Who is Phantom?

Hiding in the thorn bushes, watching for the elusive siamese Rouge who had held her captive, Silentpaw contemplated being a Warrior-aged Apprentice. The other younger Apprentices, would often laugh at the poor she-cat, and only a few cats showed her kindness: her Brother, Brightsun, her Mother, Wolffire, her Mentor, Windchaser and the Medicine Cat, Willowtail. Hearing the thud thud of pawsteps, Silentpaw concentrated as she saw a cat come into view.

it was bloodclaw he figerd that because now he was mates with a rouge he could be in the rouge camp

Phantom saw Silentpaw immediatly. He walked up to the apprentice, a surprised look on his face."What in the world are you doing here?" He asked immediatly, in a slightly angrey tone. He glanced mervously around.

Silentpaw's icey orbs burned blue fire as she stared at this tom, a mirror image of herself. "I want to know who you are, Phantom?" The siamese she-cat's ivory claws were unsheathed into the soft earth beneath her paws, comforting her. "It was you and your kind who held me prisoner as a Kit and now I am an adult Apprentice! This humiliation gives me some right, and a few of those are questions. I deserve to know a bit about my tormentor."

[Silentclaw]

"I never tormented you, but I'll answer your questions." replied Phantom sitting down.

[Silentpaw]

"Why are you a Rouge?" Silentpaw mewed, staring up defiantly at the tom who mirrored her appearance.

[Silentclaw]

"I'm a rouge because no clan could provide me with a mission or purpose inl ife." Phantom said and looked around the clearing."So I became a spy and found the rouges could use me. So the answer is that I'm a rouge because it gives me a purpose other than just hunting and talking." He turned back to Silentpaw."What's your next question?" He asked.

[Silentpaw]

"Do you want ShadowClan destroyed as was SunClan?" Even as the words slipped from her throat, Silentpaw was aware that she was on dangerous ground.

(Sorry it took me so long to post back.)

Phantom looked away for a moment. "...No." He said at last. His voice was colder now tan it had been before." He turned back to her, light golden orbs taking on a slightly blue tint, a sign of Sunclan blood, as he spoke. "Not that it is any of your concern. You should go, before someone spots us together." He began to stand up.

Realising that she had hit a sore spot, Silentpaw pressed on, ignoring Phantom's warning. "Do you know my Mother? Do you want her to die? Do you know Willowtail, the kind Medicine Cat who has nursed me? Do you want her to die? What about Moonstar, Windchaser, Arrowpelt? What about my brother, Brightsun? Do you want them dead?"

Phantom felt irritation, and anger rush over him, making him speak without thinking. "Of course I don't, I love Willowtail. I love my family, even if they don't know it." Phantom turned to Silentpaw, and was reminded of his own mother. "I've watched those I've loved murdered before my eyes. It won't happen again! I won't let it!" Phantom said vehemently. "No matter what, I won't let my loved ones die once more because of me. Even if it means being a rouge till I die, or destroying the clans, I will never let them perish like Sunclan! Now leave!" His eyes glowed blue when previously they had been amber.

"You are a fool if you think joining the Rogues is going to help ShadowClan!" Silentpaw hissed, her azure orbs flashing fire. "The Night intends to destroy the Clans, and she will destroy Willowtail with it!" As she yowled snarled at the Rogue, Silentpaw became aware of how his own orbs flashed with the same fire that her's did. They were patterned exactly the same, and their anatomy was close, as if she was the mirror image of Phantom. Could it be...? "You're my Father, aren't you?"

[Silentclaw]

"If I said yes, would you leave?" hissed Phantom exasperated. His eyes were fading back to a light yellow color. He narrowed his eyes at her, still slightly angry with the full-grown apprentice. Mentally he winced, wishing he had been there to help her. Mabey he could have trianed her, and than mabey they would be like a family... His thoughts trailed off and Phantom ignored them.

"You don't understand, do you?" Silentpaw hissed, her voice low and menacing as she padded closer to the Rogue. Her nose was level with his and she stared into his orbs, her own azure ones defiant, burning with passionate rage as she regarded the tom before her. "Ever since you became a Rogue, you began to help to destroy the Clans, to destroy ShadowClan; Willowtail, Moonstar, Windchaser, Thunderfang...they could all die because of you. And you don't care. My heritage is important and I deserve to know it."

[Silentclaw]

"You don't deserve a rat's tail!" Phantom snapped finally losing his patience. "Just because you use the words 'I deserve,' and try to put me though a guilt trip doesn't mean you deserve something. It shows me you haven't learned how to talk to someone else with a shred of respect, even if you believe them to be your father." His voice wasn't raised, but spoken low and vehemently. Phantom continued. "You act as if you know the story of each rouge and find the same evil desires. Yet you've never talked to us, you've never tried to see life though our eyes, you've just seen how your life is affected by some of us and you believe you deserve something? No, not until you get to know someone do you try and make them regret being born." Phantom turned around. "I'll let you know I am your father. The rest you'll have to prove you can handle before I'll tell you." He began to walk away.

