A black she-cat sat as still as she could muster on a little boulder beside the river's pebbled shore. Her long tail waded partially into the river. Curl. Uncurl. Wait. Curl. Uncurl. Wait. Repeatedly this pattern droned. On and on. Spiritwhisper yawned. Sometimes she found this technique of fishing so boring. Maybe it was because her constantly curling tail kept scaring away fishes as soon as they came close enough to pounce. She sighed and pulled up her tail to start grooming it dry. It was soaked, but after some air got under it, it was dry. However quick this took, everything has it's consequences. Not Spiritwhisper's bottom half of the tail was frizzed, the fur sticking up in all directions. She paid no mind to this new hair-do and turned around to face the water, a paw outstretched towards the calm river below, ready to snatch a fish as soon as it came into her radar.
A medium sized fish soon came up. It's scales were dark brown, but they looked like a polished golden as the sun shown on them. For a moment, Spiritwhisper was dazzled. It really good look beautiful against the murky surroundings. Too soon, the fish was dead, however, and the spectacle was over. She broke the fishes spine by biting it's neck just in case. Now in the shadow the fish looked plain ugly. Well, she should have never expected the fish to be beautiful. She leaned again for a second fish staring intently at the water.
There was a noise behind the black she-cat. It's claws clicked on the stone and it's tail swished lazily. Though it was being sneaky. You could barely here it. Luckily, Spiritwhisper got distracted quite easily and heard it. She sniffed the air. It was a raccoon! Those stupid raccoons. They were always stealing their catches. Her green as flashed in anger as she spun around to face the masked bandit. She was clumbsy in the doing though. Spiritwhisper only got a short glimpse before she lost her footing and fell from the boulder backwards. She made a loud splash as she hit the water. She gasped as the river's cold water rushed her. Why did it have to be so cold out. Spiritwhisper looked up at the boulder with a scowl. The raccoon took it's leisure and started eating the fish at the edge of the boulder, nearest to her, looking down at Spiritwhisper with what she took to be a smirk.
