Fishing and Pondering (Anyone Post)

[glow=navy,2,300]Maskedpaw found his way to the river easier then he excpetted. His mentor hadn't taken him out yet, but from his old home, Maskedpaw knew how to fish. He looked down from the bank into the clear water, and found himself glancing down at a couple shadows. 'I can do this. It will be easy... only fish.' The tom apprentice thought as he skillfully moved his dark colored up into the water and lifted a bluiesh grey fish out of the water in only a matter of seconds. He shot his unsheathed claw onto the sqruiming fish's slimey body and cast his sharp fangs into the delious smelling carp. He picked it up and carried it with him to another spot in the river where he then picked the shadow of a new fish. This is amaazing... the tom thought as his amber eyes caught the sight of the fish being captured with a blow of his paw and killed with his sharp white teeth. It was a lot easier then he had expeted it to be. His back hairs stood up when he began to see a shift of a new fish. It was decent sized, and it would look good compared to his two smaller carps. It looked like a bass. The tom lifted his paw into the water quickly, missing the large fish, and he scooped up a sharp splash carrying a ssound of the dripping water scaring away the rest of the near by fish.[/glow]

[Lilyfeather]

"Oh my. Well that can't be helpful at all." Lilyfeather said, her eyes following the fish as they swam upriver. She shook her head and turned to Maskedpaw. "You aren't new to this, are you?" she mewed, more out of curiosity than anything else.

[glow=navy,2,300]"No... I'm not." Maskedpaw turned around, stumbling on his only fours to turn himself, still shocked by his splashing mistake. He whipped his tail nercously back and forth, still not used to having someone speaking to him so kindly. Where he came from, the ordered him back and forth, yelled at him for anything that happened that he did wrong. Where he came from... was probaly the worst place you could come from, and he wasn't pround of it eather. Maskedpaw spoke again, "Atleast I have two carps. So what are you doing around here, Lilyfeather." The brown and white apprentice sat down, his ginger speckaled feet felt relxed on the muddy ground.[/glow]

[Lilyfeather]

"Ohhhh, I figured that since it's a nice day, I'd better get out while I have the chance." Lilyfeather sighed, slipping the tips of her paw into the river water. "It can't be greenleaf forever, you know. Besides, the calm of the forest is being threatened. What better time than now to enjoy what we still have?"

[Burningwing]

[glow=aqua,2,300]Streamkit skittered out of the forest. She knew she wasn't aloud leave the camp, but she was curios about the river. Stealthy, she crept toward the river, trying to keep out of sight.Her soft aqua pelt glittered from the light of the sun.Once she got to the river she reached out nervously, touching the water with her paw. Smelling it anxiously, unaware of a monster carp, just bellow the surface. It watched Streamkit, thinking she looked tasty, and leaped. It grabbed her paw and tugged her under, but not before she could yowl"HELP!".......[/glow]

[Lilyfeather]

Lilyfeather yanked her head up and shot around at the sound of Streamkit's cry. "Dear Starclan!" she cried, running down the river to where a small tail was flicking in and out of the water. She prepared herself to spring onto the carp, but due to her inexperience in hunting and her natural klutziness, she slipped on the gravel. Causing the unsteady rocks to once again fall, taking her with them straight into the river. 'Not good!, she thought, completely losing her composure the instant she hit the water. She tossed her head out of the water and looked around for Streamkit.....Who was in the other direction.

[glow=navy,2,300]Maskedpaw wacthed Streamkit and Lilyfeather one moment, and then the next, they were both in the water. Maskedpaw immediatly knew what to do, and knew it would impress the entire RiverClan if he saved a kit. He took that chance and dived into the brownish grey water. The current was a lot stronger then it looked but the masked apprentice had powerful legs witch were able to fight the current. Attempting one time to grab the she-cat's scruff. He missed and went head frst under water to where his head and neck. He pulled his head out of the water where he held his breath when he went for a second grab. He attempt was on the square because he was able to grab the scruff. He paddled with his pure white front and back paddles where he pulled against the current, and then he reached the muddy bank and then placed his paws that sunk into the brown mud. He then looked over to Lilyfeather as Maskedpaw put Streamkit down out of the clay-like mud. He waited for the mdeicine cat pull herself out of the water.[/glow]

[glow=aqua,2,300]Streamkit sputtered and coughed. Water dripped out of her mouth. She stared at Maskedpaw with glittering eyes. "Wow,"she gasped"Your a hero!"that was all she said before she breathed.....

