Mercury moved in his usual jumpy manner, muttering odd things to himself. He suddenly stopped and sniffed the air. He smelled water vole, and a plump one at that. Moving silently he stalked his prey. Without one sound to give him away, he launched himself onto it, crushing his prey. He lay down on the stones than, and began to eat.

Dappleface began to pad away from the new Deputy Ceremony when she smelled the air.A scent of loner maybe?She didn't care what it was,but instead padded toward it.She saw a cat catch a mouse on her territory and she hissed silently to herself.Leaping out of bushes she hissed,fur bristling(SP?)."What are you doing on Riverclan Terra?!"She spat,eyes narrowed.

"Eating, I think." Mercury replied happily. Most cats doubted he would be scared if an adder suddenly popped up in front of him. He'd probably just say hi to it. "I'm sorry, I didn't invite you..." He trailed off, waiting for her to say her name.

Mercury," Mercury replied, still cheerful. "Would you like to share my meal with me? It's not much, but it will satisfy you if you're hungry." Mercury was as unhostile as ever and apparently cheerful.

She couldn't help but smile at this...strange cat.Never once had she had a cat respond to her fierce warnings like this."I'd uh...love to."She said,padding closer.She wondered what to do now...should she take the first bite...or him?

Mercury waited, After a moment he spoke. "It's cutomary for the lady to take the first bite, and since it is you're territory...." He trailed off waiting for Dappleface to eat.

"Please, you're my guest at this meal. I refuse to eat till you start." Mercury said, shacking his head in refusal to eat. He nudged the mouse closer to Dappleface.
