[shadow=blue,left,300]The wind ruffled the beautiful young siamese warrior's fur. His blue eyes flashed red in the direct light, but the huge smile on his face was white and shining. He took a deep breath and looked back into the forest, wondering where his sister, Evermist, was. Last night, the siblings offered to the other warriors of ThunderClan that battle practicing would partake today. Since the huge war that happened long ago, before Severed and Ever came, life was quiet and peaceful. And all of the young warriors were itching to fight. It wasn't because of malice or brutalilty that drove the ThunderClan cats to want to fight, it was just an instinct. Severedclaw was glad to see that the weather was fine today and sent a thanks to StarClan. He sat down and sighed with relief as Evermist came leaping out of the shadows of the birch trees, joy and excitement visible in every strand of fur on her body.[/shadow] [shadow=limegreen,left,300]Evermist purred with euphoria. Oh, how beautiful it was. How the sun dappled the ground! How the trees shivered with excitement! How the birds sang a symphony! Evermist shook her head wildly and bounded like a little kitten again. None of the distant past mattered now that she and Severedclaw were fine and happy and healthy warriors. "Hey, Sev!" she mewed as she skidded into her brother. Evermist laughed as Severedclaw grumbled and shook the leaves and dirt off of him. "Don't be a grump!" Evermist glanced around and felt her mood drop. "I guess we wait." She really hoped that there would be other, senior warriors to come.[/shadow]

The warm Newleaf air warmed the gray tom's pelt. The wind blew the leaves that tickled at his jet-black paws. His round emerald green eyes shone with a new light. His tail flicked back and forth with excitement with every step he took, the leaves crunching under his paws. The sun shone down on the ground, no cloud shattering that image.
Flightfall seemed to walk with an extra skip in his step. The end of Leafbare had marked a new beginning for him. After suffering from blackcough, he believed that it would be his last leafbare ever. But miraculously, with the arrival of Newleaf seemed to be all the young tom needed. Now he was hunting and living life as normally as possible.
He continued to walk until he heard the mews of other cats up ahead. Curious, Flightfall loped over toward them. Getting closer, her recognized Evermist and Severedclaw. Flightfall had become a warrior along with the two cats, and did sort of know them. Wanting to do something other then walk around and hunt for a change, Flightfall appeared in front of them.
"Hey," he meowed, flicking his tail in greeting. "What'cha guys up to?"[/size]

The small calico shaded she-cat limped over the moss and leaf covered ground. Her small paws landed with precision despite the awkwardness of her twisted back leg. The whole experience was behind her though. The monster. The cat in the path. She shook her pale colored head and padded on. Ivypaw was about to turn back to the camp when a familiar scent hit her nose. Flightfall! Her mentor seemed to be holed up in the medicine cat den all leaf-bare. She forgot her hurt leg and damaged chest. ivypaw dragged the useless leg and pulled herself quickly through the brush. The small she-cat was now breathing hard. She too had felt the accefts of leaf-bare. The accident had hurt something with her windpipe or lungs. Her small body heaved with effort and a fit of coughs escaped her.
Ivypaw stopped and let her breath escape in coughs before it was only a few coughs and her breathing was quite regular. The calico femme then hurried on. Her long tail was held up high as she saw her mentor's grey pelt and she couldn't help but let out a squeal of joy like a little kit. Ivypaw limped forward now and she came to the tom. She pushed her small head into his chest fur. The young female couldn't help but greet Flightfall in such a way. She hadn't seen him since last new-leaf it seemed.
"Flightfall! I am so happy you're better."

[shadow=blue,left,300]Severedclaw looked up at the sound of voices and saw Flightfall. He purred at the memory of when they used to train together. This would just be like when they were apprentices. Severed's heart fluttered in his chest as he saw the affection between Flightfall and Ivypaw. The relationship between them was just as strong as his and Evermist's. And he could be sympathetic with Ivypaw, she was just as crippled as he himself was. I could make a good mentor for her...[/shadow][/size]

Flightfall purred at Ivypaw, licking her gently on the ear. He knew the same feeling, for when Ivypaw had been hit by the monster and she finally came back to train, he had thought he wouldn't see her again. Flightfall could tell by his apprentice's heavy breathing that her lungs were still damaged, but if she had managed to run the whole way here, he had a feeling that things were getting better.
"I am too," Flightfall purred humorously. "I thought I'd die crammed up in that stuffy den!' Again he licked his apprentice on the ear.
"How's your leg?" he asked, nodding toward Ivypaw's injured leg.
Looking back toward Severedclaw and Evermist he smiled. He did remember training with them and talking in the apprentice den. Flightfall did feel excited at the prospect of battle training again; it was almost as if he were an apprentice again.[/color]

Ivypaw's eyes slitted closed and took in her mentor's caressing touch. She let out a a purr that rumbled deep from her throat. She swished her tail slowly and grinned with pleasure. Flightfall was almost like a father to her. Ivypaw smiled but her happiness was quickly extinguished like a fire drowned with water.
Ivypaw flicked sad eyes at Flightfall and then looked towards her leg. She would never be able to hunt, live, maybe even be a warrior. The she-cat was already much older than any other apprentice. About 13 moons now. Her calico pelt was whipped back by the wind and she looked back towards her mentor.
"It's fine, my leg is just fine."
Ivypaw's eagerness was all gone now. Her leg would always be something that would be noticed. She was so handicapped and she would never be properly fit for battle. The she-cat sighed before sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws. She sat in silence.

