Frynose
Don't be controlled by anger It had been apparent to Frynose for quite some time that his father, Flamefur, was never returning. He was gone with Lilyface, and his mother Lemontail was out of the picture as always. As far as he was concerned, both her parents were dead. His mother through bravery, his father through selfishness.
Frynose had got his stubbornness from his mother. She had always been stubborn and loyal, as was Frynose to those he loved and cared about. His Clan was always ear in his heart; it meant the world to him to have a strong support group backing him up, even if he resented his leader for taking over his father's place as Deputy. To think, my father threw away leadership for Lilyface. As far was Frynose was concerned, he threw away their relationship as well when he left the Clan, not even saying goodbye.
His life had not been so terrible though. He had his dear friends-- his siblings who also agreed in his anger for his father-- but not as much as Frynose. His father was everything to him; he had raised him after his mother's death. He helped train him. They went hunting together, talked about everything.
"Unbelievable," he uttered to StarClan. "Unbelievable what cats can do."

Why was it so dull today? Everything about today was going bad. For the first time in Thymeheart's life, she had an argument with her brother and Goldburn refused to talk to her. Thymeheart wasn't the sort of cat to hold grudges, especially against Goldburn, but he was so difficult! The ginger she-cat's white paws left little prints in the dust behind her. Even the camp seemed a little quieter than usual.
Thymeheart lifted her head to look around. Not many cats were out today, but Frynose was sitting by himself. The orange and white tabby didn't know the older tom very well. Shyly, she decided it wouldn't be so bad to talk to another cat for once. But I'm not much without Goldburn...
Nervously, she padded over to Frynose, dipping her head respectfully. "Hi," she mewed softly. "Good hunting today? I had some luck."

A sleek, orange tabby warrior moved silently through the camp, moss-colored eyes deep in thought. Ripplepaw was gone again.... Icefire sighed. Ripplepaw was so much like her father. The queen flicked her ear, her fire-and-ice pelt shimmering slightly in the moonlight. She glanced up at silverpelt, mossy eyes sad, then blinked up, ears flicking toward Frynose and Thymeheart.
She'd heard both their words, but she was confused by Frynose's; she had no idea what had been running through his head. She padded quietly toward them, waving her tail gently. “Hello,” she mewed quietly, dipping her head. She glanced around again, exasperating, then added “Have you seen Ripplepaw? I can't find her anywhere!”
Icefire flicked her ear, glancing around again. The little gray apprentice was still nowhere to be seen. Ordinarily, she would have turned up by now... The flame-colored queen's tail flicked irritably, and she muttered “Who told her we were battle training?”

Frynose
A wise man is the least prideful The world had always been black and white to Frynose up until recently. RiverClan was his home; being a warrior was his duty. Now everything seemed to be morphed and twisted into something, everything a blur so nothing was clear to the anger stricken warrior. Maybe it was the grief covering his heart that controlled what he saw and did. He knew it was true.
Frynose would never admit it though.
Frynose was always so prideful. Dappleface had never been like that. She was the kind, sweet, loving warrior the Clan loved and adored-- while he was the headstrong cat trying to do anything to make himself a better warrior, a better cat. In his heart he knew he tried his best, but it was never good enough; he spent his life trying to prove to his dad he was just as good as he was--and now, it all seemed to be this dark lie.
Maybe it seemed to be so dark because Frynose mentally tricked himself into thinking the world was caving in on him; maybe it really was. These were the sort of things he seemed to be fighting daily in his soul.
"Hi...Good hunting today? I had some luck."
"I haven't been hunting today," he said with no emotion, not particularly listening to the words uttered from the she-cats mouth standing next to him. His mind was somewhere else, roaming the fields.
"Hello...Have you seen Ripplepaw? I can't find her anywhere!”
Frynose now became more aware of his surroundings. There were now two she-cats around him, both giving him looks, waiting for replies from the confused, dazzled warrior. "I haven't seen her, no." In truth the brown tom hadn't seen anyone this morning, besides his arch enemy Gingertail who had angrily padded out the den, casting him glares from time to time.
Besides that, he had been alone.

”I haven't seen her, no.” The tabby warrior stared at Frynose for a moment with worried, moss-colored eyes. Icefire's eyes bored into his for a moment before she nodded silently, turning away. “Okay. Thanks anyway...”
He looks confused, she thought, eyes soft with instinctive sympathy. She shouldn't feel sympathetic, but she couldn't help it... She started to pad away, but had only taken a few steps before a small gray shape hurtled toward her. Icefire let out a startled mew and leaped to one side. “Ripplepaw!” she scolded. “You scared me out of my fur!”
The little gray tabby blinked her wide, innocent blue eyes. “Sorry Icefire,” she mewed cheerfully. She glanced over her mother's shoulder, and waved her tail at Frynose and Thymeheart. “Hi Frynose, Hi Thymeheart,” she mewed, dipping her head.
She glanced back at Icefire, and her blue eyes rippled, the color melting to a duller, grayer shade. “We're not really battle training, are we?” She asked sullenly. Ripplepaw had always hated battle training—she didn't like hurting people. If Lilyfeather had only chosen her... Ripplepaw sighed, eyes rippling to a lighter, more wistful shade, as she thought of it. She could have learned to heal cats, instead of learning to hurt them.

