Becoming Leader

[glow=red,2,300]Dragonheart padded swiftly through the small path through Highstones. Lilyfeather was in front and Snowpelt behind. They had left the apprentices to keep watch outside, so the three of them continued alone. [/glow]

Snowpelt felt the brush of stone against his sides; he was breathing heavily with excitement. He had never seen the Moonstone before; for once, he might--just might--share tongues with StarClan! Maybe he could see his mate again. Lightpaw's mother.

Lightpaw grumbled, standing outside Mothermouth. The stone was hard on her soft RiverClan pads; it was boring, just sitting her and doing nothing! At least she had company, though--Northpaw sat beside her, probably just as bored as she.

[Lilyfeather]

"Just a bit further..." said Lilyfeather, gesturing with her tail down the dark, narrow passageway. They had walked for quite a while already, and it still seemed as if the passage went on for miles of darkness. "I always get a little nervous walking down here..." said Lilyfeather, struggling to keep the shakiness in her voice hidden. "It makes one feel a little isolated, doesn't it?"

[glow=red,2,300]Dragonheart padded on and soon began to feel excitement blossoming in his chest. When he next walked down this narrow path, he could be leader! As soon as his thought had given him a burst of energy he emerged into the cavern and there was the Moonstone. He sat down and waited for the right time with his tail curled around his paws.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Snowpelt stopped dead. His tail twtiched in amazement as he stared at the Moonstone. What would happen? Would he share tongues with StarClan, with his mate, his family? Everyone who had left him? Would he have a vision?

Would StarClan tell his secrets?

He hadn't thought of it before. No one but he knew Lightpaw was his daughter, not even she. Would StarClan tell Dragonstar that one of his most loyal warriors franchized with a WindClan cat? No; they couldn't. They wouldn't.

Why was he hoping, anyway? He couldn't share tongues with StarClan. He was a warrior, no leader, no medicine cat, no special cat. Why had he let himself even think that far was new. So he went back to the tunnel entrance and took a seat, watching his leader and medicine move towards the stone. This might take a while.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]After a while a beam of light hit the Moonstone and it became a mass of what looked like stars. It was so bright that he had to close his eyes for a second to get used to it. Then he moved towards to the Moonstone beconing for Lilyfeather to follow him. He lay down his nose growing cold as it touched the cool surface of the Moonstone and soon fell into a deep sleep.[/glow]

OOC: Sorry it took so long! My computer hasn't been working for a while....

ic: Northpaw scuffled at the dirt with her paws, utterly bored and burning with curiosity to know what was happening inside. She looked up at Lightpaw who was sitting right beside her. I wonder if she's bored to.... she thought for about the thousandth time.

[glow=red,2,300]Lightpaw glanced at Northpaw. "What's taking them so long?" she mewed. She twitched her tail annoyingly and looked at the entrance. She wished she could share tongues with StarClan! Maybe she could meet her mom.

"What do you think you'd see, if we got to see the Moonstone?" she asked Northpaw.[/glow]

[Lilyfeather]

Lilyfeather stepped up to the Moonstone next to Dragonheart, gingerly touching the stone with one paw. Immediately she felt its' effects, nearly tripping as the waves of drowsiness came upon her. 'This again...' she thought, trying to recall the moment when she became medicine cat. This, she knew, was going to be a very special moment for Dragonheart, and she felt it best if she could relate to him with her own fuzzy memories. 'Starclan awaits, though...' thought the medicine cat, finally passing out.

"Hello, Dragonheart," said a whisper. "It is nice to see you again." All of a sudden, the cats were in a large field, and Stormstar stood at the head of them. "Ah, my dear friend, when I made you Deputy, I knew you'd be a fine leader."
He smiled. "How do you like it? The responsibilies are hard, but I knew you'd make it. You are a proud RiverClan cat, and after Wind--" He stopped. "I know it might still be painful, but not worries, we are here to move on."

"I don't know..."said Northpaw, a hint of strain in her voice, "No one really does I guess.... Well, except the cats that already have," she finished. She didn't sound all together there. She couldn't help but thinking, Would my brother be up there? If he was then that meant.... But..... Well, I'll just have to hope, that's all. She turned back to Lightpaw,"What do you think you'd see?"

[glow=red,2,300]Dragonheart gazed in awe at Stormstar, seeing the leader he had known for so long in the shinning ranks of Starclan, was almost more than he could bare. "Stormstar...." The word slipped from his mouth in a whisper. "I am so glad to be here..." His voice trailed out and he sat still staring at Stormstar.[/glow]

[Dogstar must be busy, I'll do it.]

Stormstar nodded, smiling. "You've done well, I'm proud." In a flash, the exterior of the outside changed, and they were standing by a pond, a very cats behind the old, gray leader. "Dragonheart, with the power given to me by StarClan, I give you Passion, Love, Loyalty, Obedience, Courage, Strength, Intelligence, Speed, and most of all, patience." One by one, the cats behind Stormstar touched Dragonheart's nose. The cats were ones from his past, dead, but still alive in StarClan, always watching out for Dragonheart.

"I know give you your name, Dragonstar. Remember who you are, and what Clan you fight for."
The whole area began to disappear, but not before Stormstar let out a small tear, and touched Dragonstar's nose. The dream was over.

[glow=red,2,300]Lightpaw sighed, looking at the ground. "I...I'd like to see my mom," she whispered.

Snowpelt stirred, snapping to attention. Was it over now? He could barely feel his paws. He shook them out, one by, one, and stretched. He twitched his nose, glancing at Dragonstar and Lilyfeather, waiting for them to wake up.[/glow]

[Northland]

Northpaw's tail swished gently at her friend's response. It surprised her, Lightpaw hadn't said anything about her mother before. Northpaw considered staying silent for a moment, just leaving Light be with her own thoughts..... but...... "I'm sure she's still watching you, even if you can't see her. Moms do that..." she said said, trying to sound comforting and confident. (She didn't think she had done a particuarly good job though.)

Dragonstar woke and streched his frozen limbs, he stood akwardly and turned to look at the others, Lilyfeather was still asleep, but Snowplet looked awake. He sat down on the cold rock floor to wait for Lilyfeather to wake up. Then it hit him, I've been acepted by Starclan, I'm now leader of Riverclan, I saw Stormstar! These three thoughts swirled round his head elating him and making him smile. [/glow]

[Lilyfeather]

"...did you say something?" Lilyfeather mewed drowsily, prying open her eyes in an effort to free herself from her deep sleep. She twitched her tail slightly, still not yet ready to stand. "I congratulate you, Dragonstar. You are now leader of Riverclan. I wish you the best of luck, as a fellow Riverclan cat." She said, nodding politely. The medicine cat chuckled slightly, realizing how old-fashioned she had sounded.
"I'm glad that we got to see Stormstar, and everyone. You can never tire of seeing them, can you?" Lilyfeather purred, silently thanking herself for not forgetting everyone's faces. "Well, should we head off, then?"

[glow=red,2,300]"Yes we should get back to the clan." Dragonstar meowed. He stood up and streched again his ginger pelt dappled by the light now coming into the cave. "Lets get going then," he said as he squeezed his way into the thin, long, dark tunnel to return to the daylight of the world outside and to his clan. As he went he went over all that had happened when he had become leader, Stormstar had looked just as he had known him, with a shinning pelt and wisdom in his blue eyes. [/glow]
