Rain. Rainpaw hated the rain. It was ironic because of her name, but that came because she was born on the night of a huge storm. It seemed to her like Starclan was crying and spreading their grief across all the lands. Sighing she continued her walk. Why is it always me, no one else ever gets into trouble. This morning she led a group of apprentices to prank the warriors while they were just waking up. It didn't end well but she was the only one who was sent out by herself, and told not to come back until she had enough prey for all the elders. Sighing again she picked at a patch of grass beside her. When she did a mouse she hadn't noticed raced off down a hole. Today was just not her day.

{ IF IT DOESN'T KILL YOU } { IT'S SURE TO LEAVE A HORRIBLE SCAR } Sunpelt's golden eyes squinted hard against the rain the drummed on the ground. Leafbare had striped the forest of it's foliage, making the ice cold rain even more unbearable. The dried grass under his feet made crunching sounds as the tom ran across it while his pelt plastered against his muscular composure. Four other cats surrounded the tom; and could easily be described as a patrol. The five cats were patrolling the Riverclan border when the rain had started.
" I hate the rain! " spat a smaller she-cat with calico markings. The female glared up at the sky, as if she could intimidate the sky to stop raining. Sunpelt gave her a sympathetic flick of the tail. Ever since the apprentices played a prank on the warriors none of the warriors were in the best of moods. " Who does? " hissed a tabby tom who was almost as big as Sunpelt himself. " I think rain is beautiful! " the was the Russian Blue named Bluetail. Sunpelt purred as the warriors began fighting amongst themselves; " Why don't you guys head back and I finish the patrol? " Sunpelt purred, licking Bluetail on the ear.
The chilling tears continued to cascade down upon the tom by the time the patrol broke up. Leaving Sunpelt to face the cold weather alone. Sighing the tom finished marking the borders before going back out to look for kill. This leafbare was nice, compared to the last few leafbares Thunderclan had endured. Most the clan was full and only a few of the warriors were loosing weight.
Sunpelt was one of these few. His ribs stuck out slightly and fur was duller then it was in warmer weather. Yet this didn't stop the golden warrior from being the best he could be at everything. Hunting, Fighting, Patrolling- Sunpelt was always the first one to volunteer for all of these things. Some say that it is because Sunpelt is one of the most loyal cats they have every seen- but truthfully it was because his sister's mistake.
Shard, Sunepelt's sister, had left for a blood thirsty group of loners when she was an apprentice. Ever since that time Sunpelt tried to be both the warrior he and his sister dreamed to be. Then after Sunpelt's mother, Blackpelt, died. Sunpelt started to work even harder, as if he wasn't to be half the warrior the black she-cat was.
Sunpelt had caught two mice by the time he came across Rainpaw. The older apprentice had just scared away a mouse and was looking utterly defeated. Even though Sunpelt still felt a thorn of annoyance for her ruining his morning, the golden warrior couldn't help but feel bad for her. " Rainpaw; pay attention " Sunpelt warned, walking closer to the she-cat. Sunpelt purred sympathetically before flicking the cat's ear with his long fox-like tail. " You know, you do deserve this. I think all of you apprentices should have been punished- but either way you did ruin the morning of many cats. "

A sigh escaped her lips once more, it seemed that everyone had lost their sense of humor recently. It was just a little joke. Thinking back to this morning she notice how it could have been taken the wrong way. She had convinced a couple other apprentices to spread cobwebs across the entrance to the warriors den so when they tried to get out they all fell backward. Brownstar had said it was pointless and slowed down the morning, the best time to catch the prey coming out of their nests. He also scolded her for ruining so much cobweb that could have been used in the medicine cat stores. "It's not my fault people don't want to have a laugh." She muttered not meeting Sunpelt's eyes.
"I don't think I will ever be a warrior now." She started walking again, this time slightly more focused and aware that someone was with her. Her mentor had died recently of greencough and Brownstar told her that she would have to wait even longer for one now that she was in trouble. Tasting the scents of the forest she caught the scent of a shrew, quickly she dropped into a crouch and pulled her small gray and white body across the ground. In a swift leap she was on top of her prey and finished it off with a quick nip to the neck. She scraped dirt over it and continued walking. "I don't suppose you want to help me do you?" She asked as sweetly as possible, turning her ivy colored eyes on him.

