Padding through the sparse grass of the Moor, it was impossible to tell that Brownpaw had a limp. It was slight, but easily seen when you knew it was there. Already it had slowed her up. When the tabby Apprentice was running, you could see the limp and when her tail was streaming out behind her, you could see the kink. Scars criss-crossed her pelt, hidden mostly by her thick gur. Windstorm had given her these faults. The RiverClan cat had attacked Brownpaw for no reason and left her for dead.
Brownpaw had come here for many reasons. She had hoped to meet up with the other Apprentices, Hawkpaw, Rosepaw, Pheonixpaw, Silverpaw, her sister Winterpaw and her newly-discovered cousin, Puddlepaw.

Winterpaw sat on a stone nearby. She saw Brownpaw and Silverpaw and decided to greet them."Hello sister, hi Silverpaw,' She called out, standing up and leaving her rock. A wind ruffled her fur and she shivered as the cold bit though her fur to her skin.

Puddlepaw bounced up towards them playfully. She was the youngest out of them and still had some more training. "Hello, Brownpaw, Winterpaw, and Silverpaw," she said nodding her head for each of them.

Hawkpaw ran up, "Hey everyone!" he cried a little out of breath, "What are we doing?" he asked flashing a lopsided grin.

"Hey Silverpaw," Brownpaw greeted her friend. Smiling at him, Brownpaw felt a strange stirring inside her, and she quickly ignored it. "Hey Winterpaw, how's your training going?" Brownpaw nodded to her sister. "Hello Puddlepaw, has Dragonpelt or Redcloud spoken of our strength training?" Brownpaw stared intently at her cousin for a few moments. "Hey Rosepaw, Hawkpaw. Do any of you wanna go hunting? If we hunt together, we'll bring back enough fresh-kill to give the rest of the Clan a belly-ache!"

"Fine,' Winterpaw replied to Brownpaw.Even if it wasn't , Winterpaw wouldn't have said anything else. When the others decided to go hunting, she felt a slight stir of unease. She'd never learned to hunt! Should she try it now or wait for the other's to come back with prey, and ask where her's was. Winterpaw felt ashamed of thinking of it. She listened to the rest of the apprentices, feeling like she'd swallowed a stone.

Puddlepaw noticed her cousins's reactions. "Winterpaw?" she asked, "are you alright?" She rubbed against her cousin and purred. "Why don;t you try."

Realising, that as a Medicine Cat Apprentice, Winterpaw wouldn't have learnt to hunt, Brownpaw padded forward and rubbed her sister's maw with her own. "It's Okay, Sis, you can hunt with me, I'll teach you." She meowed softly.

Rosepaw bounded over to her friends. "Shall we begin?" she asked happily. She then stopped and looked at the ground very unexpectedly. A memory twigged. She remembered her mother for a moment. Rosepaw's smile faded and she dropped to the back of the group quietly.

A reddish falsh enetered the Clearing of the Moor. Long Ginger fur blown back in the wind, Phoenixpaw arrived just as the other apprentices were setting off. Since joining WindClan, she had focussed on her training--not so much as making friends with the other apprentices. But she had come very close to Rosepaw, who was her partner. Catching up herself in with the others she have her Stealthmate a brush of the tail in greeting.

"Rosepaw, are you alright?" Brownpaw mewed to Rosepaw, watching her friend drift away from the group. The sudden flash of red caught her eye, and Brownpaw turned to lock eyes with Phoenixpaw. Ever since Brownpaw's attack, the two had tip-toed round each other, for Brownpaw had guessed right that her attacker, Windstorm, was Pheonixpaw's Mother. "Hey, Pheonixpaw." Brownpaw greeted the crippled Apprentice, looking into her seeing eye.

Phoenixpaw glanced at her partner, Rpsepaw always seemed so bouncy and upbeat during training. This--this wa a whole different Apprentice. Unfortunately, the firey she-cat could do nothing for her friend. Although her mother, Windstorm had been very good friends with her feather she had heard nothing from Windstorm of Amberwind--her mother. Unable to aid, she turned her two-colored gaze towards Brownpaw. Instinctively, her firey banner twitched. She winked at him, for the tri-Clanned kitten couldn't blink or even move her teal-hued optical. "Good Afternoon, Brownpaw." she mewed in a greeting--nothing more nothing less. Before she greeted the rest of her Clan-mates.

Winterpaw nodded at Brownpaw. She looked at Rosepaw, who seemed upset. Winterpaw felt a tinge of guilt. Her father had killed Amberwind, and than been killed by Hollow. After Amberwind's death, Hollow left, without saying goodbye to his kits. So in a way, her father was responsible for Rosepaw's family splitting up. Winterpaw stepped next to Rosepaw."are you feeling alright?"

((I AM A GIRL!!!))
Watching her sister go off after Rosepaw, Brownpaw reflected that she and the grieving cat shared similar family problems. Brownpaw's Mother, Smoke, had died before she had been properly born. Small as a Kit, Brownie had taken her Father being a Rouge hard, nad had nearly died at the paws of The Night, if Savannahheart had not saved her. Brownpaw had joined WindClan, but before she could make her peace with her Father, Hollowheart had killed Darkfur. Rosepaw had grown up with both parents. Darkfur had struck down Amberwind and was then murdered by Hollowheart, who had then left. Brownpaw's Father had blighted Rosepaw's life and it was a wonder that the Apprentice hadn't been more aggresive to Browpaw.
Padding after her sister and friend, Brownpaw caught up with them and nuzzled Rosepaw's ear. Smiling at the grieving she-cat, the brown Apprentice tried to get her to play, batting at her legs.

