Shivering, the red animal looked beyond the cold night, the greeen yard was damp from the recent storm that had taken place. The moon rose, crating a beaming light that seemed to be magic. Her brown eye gracefully looked at it, the glowing circle looked as if it blessed every night. Suddenly, a excited voice was heard beond distance. Turning around, the aniamal looked down at an approaching squirrel. He had a handsome glow to him, yet he was smaller then the other
"Mom..." the squirrel approached her willingly.
"Yes, Panther." The mom said, with her big brown eyes, looking own at her son, her son was a rusty colored squirrel, he had the same big brown eyes as his mother. His puffy tail came from his father. Panther had the littlest paws of the bunch.
"Could you tell us a story...? Please?" Panther spoke shyly and peacfully, he was not like any of his other siblings. He was kind, and passionet, who cared ried to care about everyone, not just himself, and ones he loved.
"Ni, Harmony. Not tonight." The mother always pronouces 'no', as 'ni'. Panther, nor any of his brothers nor sisters knew why. And if his father knew, they couldn't get him to tell them, their father was a great secret keeper. The mother looked down at her son, thinking of how peaceful he looked. And yet no one could ever tell what he was thinking, or feeling, because he always looked in harmony. So that's Panther's nickname. Harmony.
"Yes mother. I understand." Panther spoke so adultly, it seemed as if he skipped his childhood, and became an adult right away.
Looking back into the cave, Panther hopped in, with a turn and a nod to his mother. That was his good night. Hopping into the dark cave, his father wasn't home yet, so he lookedd up, into the hollow tree, and then began to climg into the den that him and his siblings shared. "Mother said, no not tonight." Panther nodded.
"Are you sure she said no? Or did she say ni?" another squirrel perked her head up off the ground and a few others chuckled at the mean joke as they sat up.
"Come'on, Moony. Just because you're not mothers favorite doesn't mean you can make mean jokes about her. I mean, she's the one that kept you alive." Another voice took the spotlight as he sat up and looked at the squirell that made the joke.
Moony began to snarl, "My names not Moony it's Terra, Flame!" Terra then curled her lip back over her pure white teeth and calmed down a bit, "Hey does anyone know where Anna is? Or did she fall asleep?" Terra spoke, 'Or did she fall asleep' louder then the rest of her sentence, and waited for the reply she was supposed to get, 'No, I'm right here!' but there was no reply, and after everyone one was quiet, they all heard silent snoring coming from the right hand of the cave. Everyone turned the way of the snoring as Terra turned, but there was no need, for everyone knew it was Anna.
"Oh Moony let her sleep." Came the voice of Panther. He looked quiet, and no one could tell what he was thinking. "She looks so nice. And she looks peacful and-"
Panther was cut off by a snort of Terra, ! "Yeah, like you Harmony, like you twentyfour-seven!" Terra spoke angrily, and then all of the heard little pawprints in the distance, and they all knew exactly who it was. All of the siblings exclamied at once, "Mom!"
Terra dove down in a shadowy spot in the corner, but everyone knew she wasn't sleeping, for there would be terrible snorng that echoed into the whole den. Panther ran over to the window of the cave, and crawled out onto the branch witch he layed down on every night. Flame layed in the place he never stood up in.
"Did I hear little sqaking in here?" The squirell asked questinally. Panther came in the den wonderelly.
"Yes, mother... you have." Panther spoke up, and looked aaround the hollow den waiting for the others to sit up, and they all did. One by one each squirel all opened their eyes, and one by one each stood up sighing aslo came from each direction. "Everyone except Anna."
Terra then growled at Panther, "Okay, Harmony, let's see about that. Head count: Flame
"Here."
She started again as their mother watched interested to see if Panther had been right, "Rawny?"
"I'm here." Another spoke up, giving his tail a shorr flick.
Again, "Storm?"
"Here." A pretty girl sat up tiredily.
"Prisim?!"
"Right beside you." Another girl looked at Terra, and it was true, she was right beside her.
"Anna...?" Terra said losing hope quickily.
And no reply. Terra sighed. She hated addmitting she was wrong, but in this case, there was no escape, she would have to deal with it. Rolling her burning amber eyes, the little sqruille replied annoyingly as the mother gave a laughable twinkle in her eyes, "Okay... you were right."
"Okay everyone, we've all had are fun tonight, it's time to sleep, okay?" The mother laughed easily. She began laiughing even harder when moaning and groaning was heard all over the den, and she knew automatically that it was everyone, but Panther who had curled himself into a small ball on the branch outside the den, Anna who was sprawled out amound the moss that protected her tiny head against the hard ground, and Flame, who seemed to round himself deep in the darkest part of the den, and curled his tail around his body, in a sort of way, a blanket. "Now!" The mothers voice grew serious as the little animals scurried into the comfortable places that they usually sleep in.
It grew dark, and horrible, echoing snoring was heard in about five minutes. Everyone was asleep. Everyone except little Panther.
Did it for fun! Hope you all like it!