Thymeheart shifted uncomfortably when Icefire approached. She felt very alone and defensless without Goldburn beside her. She could imagine him now, passing out witty remarks to the queen about her kit and to Frynose about his lack of enthusiasim.
Her ears pricked, catching the sound of the apprentice's paws. Thymeheart's whiskers twitched with amusement. "I never liked battle training either." the ginger warrior confided to Ripplepaw. "I always liked hunting and caring for the elders best."
Thymeheart purred a little, knowing how strange it must sound for a cat to enjoy caring for elders. But Thymeheart loved it, and still did. She did it for the stories she loved. Of Crookedstar, Leopardstar, Firestar and the great medecine cats like Cinderpelt and Leafpool.

Frynose
You can defeat anything you set your mind to "I never liked battle training either.... I always liked hunting and caring for the elders best."" I always loved battle training," said Frynose suddenly, jostling out of his cacoon and returning back to present time, leaving his solemn past behind for a few moments so he could join the ongoing conversation. He had remembered his apprentice days with his mentor, Swiftpelt, and his father. They were good days. He had many friends; quite the popular tom. Gingertail and he were actually friends, being raised together-- how things had changed. " I loved to learn how to move with stealth, run with speed, and listen with intensity." The first thing Frynsoe said to his mentor was, "When's battle training?". Frynose had always felt that to defend his Clan he needed to learn how to fight. it ws true, because while his training was going on, a masive war was taking over. He was there at the gathering where Brownstar was taken over by The Night and Silverstar was as angry as ever. He had been in this Clan for a while, witnessing two leaders. How many cats ca say that...

The ginger-and-white queen listened to the conversation, and her whiskers twitched. “I don't think Ripplepaw likes any of her training,” Icefire mewed, flicking her daughter's ear with her tail. “She's always hiding in the Medicine Den!”
She shook her head wryly, and added quietly “She must have gotten that from Seaheart—I loved all of my training.” Her thoughts drifted back to her training, and she smiled faintly. Her father had been her mentor, and he'd loved his duties as a warrior. It must have rubbed off on her, because she loved every aspect of her apprenticeship—hunting, battle training, and caring for the Elders.
“I have to agree with Thymeheart though,” she added thoughtfully. “Sure, I loved battle training, but it was always a bit odd to be attacking my father—even with sheathed claws. And the stories the Elders tell... they captivated me.”
Icefire's whiskers twitched, and she glanced at her daughter. “What are your thoughts, Ripplepaw?” Her voice turned teasing, and she added “Surely you must have an opinion, since you detest training so much.”
The little gray apprentice's tail flicked as she listened to the warriors conversing. Her eyes rippled to a softer hazy blue, tinted with violet, as her thoughts continued to drift.
”What are your thoughts, Ripplepaw? Surely you must have an opinion, since you detest training so much.”
Ripplepaw's eyes rippled back to their ordinary sky-blue. “I don't detest it,” she said carefully. “I just don't like battle training—why does everyone have to fight all the time?” She sighed, then thought about how to extend her answer.
“Actually,” she mewed softly, half to herself, “I don't really like any of it. I want to be Lilyfeather's apprentice.” Ripplepaw's wide blue eyes widened further, rippling to a shocked, electric blue. Had she said that out loud?

“Actually,” she mewed softly, half to herself, “I don't really like any of it. I want to be Lilyfeather's apprentice.”
Thymeheart blinked in mild surprise. A medecine cat's life would be interesting, she supposed. Mabye even enjoyable, but it wasn't for her. She wouldn't be able to shoulder the responsibility of a medecine cat. She always needed Goldburn to drag her places. Let Goldburn become a great cat someday, but not Thymeheart.
"Well, Ripplepaw. It sounds like a great dream." she dipped her head encouragingly.

"Well, Ripplepaw. It sounds like a great dream."
The little gray apprentice stared at Thymeheart for a moment, then shook her head and mewed quietly "If I was meant to be a Medicine Cat, don't you think I'd be Lilyfeather's apprentice by now?" She shook her head again, and sighed. "It's a great dream, but what good is that?"
She sat, curling her tail around her, and stared at her paws. Her ears burned; she hadn't meant for anyone to know that she wanted to be Lilyfeather's apprentice. Stonepaw knew, of course, but he was her brother - he knew everything about her. He could practically read her thoughts.
She stood up again and blinked at the three warriors, then turned and ran across the camp, slipping into the Apprentices' den. She knew it would be easier to find her here, but maybe she pretended to be asleep... Sighing, Ripplepaw curled into her nest with her head on her paws.
She would have loved to leave camp to think, but as an apprentice, she wasn't allowed out without a warrior, and if she left with a warrior, she'd have to do battle training.... Closing her eyes, she curled her tail over her nose, hiding her face.