[glow=navy,2,300]Maskedpaw coughed a little fur up. He looked down at the kit and gave the kit a little a wink before looking out torwards Lilyfeather, seeing if she needed to have help swimming onto shore, or even seeing if she needed any help. He kep his big amberorbs on her green (Not sure) ones.[/glow]

Lilyfeather spun around in the water and looked towards the shore, where Maskedpaw was leaning over Streamkit. That was quick! She thought. The medicine cat paddled over to the shore where the others sat, and pulled herself out of the water. She gently nudged Maskedpaw so she could see the kit. "Well, it's a good thing you saved her. She might've swallowed more water if you didn't." Lilyfeather looked up at him and smiled. "This kit owes you her life. C'mon, then. Let's take her back to camp. I need to look her over in my den."

[glow=navy,2,300]Maskedpaw found a shock of being moved to the back as Lilyfeather looked at Streamkit. His tail contuined to filck. His paw were still muddy brown, and his eyes colsed once to reveail a dark brown mask covering his face. Then he coughed up a little more water before replying, "Well let's go. Do you want me to carry Streamkit. I don't think she can walk... she might of swallowed to much water." Maskedpaw wasn't a medicine cat, but he knew quite a bit of stuff that a medicine cat had to know.[/glow]

A tortoiseshell queen sat in the shadows, watching the drama with interest. Having dwelt with her own thoughts for a while, this would be the first time she had socialized in..well, a long time. Her green eyes darted as she saw Maskedpaw save the kit, as well as her friend Lilyfeather's attempt. A smile twitched at the corner of her mouth. Finally, she emerged out of her hiding place. Whisperclaw, for that was her name, meowed quietly, "That was quite a save you made there." Her voice was slightly rasping, due to her misuse of it.

[Lilyfeather]

"Well, I certainly don't expect her to sleepwalk. Thank you, Maskedpaw." Lilyfeather nodded her head gratefully. "That was quite a save you made there." Lilyfeather's ears perked up, and she spun around to find Whisperclaw standing very near the brush. "Ah, Whisperclaw! Could you help us carry her over to camp?" She said, gesturing towards Streamkit with her tail.

[glow=aqua,2,300]"I can walk!" Streamkit protested. Wobbling she tried to stand but,sharp carp prickle teeth had sliced her leg. Falling back down she grunted"Maybe not..."she blushed under her fur, feeling slightly defeated. A strong fall wind caught her off guard while she was wobbling, and she tumbled down like a falling leaf.....[/glow]

[glow=navy,2,300]Maskedpaw saw Whisperclaw congratulating him on saving Streamkit, and then he said, "Thank you, Whisperclaw. Lilyfeather helped to..." He said and then, gave a small grin. He was proud of himself, there was a word that could desribe what he felf. It was one word, and it was a strong feeling, Pride. Maskedpaw had barely ever felt pide at his first home, heck, he wasn't even allowed mental pride. It was one thing to have done something, but bragging was bad news. And then the bite that was bathed in blood caught his eye. "We'ld better hurry with Streamkit..." And he waited for Lilyfeather to tell them to start to the medicine cat den.[/glow]

Whisperclaw nodded. Hearing the kit's protests, she laughed lightly, then gently picked her up between her teeth. Her words came out muffled, but they were clear enough. "So shall we set out?" Her ears pricked at the prospect, ready to socialize for the first time in a while.

Lilyfeather nodded and started to trot off to the camp. She called over her shoulder, "It wouldn't be good if it got any colder, and I want to get the bites checked out soon. Hurry on, please." For once, the medicine cat was actually taking charge of the situation. She felt in all honesty....Like she was Bluefire. Although Lilyfeather had been a medicine cat for a while now, she never felt like she could ever be as good as her confident mentor, Bluefire. And appearantly that was still true, since the moment she was shaken from her thoughts happened to be the same moment she walked smack into a tree. "Oh!" She cried, shaking her head. "I'm sorry....Where are we now?"
