River water churned below her, spiralling down the riverbed until it was out of sight, and another wave was rolling past. Birds trilled out from the trees, bright, vibrant feather plumed out and flashing in the brilliant rays of sunlight. Icepaw sat silently at the shore, her fur unusually light, as though a mound of snow had never melted from winter. Her dark blue eyes stared out at the forest on the other side of the stream, the territory belonging to Thunderclan.
A sigh escaped from her. A brilliant day and nothing to do. what a bore. The lithe young she-cat dreaded killing, so hunting only lowered her mood. Despite the fact the she-cat was an extraordinary hunter, she felt guilt for every animal that she struck. Movement. The leaves on the opposite bank rustled, sending small dew drops cascading away from the bushes. "Wh-who's there?" Icepaw mewed, pelt held bristled.

Brilliant rays of sunlight shone down upon the river, reflecting their cheerful shine onto the world around it. Wind caused the trees surrounding the river to sway in a simple rhythm. Left... right... left... right. Songs of the newly arrived birds brought the clearing to life, river water adding to their happy song.
Riverpaw lay upon a large stone near the RiverClan border. The stone's smooth surface calmed the young tom and sent chills down his spine, while the warm sunlight cascaded down upon him through the tall trees. The sun's rays created a glow around his handsome tabby pelt. In the calming atmosphere, Riverpaw's emerald green eyes were wide with boredom. They moved side to side like ping pong balls, searching desperately for something to do. His brother had been too busy to work on his training lately, leaving the young tom with nothing to do but relax.
Suddenly something bright caught his eyes. Ears pricked forward, Riverpaw raised his head. His gaze followed the beautiful orange and black dappled monarch butterfly that floated before him. He licked his lips, as if staring at a piece of prey. Gracefully he stepped off the stone, his long legs relieved to be stretched out. The butterfly landed, much to Riverpaw's delight. Butterfly catching was better then nothing. Lashing his tail, Riverpaw crouched low into a stalking position.
His steps were light and delicate, stalking the butterfly as if stalking a pheasant. Riverpaw kept his eyes glued to the colorful creature. In that process, however, he took a misstep. Crack! The twig below him snapped in two. The butterfly, disturbed by the sudden noise, fluttered off toward the river. Determined that his game should not end, Riverpaw charged after it, his paws pounding on the forest floor.
The butterfly stopped again on a fern beside the river shore. Again Riverpaw crouched low, keeping his distance as he stalked this time. It was then that the fishy scent of RiverClan reached his nose, and he allowed his eyes to tear away from the butterfly for a split second. What caught his eye stunned him, and he felt them widen.
Across the river was a beautiful she-cat. Her pelt was like a batch of new-fallen snow. Riverpaw gazed at her eyes, eyes like a river melted after Leafbare. She was just sitting there, looking into the water. Riverpaw was amazed at the beauty that the she-cat possessed, and he knew he could hear his heart pounding. His heart beat so loud, he could barely hear the she-cat's mew. "Wh-who's there?"Feeling bold, Riverpaw stepped out of the bushes, ignoring the fact that he scared the butterfly off. He trotted merrily toward the river, stopping just before he crossed the border. "Hiya," he purred in his unusually high voice. "What are you doing out here on such a great day?" Riverpaw, waiting for a response, sat down still on his side of the border and wrapped his tail over his paws.

{I read Riverpaw's bio to learn more about him ;D}
Many said she was beautiful, that she had inherited her grandmothers glowing looks, and yet her heart felt barren. Her fur was long and flowing, not fluffy, but flowing, making her look twice as much as a snow drift with her pelt of freshly fallen snowflakes. One eye bright blue like a dripping icicle with sunlight reflecting through it, the other amber like the flicking flare of a wax candle light. She had been facing the river with her clear blue eyes towards the opposite shore, but now turned to reveal the other side of her face as a young Thunderclan apprentice appeared through the bracken. His fur was tabby, with dark black stripes like cobwebs twining through his brown pelt. A white marking on the front of his chest was shaped slightly like a handkerchief, as though someone had tied it around his neck.
A monarch butterfly made a jagged beeline through the air, sweeping its bright orange wings elegantly, then swooping down to perch on Icepaw's still ear, its antenna shivering. A small smile graced her delicate features as the insect then took a stroke of its wings to fly away into the forest behind her. Hunting was difficult, although other apprentices chased and killed thing, the she-cat didn't. The reason; Icepaw figure, there was no Starclan, and once you died, you were just, gone. She felt slightly ashamed about it, so she told no one of her thoughts, but they still swirled around her mind like white rapids in the river below her. She turned her attention back to the tom that was staring at her from across the water. It was slightly unnerving.
"What are you doing out here on such a great day?"
The sudden question surprised her, and she looked up, almond eyed wide and shy. She was sure that the bracketing of her heart was louder then a doves wings, and it drowned out the rush of the river from her ears. Such a simple question, yet it filled her with unease. What could she say she was doing? She could always say nothing, and get the chance to look like a goof. Her long white whisker twitched insecurely. No, she would answer truly, perhaps with a bit of exaggeration on the side.
"Oh, nothing, I just enjoy...um... watching the river go by. Very pleasant." Icepaw mewed, slightly unconvincingly. "You?'
She waited for an answer, well aware that the bright glow of scarlet on her cheeks would appear clearly on her fine white fur as easily as the stars in the sky on a cloudless night. Emotions were hard to conceal, especially when she was faced with a handsome tom. Cattails tickled her ears as a swift breeze combed the area. A giggle swelled in her throat, but she resentfully held it in.

