First Time Training (Twilightpelt)

[Iceface]

Icepaw sat down on the stony beach waiting on his mentor to begin their first lessons together. Icepaw was so excited. The apprentice bounded up from where he was and started to claw at invisible foes. "Take that and that!" Icepaw meowed imagining himself fighting two large cats all by himself.

[Wolverineclaw]

Twilightpelt padded out onto the beach and saw Icepaw fighting. He laughed a little to himself. "You are going to make a fine warrior," he said, announcing his presence.

[Iceface]

"Twilightpelt!" Icepaw merrowed. "I was...eh...practicing." The newly made apprentice professed. "So what are we going to do today mentor?" Icepaw questioned hopeing he'd get to do something adventurous.

[Iceface]

Icepaw danced from side to side. "Come on Twilightpelt what do you have planned?" Icepaw beckoned growing impaitent.

[Wolverineclaw]

"Hm, well, I'll let you decide, we can do a little fishing since we're right here by the river....Or I can show you some fighting moves." Twilightpelt smiled at the young cat's enthusiem, he felt lucky to even have an apprentice, and hoped he would be a good mentor.

[Iceface]

"Show me your best moves!" Icepaw exclaimed. "That way I can beat any cat without a problem." Icepaw went back to strafeing side to side in anticapation.

[Wolverineclaw]

Twilightpelt couldn't help but smile. "Alright, my best move." He stretched his back legs before stretching his front ones. "Run forward and claw at there eyes, that is a senstive and crippling place." He pawed the air in demonstration. "Then while that distracts them run beside your opponet and give him a good kick in the ribs. That should send him to the ground. Then you can either go for the throat or you can claw at his stomach."

[Iceface]

Icepaw pictured a tall brown tom in his head. "Got it." Icepaw breathed in, then darted towards his invisible oppenent. He sent his claws straight out wards, aiming for the eyes, as soon as he touched the ground he steped a little a delivered a kick towards the imaginary cat and twisted around for a quick bite to his foe's throat. "So...just like that right?" Icepaw looked happily at Twilightpelt. Finally he was learning to battle.

[Wolverineclaw]

Twilightpelt nodded ethusastically. "Yeah, that was great! Just make sure to extended your leg fully when you kick and put a lot of force into. If you keep learning like this you'll be a warrior before you know it." It was really exciting to be training somone, to teach them. Twilightpelt found he was enjoying have an apprentice. It was helping to keep his mind off Angelfur as well.

[Iceface]

Icepaw somersaulted backwards. "Alright!" Icepaw yowled with joy. "Now whats next?" Icepaw forced himself to sit down, his pride filled enthusiasm threaten to boil over.

[Wolverineclaw]

"Since you know an attack, you need to know the defence for that attack. Now, if I were going to claw at your eyes, how would you try to avoid it?" Twilightpelt sat down as well, his tail curling around his paws.

[Iceface]

Icepaw tried to focus, attacking was fun and easy to remember what to do, he never pictured himself on the defensive..."I'd duck and go for their exposed chest or stomach." Icepaw stated in an unsure manner. Offense is the best defense the apprentice thought to himself.

[Wolverineclaw]

"Mm, good. Another option is to always leap back, or jump to the side. If you can get out of your attackers line of vision, you have a better chance of scoring a hit," Twilightpelt said.

[Iceface]

Icepaw sat down trying to proces Twilightpelt's suggestions. "If I leapt backwards wouldn't my attacker just leap again after me?" Icepaw asked with all seriousness.

[Wolverineclaw]

"Yes, but at least you have a moment or two to prepare yourself for the attack. Or to attack yourself, you can always meet your oponet half way," Twilightpelt said with a short nod, his mind slipping back to the days of his mentor. It was a little harder than he thought it would be. In battle you just reacted. Passing that information onto someone else forced you to think it out and explain it in understandable terms.

[Iceface]

"Hmm..." Icepaw thought for a long while twitching his tail..."OKAY!" Icepaw shouted. "I got it! I leap back wait for the strike then attack my opponent right when he goes for me." Icepaw's mind pictured himself colliding with a tom and using his claws to rake inside the attacking cats exposed chest. "At least that way no one will call you a coward." Icepaw was radiating (figurativly) with energy and pride.

[Wolverineclaw]

"Good, good!" Twilightpelt nodded as he imagined Icepaw preforming the move on another cat. "I just hope you never have to use these moves in battle."

[Iceface]

Icepaw sat down. "What do you mean hope to never use these moves?" Icepaw turned his head sideways. " I want to dive into battle as soon as I'm ready. Strike without hesitation, get caught up in the storm of it all." Icepaw's eyes gleamed with hope as he spoke with his mentor.

[Wolverineclaw]

Twilightpelt smiled a little. He could remember when he had been apprentice, he had had the same asperations. "Battle is not something to hope for. It is a horrible thing, but necessary. It never really sets in until you lose fellow warriors, or see cats devasted by war." He didn't want to squash the young cat's enthusism, but fighting was only part of war. It wasn't all heroism and glamor.

[Iceface]

(sorry been battling a computer virus, and plain forgetfulness.)

"I see." Icepaw said as he scraped his claws along the pebbles. "It's just ever since I was a kit I've wanted to fight, and hear the howl of battle." Icepaw looked up at the sky with pride. "To be in the middle of it all...it seems like that is what Starclan wants from me." Icepaw shoke his head. "Anyways...now how bout we get catch something so Dragonstar doesn't have our fur." Icepaw said nodding at the stream full of fish.