{ IF IT DOESN'T KILL YOU } { IT'S SURE TO LEAVE A HORRIBLE SCAR } "It's not my fault people don't want to have a laugh."
Sunpelt flicked his tail, slightly annoyed. Why couldn't Rainpaw see that being a warrior wasn't all fun and games? Did the she-cat think that she would laugh her prey to death? When another clan attack; did she think that the warriors would wait to attack until the clan was ready? Sunpelt rolled his golden orbs and twisted his head to give his back a swift lick. " It IS your fault! You were the one who lead the apprentices! Don't you know prey is best caught when they first wake up? They are less alert and more focus on finding food! Leafbare is here, Rainpaw! Prey is scares and Cobwebs have been swept away by the snow and rain! " Sunpelt hissed annoyedly, his tail swishing back and forth.

"I don't think I will ever be a warrior now."
Sunpelt's annoyance died down into sympathy. Sunpelt's own apprenticehood was long and depressing. His sister had left when he was an apprentice. The two had done everything together; along with their other siblings. Spottedfrost, Teardrop, Sharkfang, Snakecoil, and Shard. All of them were the best of friends, and got into all sorts of trouble. Yet as their apprenticeship went on, the close bonds they had formed grew cold and fragile. Loyalty and respect was more important then the childish bond that they had created!
Sunpelt sighed and wrapped his tail around his paws. " You will be a warrior before you know it. For now just enjoy life how it is " Sunpelt meowed. The golden warrior watched as the she-cat stalked her prey. Her pretty light pelt caught Sunpelt eyes just as she jumped on a shrew. Just as Sunpelt caught himself; " Well done! " he purred encouragingly.

"I don't suppose you want to help me do you?"
Forest green eyes turned onto Sunpelt's orange ones; " Of course; that is as long as you don't scare off all the mice in the forest " the large tom teased as he got up. Sunpelt's medium length fur stuck awkwardly around his body as he tasted the air. Silently Sunpelt cured the rain for senting the forest with it's own fragrance. Then, the soft scurrying of a rabbit caught the orange tom's attention. The rabbit was mainly white with a few patches of it's brown Greenleaf fur. It was skinny, but very large. It would be a perfect meal.
Sunpelt snuck up on the rabbit; his paws sliding gently on to the ground. It wasn't often a rabbit trailed from the Windclan territory; and sadly Sunpelt didn't have much practice hunting them. For as soon as he got about a tail away from the meal, the rabbit spotted him and jumped up. Sunpelt hissed under his breath and chased it. The prey, fearful for it's own life, didn't noticed the second cat as it came charging through the undergrowth towards the apprentice.
( ooc= xD I thought that would give you something to reply to. Hehe~ ♥ )

Rainpaw smiled, her task would be much easier when Sunpelt was helping. She smirked as he walked off after the rabbit. She turned and began scenting the air, the faint wisp of mouse passed by her nose. Following it, she kept down low and focused on the scents. The mouse was in her sight now and she paused, preparing for her jump. Just then a loud rustling came from behind her, the rabbit! She abandoned her hunt on the mouse and shot after it. Her white and gray tail streaming behind her, the rabbit was fast but so was she. When she finally caught up she nipped at the hind leg, causing it to fall. When it did she tripped over it sending both bodies tumbling. After what seemed a moon she came to a stop, her nose was inches from the stream but the rabbit lay still beside her.
"Mouse-dung!" Rainpaw spat sitting up. Her pelt was full of twigs and leaves, not to mention all the mud. Her day couldn't get any worse. Sighing she heaved herself up trying to shake the mess off her pelt. This was when she noticed a thin scratch along her flank. It stung, since it like the rest of her was coated in mud and grit. "Well this is just great." She began to lick the wound, trying her best to clean it. Just then did she remember Sunpelt, looking back the way she came she could hear him moving toward her. "Don't worry I'm alright." She muttered bitterly.