[[ Cool I couldn't find Icepaw's bio yet, but I'm still looking]]
Riverpaw's tail thumped across the ground, much like the way a dog wagged its tail. His emerald green eyes were alight with the joy he felt on this amazing day. It seemed like the tom's mood could never be brought down. There was always a glow in his eyes or a smile dazzling across his face. Now, there was both. His eyes shone as he looked at the she-cat that was only a river away. A warm smile spread across his face. The friendly appeal he possessed was always a comforting sight to anyone.
Riverpaw could feel his eyes widening at the sight of the butterfly landing on the beautiful white she-cat's ear. It was such a picture-perfect moment, he was glad to have witnessed it. The smile remained on his face, though he had a feeling it must've been creepy to be staring at a grinning apprentice. Riverpaw just couldn't help but smile. There was nothing not to smile at in his opinion.
The she-cat's insecurity was clear in Riverpaw's eyes, and he felt bad for putting her in an awkward position. He kept the friendly smile on his face, trying in his own way to reassure the cat. "Oh, nothing, I just enjoy...um... watching the river go by. Very pleasant." Her voice was so soft, Riverpaw had to let out a soft purr. He barely heard the she-cat ask what he was doing. Seeing the blush of scarlet on the she-cat's white cheeks made the tips of his ears feel hot as well."Me? Oh, nothing really. I've been trying to catch that butterfly that clearly has a liking for you."Riverpaw meowed, a small chuckle escaping his lips as well. Feeling that he should introduce himself, Riverpaw continued."My name's Riverpaw."

Icepaw beamed. It was hard not to. Sun light nipped playfully at her ears and river spray flecked her paws. The brown cattails bobbed in the wind, and sparkling silver fish flashed beneath the surface of the water, scales shimmering from the reflected light filtering through. Her smile was wide like a melon slice, teeth sharp like icicles hanging from her mouth. When you smile, they say you always get on in return. In this case, it was true. The tabby tom got a smile in exchange for his own smile.
Her multi-coloured eyes dazzled in the vibrant golden rays, almond shaped gems placed in her skull. Her mother, Blackthorn had eyes that glowed purple, and it seemed as though Icepaw had inherited it, for at night, her blue eye was like a plum , a soft, vivid purple. But wait...This friendly tom, she wanted to know him better yet, if she told him of her heritage, would he reject her? Icepaws mother had been known as a violent cat, it seemed no one took the chance to know her.
Her ears once again grew burning hot as the snowy white she-cat realized that she had been simply grinning silently for a few moments. Blinking rapidly, she tried to fix her mistake by offering her name. " I'm Icepaw."
Short and sweet. That's what she tried to convince herself. But she felt as though she had said to little. Riverpaw had been open and friendly towards her, yet she only let a few short sentences be heard by his ears. It was hard to make cats feel welcome when she was shy.
A sudden trill filled the air as a heron erupted into the sky in a flash of grey-glue feathers, its wings spread wide as it soared higher and higher, its neck held back. A few feathers cascaded down and tickled Icepaw's nose. Although she tried to hold it back, a small choo escaped her, and sent the feather once again spiralling, only this time towards Riverpaw on the opposite shore. She couldn't resist to let herself go, and a melodic laugh filled the air.

Riverpaw grinned at the sight of the she-cat smiling back at him. She seemed to feel more relaxed around him now. Seeing her still grinning a few moments later made him want to laugh. Though the cat seemed embarrassed, she also seemed to be letting herself go.
" I'm Icepaw."
His eyes clouded, but just for a moment. Blinking once, the happy glow returned to their emerald green depths. Icepaw... the same name that his sister was given. His sister, that would constantly sting him with words. His sister that left with his other sister and mother. Looking at Icepaw, he realized that she was nothing like his sister. She was such a sweet cat. Riverpaw knew that he had no right to compare the two.
The trill of a heron broke into his thoughts. Riverpaw allowed his eyes to stray from the beautiful she-cat and gaze upwards at the majestic bird. The blue-gray feathers blended in well with the clear blue sky. He watched as, like rain, feathers fell from the graceful bird's wings and float toward the earth- one floating toward Icepaw as well.
The sight of the feathers tickling Icepaw's nose made Riverpaw grin again. Icepaw's laugh echoed across the river, filling his ears with the melodic sound. He barely noticed the feather floating toward him until it was now tickling his nose. Riverpaw felt his nose scrunching up as he batted playfully at the feather with his paws. The feather floated away, back toward the river. Riverpaw wouldn't stand for it though. Crouching low like he had with the butterfly, he ran after the blue-gray feather.
It landed on a smooth rock near the water. His eyes narrowed in mock-determination, Riverpaw lunged, landing clumsily on the rock. He reached down, grabbing the feather in his mouth. He didn't notice the cold water on his paws until it sweeped him off his feet. Riverpaw found himself in the cold river water just moments later. Stunned by the sudden burst of cold, Riverpaw jumped out of the water, landing on the RiverClan side of the border.
Water dripped down his tabby pelt. He grinned sheepishly, the feather still held in his mouth. Bowing his head playfully, Riverpaw dropped the feather at Icepaw's paws.
"For you,"he purred, the grin still on his face.