[shadow=limegreen,left,300]Evermist smiled her famous smile and sat down next to Flightfall. She grew hot under her fur and looked at the two. Ever tried her best not to cry as she looked at Ivypaw. The poor thing...She'll be handicapped forever... But a mew from Severedclaw broke her out of her thoughts.[/shadow][/size]
[shadow=blue,left,300]Severedclaw was in his own thoughts while his friends talked, trying his best not to hear. His mind flashed back to when the bear attacked the Tribe of Rushing Water. "Hurry up, Creature!" Evergreen laughed as Severedclaw bounded after her, not yet crippled with his lame leg. "Slowpoke," he hissed as he dashed past her. "Mother! Father!" yowled Severedclaw as he rounded the corner. He screamed as the bear loomed over them, the Healer in its maws. Blood dripped from its claws, dropping on the young cats' heads that stared up in silent horror. The bear roared and tossed the dead cat into the scraggly bushes that lined the cliff face. It dropped down from two legs to four, landing in front of Severedclaw's face. The jaws opened in his face and closed down on his front leg... Severedclaw shook his head and looked at Flightfall, then to Ivypaw. "Flightfall? May I mentor Ivypaw today? And Evermist can practice with you? Because you are an experienced warrior, and she need's training." Severedclaw ingnored the seething glare that Evermist threw at him.[/shadow]

Flightfall noticed Ivypaw's sudden change of mood, and suddenly wished he hadn't brought up her leg. He didn't know how sensitive Ivypaw was about it, and in all the excitement he'd wanted to figure out when they'd be able to start training again. Just as he was about to comment on how Ivypaw could still train, he heard Severedclaw's mew.
Flightfall felt hesitant at first. Would it be better for Ivypaw if she trained with Severedclaw? Maybe it would... but he still didn't want to agree to anything without Ivypaw saying what she felt about it. He nodded toward Severedclaw.
"If Ivypaw wants to, it's ok with me," he replied.[/size]

The calico she-cat's amber eyes cast towards the ground with an ashamed light to them. She looked at her mnangledd leg and sighed. She wasn't going to learn much with Flightfall. He didn't have a ruined limb. Ivypaw looked up at the tom, Severedclaw. She saw his damaged front leg. Well, he would know how to live like this.He is just like me. Ivypaw's thoughts were then broken by the shrill call of a bird near by. She jumped a little at the sudden noise and looked back at the three cats.
I guess that I could train With Severedclaw for today. Her amber eyes glinted a little as she said this. With every word she gained more confidence. He could help her. Severedclaw was an experienced warrior and would know how to live with a useless leg. Her calico pelt fluffed up as she shook it out and padded up to Severedclaw.
What are we going to do then?" She mewed, suddenly shy.

[shadow=blue,left,300]Severedclaw Severedclaw's heart soared with joy. I'm going to be a mentor for a day! He smiled a reassuring smile at Ivypaw. "First, we're going to work on how to use your handicap as a pro, not a con." He flicked Evermist, she looked at him curiously. "Evermist, I want you to scout around and see if we will be having any other guests to our monthly battle-practice. Got it?" She nodded and bounded, her brown pelt blending in with the trees around her. He turned back and beckoned Ivypaw with a twitch of his right, undamaged paw and padded to the edge of the clearing. "Do you want to watch, Flightfall?" Severedclaw called over his shoulder. [/shadow]

How annoying. The she-cat spread out her front-legs, thrashing her plumed tail behind her like a streaming banister. An itch that couldn't be scratched. Burningwing could feel it, directly in the middle of her spine, torturing her, nagging her, and yet, it was just out of reach. Her medium calico fur was spiked with dust as she wriggled out on the ground, pearly white talons ripping out the dirt and clawing up clumps of trampled roots. Pebbles scattered away from her flailing hind-legs. Finally, she reached it. A sigh blotted the air with a cloud of steam from her mouth, the crisp morning air nipping at her ear tips. It was a promising day. Multi-coloured eyes scanned the clearing, one a brilliant blue, the other a smooth amber colour, like bronze. Dew beaded her silky pelt, one of the most luxurious pelts in Thunderclan, the one that had astonished her mate, Demonheart, when they first met.
Burningwing flicked her tail almost dismissively as the loud voices of warriors, and a apprentice, met her alert ears. She snorted her nose, there was Severedclaw, the handsome Siamese tom with the blue eyes that flashed red like a overripe tomato in direct light, Flightfall with his pelt like pebbles on a river bank, the apprentice with the calico splotched fur and leg like a cracked twig, and Evermist, with her sandy-brown pelt and white tail. " Keep it down." She muttered, glaring fretfully across the clearing. " Some cats are trying to rest."

Flightfall felt curious about how the training would go. He nodded at Severedclaw as a response to his question, saying that he would like to watch. He sat down about two tail-lengths away from the two cats, so he would not get in the way of the training. His emerald green eyes were like masks, hiding the slight bit of envy he felt. But then again, it would be good for Ivypaw to learn to use her leg against opponents. That was what took the envy away.
Flightfall's ears pricked at Burningwing's angry mutter. He turned, seeing the blue and amber eyes of the she-cat glaring at them from across the clearing. His ear tips grew hot with embarresment. Flightfall was certain that there were other cats glaring at them as well. He hadn't realized they were being so loud.
"Sorry," Flightfall meowed.
