In answer Northpaw lept at him, purposely over shot her mark, and landed in a heap behind Dragonheart. "Yep!" came her muffled but enthusiastic repley.

Northpaw crouched easily beside Dragonheart. She arched her back and tensed her muscles waiting to see what her mentor would show her next.

Since Dragonheart hadn't specified what exactly Northpaw had to pounce on, she sprang and landed on him. Grinning broadly, she tried to hide her impatients. Still, thought Northpaw, if he never gets around to teaching me how to fight I won't have to pretend I don't already know how.

"That was great, although you didn't need to pounce on me!" Dragonheart said as he pushed her off his back. He had noticed a little impatients in Northpaws eyes. A thought came to him, where did Northpaw come from before, does she already know how to fight?

Northpaw rolled back onto her feet, grinning at her mentors praise. She like making Dragonheart proud of her. "If I didn't have to pounce on you, you should have said so!" She half said, half laughed so the words where barely understandable.

Northpaw didn't like lying, and she wasn't very good at it any way. She looked down at her paws, and seemed to shrink a little bit. "I learned when I was very young." she mumbled. Not at all proud of the fact.

Northpaw looked down at her paws, a little embarrassed. Dragonheart sounded annoyed. "What do you want me to do?" she asked brightly, recovering from her embarrassment as she looked back up.

ooc: never mind... You won't get the joke if you haven't read it.
Northpaw nodded, embarrassed again that she had aggravated Dragon((heart or star?)). She closed her eyes to help focus on her nose- it was an old trick she had learned from hunting in the snow when scents where always muffled- and scented a shrew in a clump of grass close by. She opened her eyes and scanned the grass, there where it was leaning to the side... She crouched and was very careful to distribute her weight over all four paws so she would be as quiet as possible, then she got as close to the grass as she dared, consciouse all the while of the fact that Dragon((heart/star)) would be watching her very carefully, and sprang. Northpaw poked her head out of the grass, holding the shrew in her mouth.

"Well done!" Dragonheart said, proud of his apprentice. "Ok, end of the training session, race you back to camp!" As Dragonheart raced his apprentice back to camp, he wondered wether it would be the last time he would do so, Northpaw was ready to become a warrior now, he was sure of it. [/glow]

Northpaw sprinted after him, brimming over with delight and enthusiasm at the pride in Dragonheart's voice, she was going to bet him this time, (or so she hoped), and she would keep racing him until she did, even if he kept getting ahead start! (( ^_^))