((I feel so touched...))
Rosepaw smiled at Phoenixpaw as she joine dher near the back. "I am fine, just a flash back," shr replied quickening. She nodded to Browpaw and smiled a very fake smile. Brownpaw's father had killed her mother. But, she couldn't take it out on the apprentice. It wasn't Brownpaw's fault. "I am fine, really," she said again. Only, she wasn't convincing them. She was convincing her self. She smiled at Winterpaw's question and yet again answered. "I was just remembering something. Nothing more than that."
She felt Brownpaw's batter and laughed. smile that had quickly left her face. Now, it was back and she was feeling more noramal. She snipped at Brownpaw's ear more playfully.

Puddlepaw smied at the other apprentices. But, she seemed rather left out. She had also lost her father due to the fighting. She also lost her mother. She sa quietly far by a tree and watched.

With a self-dismissing flick of her tail, the autumn-hued apprenticed slipped in next to puddlepaw. Both of her parents were alive and well--only very far away. "Hey Puddlepaw..." she began, first stretching her salmon-hued tongue over her soft pinkish maw. She knew she couldn't share her herritage with the WindClanners... as far as the apprentice was concerned she was NOT a RiverClan cat... But WindClan. "You know what?!" now she was speaking to everyone. "ALL WE DO IS TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN... AND EVERY NOW AND THEN WE GET A WEE LITTLE BREAK TO EAT MAYBEE CATCH A FEW WINKS. THEN WE WAKE UP TO--SURPRISE MORE TRAINING!" She giggled and lept onto her hind-legs, trying to create a little skit.
"Rosepaw! Phoenixpaw! Come now... Silverstar waits for nocat--we must practice our stealth!" she mewed, imitating the athoritave tone of Wingclaw. "But we want to share tongues!" she whined pathetically, causing her pupils to adorabbly grow. "No! Train--Stealth--Train--Stealth!" She pounded her front paws down upon the sodden moorland and lept onto a fallen treetrunk. "But today I say we'll enjoy ourselves! WHO'S WITH ME TO FINALLY-Dare I say it? PLAY?!" She had enjoyed messing things up... she would enjoy having a break for awhile.

Winterpaw stifled a giggle and put on a serious face, that seemed to feign concern and a authoritative nature that wasn't Winterpaw's."But Phionexpaw," She said solemnly."We have to train in order to insure we can defend ourselves against other clan cats and rouges. We can't play. We must be serious at all times and train all the time to prepare our selfs to go into battle one day. Play will not increase our fighting or hunting skills sufficiently enough for us to become warriors at last before Silverstar decides on another training program." She kept up a serious, and logical tone though the entire speech. Now to see if any of the others fell for it.

Rosepaw began to laugh. She was always in the mood for playing. "Oh, come on, Winterpaw," she said pouncing on her, "you are always so serious. Lets have fun for one." She smiled and nipped at Winterpaw's ear.

Taking Pheonixpaw's suggestion to heart, Brownpaw sprang into the air and pounced, missing Pheonixpaw on purpose, instead landing next to the ginger Apprentice. She was on her blind side and she leant into Pheonixpaw, catching her breath as her muscles screamed at their sudden activity.

Phoenixpaw let a smile encounter with her face as Brownpaw sprang at her. She was glad that her mother's attack on her had not effected their friendship. Tossing a look at Winterpaw she added: "Run allong and train now hrm?" she flicked her plume-like tail in the direction of the other apprentice. "Playing won't make you a warrior." she cast a gaze at Brownpaw. "I suppose warriorism is more importaint than Friendship and fun... to you atleast." she Shrugged and pounced ontop of Brownpaw, and playfully dabbed at her nose. "You're it!" she laughed as she sped through the moor, avoiding 'it'. So if Winterpaw didn't want to play tag--who cared?

"Hey!" Brownpaw laughed and sped after Silverpaw, cahsing his silver form. Gaining on him, the tabby Apprentice sprang forward and brushed her paw against his shoulder. "You're it, my love!" Brownpaw cried, forgetting what she was saying. Instead, she darted off to Pheonixpaw. "Don't tease my sister, Pheonixpaw," Her voice was low and firm, loud enough only for Pheonixpaw to hear it. Brownpaw had had the grace to remain friends with Pheonixpaw after her fight with Windstorm, but, for Brownpaw at least, the friendship was still fragile, and when it came to families, the tabby Apprentice supported her own against Pheonixpaw's.

Phoenixpaw stopped with a skid that send a cloud of brown dust into the air. "Cough-cough, What? Cough." she shook her head and limped out of the dust-storm and came to sit next to Brownpaw. C o c k i n g Her head at the other apprentice, Phoenixpaw shook her head to her. "I wasn't Teasing her..." she mewed, half annoyed of Brownpaw. "I was staing my opinion!" she began to snap at the sienna she-cat. "I was teasing her as she was teasing me... and I suppose in you're opinion, you're beloved sister can do no wrong." she flahed a firey look at the other apprentices that were staring at her. "I suppose in you're logic... I can do no wrong." she turned back to brownpaw and gave him a look of burnt justicce with her one valid eye.

"She was merely saying that playing is not the same as training, Pheonixpaw," Brownpaw mewed. The tabby Apprentice realised that she had a weapon against the cripple, Brownpaw could reveal Windstorm's attempted murder on her. No. Brownie was not her Father, and she never would be. Instead, the tabby cat broke the tension that had hung thick in the air and pounced on the ginger she-cat.[/colour]
