Silvershadow appeared into stoney Beach, his son behind him. He waited, looking into the calm water of the nearby river. His reflection stared back at him, he sighed, he could never learn to fish or swim very well.

Silvershadow's whiskers twitched in amusement. " What ever you want to do today, I'll teach you." he smiled remembering his old medicine cat appretance days usually made him uneasy, but today, they were a specail memory.

Silvershadow smiled and nodded, his memories fading. "Ok, we can start with the tecneque, (I know that's a sp!) you always want to face your enemy, searching them for vonerable spots, but not giving yourself away.

Silvershadow flipped over, pinning the apprentyance aginst the ground easily. " It'sall about tecneque." he said again and stood up, leaving the appretance in the dust.

Silvershadow quickly side stepped, letting the appretance rolled away. His whiskers twitched with amusment. He watched intently. "Never give away your attack spot and be tricky." he adviced.

Howlingpaw sat down "ok ok train... I guess" he giggled at his last words and than forced himself to calm down. waiting... waiting for his pray, he watched the bigger cat come nearer to him... Bang!... he jumped on Silvershadow giggling in excitment. "you can't beat me!" he said as if he thought it was true "for I am the greatest warrior in all the land!"

Silvershadow nodded aprovingly. He didn't like to be stren but he had to. " In a battle you must not only use your claws and teeth, but your mind as well. You can be the strongest cat in the forest, but the smartest cat could beat you easily. The element of suprise is a great factor in a battle. " he paused to wait for Howlingpaw's reply, like he usually did.

Silvershadow nodded, "Suprising a cat is a little hard, easier in battles than otherwise. Most cats ambush other cats- when one cat chases the victum toward another cat who is hiding and will jump out at the other. In battles, cats usually jump behind a cat that's already fighting. Finally, if you practice enough and hide your scent well, you can follow and attack a cat without them knowing till the attack part." he stopped to let the words sink in.

Now that howlingpaw had a basic understanding he nodded and said "could i try to sneak up on you"he asked trying to look like he was bigger and stronger so that he might get to actually do it instead of looking like a weak little kit.

Silvershadow smiled his whiskers twitched amusingly. "Well, a lot of good it'll do if you sneak up on a ready cat." He paused to add drama. "I bet we could sneak up on the other appretances who are training with their mentors though.." his eyes flashed mycheviously and he looked at his son.

A silver ear flicked back as he thought he heard a tree branch shake. He turned his head, failing to see anything. He looked back at his son, silver pelt shifting uneasily as he shivered. It seemed like something- or someone- was watching him.........

"Go ahead," he sighed and quickly added, " Be careful and stay close!" His silver pelt shivered again and he smelt around the clearing. Something smelled.............wrong. "Who's there?!" he hissed angerily. His first tought was the Night coming to kill him once and for all but he shook it off mentally.
