(( I got this from another one of Starclan's sites called Realms of Light and Shadow; It was written by Shujin))
Realms of Light and Shadow, one of the newest Proboards sites, has a policy of being a clean, friendly site. I am relatively new to the site, but from what I've seen so far, this has been a thoroughly detailed site. I enjoy RPing with the other members, and I always welcome new members. Generally, I am a very civil fellow, whose only "insults" are of a playful nature. Yet there is ONE thing I cannot abide: Noobs. The scourge of any online community, Noobs can very easily disrupt the smooth processing of any site, and quickly turn a peaceful community into a severly annoyed Anti-Noob Defense Council. This of course means the main purpose of the site is lost, and that makes me very sad. Some people may be Noobs and not know it simply due to inexperience. Also remember that just because you are new, you are not necessarily a Noob. To identify Noobishness and, if necessary, purge yourself of the dreaded condition, please review the following Noob facts:
1. Chat speak: It is perfectly acceptable to use some chat speak in order to shorten your sentences (such as using lol instead of saying "laugh out loud"). Saying, "rofl, lol, dat was de funee suxors!", however, is a sign of severe Noobishness. In that case, please learn to use proper English before posting again.
2. Hit-Ons: The idea behind this RP site is to enjoy a fantasy community and make new friends; it is quite possible you will grow to like one of our members. Coming here to hit on someone (who may not even be the right gender for you) is yet another sign of Noobishness. Please find a girlfriend/boyfriend in the REAL world!
3. Stupidity Coupled with Randomness: Being random can be fun; specific boards are devoted to asking what games or music members like; those are perfectly fine, because while they're not necessarily related to the main site itself, they're still purposeful on their own merits. Posting random phrases such as the following wherever you please disrupts the members' conversations, and generally bothers the heck out of everyone."CHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSEEE!!!" It's okay to be random; it's okay to occasionally be accidently stupid. Purposefully being stupidly random (especially in an actual RP board) can be frustrating to other members who have actual items of interest. Please just write cheese in your journal.
Remember, a Noob is someone who displays the preceding characteristics; a newbie is just someone entering the site for the first time; they are NOT the same thing. If I am offending anyone who displays the symptoms, I apologize, but urge you to please take the advice posted at the end of each symptom. Hopefully, this FAQ will help minimize Noobness on this wonderful site; that is all I ask, as it's just about my only pet peeve. Thank you for your time!