Frynose
Keep dreaming-- it can't hurt
"I don't really like any of it. I want to be Lilyfeather's apprentice."
Frynose couldn't imagine being a Medicine Cat apprentice. His love for fighting and hunting overtook anything else--besides his love for his family of course. "A Medicine Cat apprentice, ehh?" he asked, looking at the rather odd apprentice. "You want to collect herbs all day and heal the sick? Not my idea of a good time, but I do suppose it is a calling, so if that it, follow it."
Frynose felt rather wise advising the young apprentice to follow her dreams. Why, the warrior did the same and he was happy. Well that wasn't true-- he was unhappy, but not because of his warrior position-- because of his father and mother's disappearance. he had every right to be upset.
The weather had now cooled down even more than it already was. It was passed moon, but not too late to do some last minute training or hunting. Maybe I should get myself an apprentice, he thought to himself. They're a good bunch of kits, and I could use someone to distract me. I'll have to think about it.

"A Medicine Cat apprentice, ehh? You want to collect herbs all day and heal the sick? Not my idea of a good time, but I do suppose it is a calling, so if that it, follow it."
Not much of a pep talk, in Ripplepaw's mind, but she'd take it. “Thanks,” she called softly, unsure if this was the correct response to the warrior's words. She yawned, really tired now, and settled further into her nest, falling asleep quickly.
The tabby queen watched Ripplepaw for a moment, eyes fixed on the entrance to the Apprentices' den. She turned to blink gratefully at Frynose; it was about time somebody figured Ripplepaw out.
She stood, waving her tail, and mewed “I might as well go hunting... Would anyone like to come with?” She glanced at Frynose and Thymeheart, unsure if either of them would volunteer to come with, or if she even wanted company today.

“I might as well go hunting... Would anyone like to come with?”
Thymeheart shuffled her paws awkwardly. Did she want to go hunting?
"I-I think I might go with...you." the ginger and white warrior mewed. "I'd like to invite Goldburn, if that's okay?"
Thymeheart would go, oddly enough, but of course she would want her brother. She wasn't sure if Goldburn would agree, though. He was still mad about their accidental meeting with Shatterglass and Shatteredmirror. They hadn't spoken since. Flicking her white tipped ear, Thymeheart began to self-conciously groom her chest fur.

The tabby queen nodded, fire-and-ice pelt glinting. “Of course you can invite Goldburn,” she mewed. She wasn't sure she wanted that much company, but she knew Thymeheart would want her brother.
Icefire lifted her orange paw and licked it, wiping it over her face. She washed her face and both front paws as she waited for either Frynose to respond, or Thymeheart to go find Goldburn.

[glow=red,2,300]Doodlepelt padded over from the direction of the Warriors Den, his paws silent over the compacted earth. "Did someone say hunting?" He asked, his eyes glowing, I always love a good hunt He thought brightly. "I'd love to come!" He smiled at the cats gathered there, his bright orange pelt, so like his father's, glowing in the faint sunlight. [/glow]

Frynose
I see skies of blue... Frynose, quite oblivious to the other cats, only stared blankly at them for a few moments, letting his emotions, thoughts, and feelings take over his state of mind. Suddenly Frynose fought, thrusting himself back into the world, looking around at not just three cats, but now four. Hunting? Do I really feel like leaving my cozy, comfortable spot to hunt with a bunch of cats I never talked and who never talk to me? Frynose pondered this question for a moment, then getting up, nodded to Icefire. " I'll come." His voice was reluctant as he spat out the words, but he knew he should hunt all the same for he hadn't gone in a while-- his days had been filled with patrol after patrol with Angelfur, a cat he was not too fond of, but he preferred patrolling with her more than hunting. " Hello, Doodlepelt," he said inanimately, which was rather unfair considering it was not Doodlepelt's fault that his father took over Frynose's father's job as Deputy. But that did not really matter to Frynose for blood was important-- and his hatred for his father was deep, letting in spread just about anywhere. You really need to stop this, Frynose, he told himself angrily. You'll end up with no friends just like your father. Frynose let a smile cover his face, although it appeared fake, it was the most genuine one he had had in a while.

Thymeheart shied away when Doodlepelt appraoched. There were too many cats for comfort, and Frynose's lack of emotion to the other cats was making her nervous. Or mabye it was Frynose's amount of emotion. Anyway, she was uncomfortable and the only thing she wanted to be was not to be.
"I . . . I'm going to go find my brother and catch up with the patrol. See you soon." the ginger tabby dipped her head and flicked her tail in a farewell gesture before turning to disappear through the camp entrance.
ooc:sorry, brain dead. Tell me when you've got a hunting party going!

[glow=red,2,300]Doodlepelt turned to look at Frynose, his orange tabby coat flashing as he turned his head. He saw a depth of sadness and anger in Frynose's eyes and did a half frown before remembering himself and transforming his face back to normal. Doodlepelt was a simple cat, very optimistic and so as he tried to remember why Frynose was angry with him he smiled at Frynose, but the smile didn't quite meet his eyes, which were clouded with confusion, only barely disgused behind his happy exterior. "Hello Frynose." He replied.[/glow]