His words did not come as a shock to the she-cat, for in the back of ehr mind, she had sensed this since she was a Kit. "If you do not dabble in darkness, then how could you keep me, your own daughter, captive until I was a weak thin adult, too sick to so much as defend myself?" As she referred to herself as Phantom's daughter, Silentpaw recoils slightly, for she has remembered the love that the Rogue mentioned for Willowtail. "Wolffire isn't my Mother, is she? Is it Willowtail?"

[Silentclaw]

"Remember, it was not I who kept you here." Phantom snapped. Turning slightly. He thought for a moment than added. "Why don't you ask her for yourself? It is her story." He turned and continued to walk away.

[Silentpaw]

"I want my Father to answer my questions," Silentpaw mewed, boldly gazing into Phantom's shining blue eyes, her own azure orbs an exact copy. "I have seen other Kits maintaining a good relationship with their Fathers, and I wished for that strong bond that I never felt. It affected my Brother, Brightsun, greatly, when he was made a Warrior, for he only had Wolffire and his Mentor to look to. I wasn't even in the Camp when that happened!"

Phantom sighed and turned around to look at Silentpaw. He tried talking with his daughter using a different approach. "I know for a fact that their kits are less bossy, and a bit nicer to their fathers," Phantom replied, his voice slightly scolding but not angry."If you want to complain about my not being there, talk to your mother. She was the one who wanted me never to see you and you never to know I was your father. About you not being in camp..." Phantom tailed off. He watched Silentpaw, waiting for a reaction.

C o c k i n g her head to one side, the siamese Kit regarded her Father with steady azure orbs. "Go on?" Even as she spoke, Silentpaw knew that she may not be able to go back from what she ahd brought upon herself.

[Silentclaw]

Phantom sighed inwardly. "I'm busy with my own plans, and I'm afraid there was no way to get you out. You were closely gaurded and I was closely watched. Luckily Willowtail was there to safe you." Phantom spoke softly, and in a distant voice. He hadn't mentioned that Willowtail was Silentpaw's mother, intending for Silentpaw to ask Willotail about it.

Silentpaw's azure orbs took on a hard glint as she stared into Phantom's. She was an exact mirror image of the Rogue standing before her, and she hated looking at the original from which she was copie from. "And what will you do if The Night orders you in a patrol to attack ShadowClan?" The adult-aged Apprentice mewed, her voice bitter.

[Silentclaw]

"Save my family, than die at her claws." Phantom said, looking far away. He'd thought it over, and decided that was what would happen if he was ordered to kill his family. "I'll take her with me, if I can. Make no mistake though," His eyes seemed to focus on Silentpaw's."She will find out. She's setting up a trap, that when the time comes, she will spring, catching me as easily as you can catch a mouse." Phantom was quiet, looking at something far away that no one but he could see.

Surprisingly, Silentpaw felt sympathy for her Father. His eyes told her that his words were true, that he knew his fate was coming sooner than others, that he would never see old age. "I...I don't know if you are telling the truth about Willowtail, but...whoever my Mother is...am I like her at all? Or am I all you?" The last words were teasing slightly, her azure orbs dancing. "So you wouldn't hurt your family, but would you let the rest of ShadowClan die?"

[Silentclaw]

Phantom seemed to smile slightly. "You get your stubborness from her." As she mentioned letting the rest of Shadowclan die, his face became expressionless again. "She won't kill them all, you know." He said. "They are far more useful alive. A few, such as the high ranking clan cats and maby a few rebellious warriors may be killed to set an example. I'm not exactly sure what she wants, but I know Dark won't let her kill them all." He gave Silentpaw a moment to digest these facts.

"What will happen to me?" Silentpaw mewed, her little blue disks expressionless as she regarded her Father. It was amazing how feelings could change so quickly, and already she was feeling sympathy for the Rogue. Carrying on, she mewed, "You don't have to die, you know. If you joined ShadowClan, you would be protected."

[Silentclaw]

"You'll live." Phantom replied and thought about her second question for a moment."I've made to many enemies in the clans to be welcomed back. And even if I could, I wouldn't. Shadowclan has never given me a reason to stay except my family. I needed, and still need a purpose in live or else I might just wallow in my misery and die." Phantom sighed inwardly, looking away. That hadn't come out the way he wanted, but he didn't know exactly how to explain his thoughts.
