[glow=black,2,300]After Pharaoh's recent nap in the tree in ThunderClan, he had gotton bored, and a bit hungry. There was only one way to resolve this, and that was to go to the river. What other place could provide amusement and food? Nowhere, that where! Alright, that was a complete lie, but it does provide a very good plot device!
By now it was in the middle of winter, and a light snow had fallen. It wasn't enough to create a blanket of snow, but it had covered the grass in a thin dusty snow, making it cold and hard. The grass would crumble beneath Pharaoh's feet, making a loud crunch with every step. The icy air drove much of the prey into their dens, making it seem very quite. The sky was filled with the dark heavy clouds which had dropped the snow earlier. It would have seemed to Pharaoh like one of those end-of-the-world movies with the guy who was the only living person on Earth if Pharaoh wasn't a cat who hadn't seen that movie.
At last Pharaoh arrived at the river. Ah, the scenery! The shore, which was covered in tiny pebbles. The hill, that led to ThunderClan's territory, the cat tails that hung over the frozen river.
Wait, frozen?
Pharaoh sprinted down to the river, bounding down the hill. This was a very bad idea though, since there was a tiny drop off in the land right below him. He flew over the shore and straight into the river, hitting the ice with a painful thunk. Yep, the river was definitely frozen. Slowly, slowly, Pharaoh raised himself up. When one leg slipped from under him, he would try to steady himself with the remaining three. Once up, he carefully prodded the river, to see how thick the ice was. He had to be careful, if the ice wasn't thick enough then he might fall in. He tapped the ice with his tail. Alright, it can stand that. He pushed down on the ice with one paw. It could stand that too. Eventually, Pharaoh got to the point where he was jumping up and down on the ice. This was pretty thick stuff!
Pharaoh looked down the river. He could hear running water further down, but it was fairly far away. This must be the only part of the river that was frozen.[/glow]
