

[Lightbreeze & Co. (Night)]

" Just take it easy!" Snowpelt shot back. " They're not doing anything wrong." He started to make his way back to dry land. This cat was annoying him.

[Blackpelt ~ Pippin]

Elkpaw mocked him. "It's your duty to make sure there are no tresspassers in our terra."

[Lightbreeze & Co. (Night)]

[glow=blue,right 2,300]" A cat that's scared of water is no threat to RIverClan." Snowpelt snapped. " He was back on land now, and he was getting mad. " You don't want to get on my bad side, Elkpaw."[/glow]

[Blackpelt ~ Pippin]

"You don't want to get on my bad side." Elkpaw mocked. He spat with distaste. Then he looked back at the loner. "If he's so afraid of water, what's he doing here?"

[Mercury]

"I'm not afraid of water," Snapped Mercury. He glared at them. "I just said I couldn't swim."

[Lightbreeze & Co. (Night)]

" Well then, what are you doing on the lake?" Snowpelt retorted. These cats were annoying him, and he didn't get annoyed often.

"I jumped from rock to rock."Mercury said and then realized something. "I could have just jumped back. Sorry for the problems I caused." Mercury said and jumped toward on the first rock. This rock was old, and unstable, having been dropped in by some two leg. The rapid current had kept it from settling into a safe location and Mercury's previous jump had unlogged it slightly. So when Mercury jumped again he felt the rock give way and roll over him as the river's current quickly swept him and the rock away. He tried to open his mouth, but it filled with water. The rock had not only bruised him, but had made sure he wouldn't be able to reach the surface. Mercury felt panic rise inside him and tried his best to learn how to swim.

[Elk]

Elkpaw ran to the waters edge and jumped in. He was at Mercury's side in a moment. He grabbed the cats scruff, and swam as well as he was able to shore.

[Ferny]

Splashheart watched from the shore a little ways away *Murcury!* she thought
