We are all prisoners. . . . . . Things couldn't get much worse. make my heart a better place, give me something i can believe // \\ don't tear it down, what's left of me // It was a beautiful day, and life was even more beautiful in her simplistic bliss.
Nature was thriving in her pastoral youth. Young children of all species frolicked about in the new shoots of clover--yet they were all considered the same, for they all had the same innocence and beauty to them, as did Mother Earth. Lovers stayed hidden in the shade, shielded from the prying eyes of unwanted haters. The sky was unblemished--dyed a dainty blue only known as tranquility--and housed not a single smudge of cloud or storm. The trees sighed gently as the wind stroked them with her loving fingers, fleeting and leaving them yearning for more. Everything had its time in Nature; but, sometimes, they left before it was time. The worms and degraded beings slept peacefully in the ground or went about their normal, mundane lives. Everything was in its place; the World had nothing to worry about.
Yet bliss and vivacity can arouse melancholy, tainting the perfection of the Summer day and sobering it. A creature, as ageless and beautiful as the foundation of Earth, prowled the floor of our home with grace and uncontainable serenity. Her eyes were of the deepest gold, tawny and flecked with bits of emotion such as sadness and immortal agony; of course, there was also other shades of colors such as amber and mahogany. Her cranium was domed and perfect, poised on a short and thin neck that was proportionate to her petite form. Her paws, painted white with the purity of innocence and crisp like snow, were hesitant in their movements, yet also sure. The vixen's round-eyed gaze flickered to a new object with every beat of her heart, as if she were afraid of her home. . . Or maybe she was just trying to grow acquainted to this newfound sense of ease that she had recently adopted. Tranquility was a new thing to her, and it was alien and amazing at the same time; she didn't know what to think of it! Could it be that the beauty of the river and her homeland and those that she lived with had chased away the rancors of her past?
The delicate fae shook out her mottled coat, purring in content when the sun's kiss illuminated her golden stripes to gleam like polished brass. She flicked her thin tail lazily, drawing it up high in the air and c o c k i n g the tip of it at an angle as if it were a patriotic flag. The feline purred again, her high voice drawn out in the deep vibration in her throat, and closed her eyes and titled her head up to let the light wash over her. It was such a shame that she was so beautiful, only to have it wasted on wishful thoughts.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] ♥ Honeystripe had always wanted children, always yearned for a mate that she could hide her face in after a nightmare or one that would stand up to her fears for her and meet them head-on. But, knowing how kind and protective she was of the Clan--always acting like the full-grown warriors were her kits--she would never let someone as close to her as a mate or an offspring of hers fall victim to pain. Emotional, spiritual, mentally, or physically. But, to Honeystripe, nothing was more crippling than the mental. It could be linked to any other type of pain, and no matter what happened, something would arouse the dreaded memories.
She was something that many watched as she passed, naive to her own influence on the males around her. Honeystripe was shy, yet slightly coy, and always looked away with a bat of her owl-like eyes while shuffling her prim white paws. What a waste; she was a tempting Untouchable in a world of herbs and spirituality where no one else could experience it with her. With a sigh, Honeystripe crouched by the river, staring at her reflection which stared so tauntingly back at her. The she-cat blinked and thrust her paws into the water, breaking the luminous image. Diamonds on the water splashed about, distorting the image of reality and throwing myriads of light upon the medicine cat's face. " And the water called to me, mute with mutilation. It spoke to me, and I listened with deaf ears. "

" GREAT STARCLAN! ARE YOU APPRENTICES DEAF?! " Badgersoul's thundering voice boomed; sending a few birds flying away in fear. The huge tom was towering over two apprentices; who had been sent to help the medicine cat work. " I told you I DON'T NEED any help! you are only getting in the way!" the tom spat, his yellow tinted teeth flashing in the sunlight. " b-b-but! " one of the apprentices stammered; " you're old! " Badgersoul stopped his ranting to blink a few times. The world old echoed through the tom's mind, haunting him like a bad dream. " O-old? " the tom stammered in confusion. " Y-yea! our mothers said you were the medicine cat when THEY were born! w-w-we just thought, since your getting up their in age, you'd need help fetching things " the giant silenced the apprentices with a hiss, " Return home. NOW! " the two young cats scurried off ,tail beneath their legs. The male watched them go, his amber-green orbs following them like a pair of hawk eyes watching their pray. " Old "
Badgersoul thought about his age for a second, trying to conferm his age. In deep thought; the male's legs begun to take him somewhere while his mind was busy thinking over the apprentices accusations. No, Badgersoul wasn't old actually. Though he had always been big. By the time he was old enough to become medicine cat apprentice he was already the size of most she-cats. Not only that, but his mentor was one of the many cats to go missing before the Great War. So many cats ( mainly from other clans ) thought he was the new medicine cat -even though he was only a kit at the time. So, no Badgersoul wasn't old, this wasn't what troubled him. What troubled him was, one day, he WOULD be old. He had no one to pass down his information to, the art of medicine would be locked away the day he died. Then the next medicine cat would have to reply on the other cats for information, even though the herbs in their territory was much different the in Windclan's grassy plains.
The giant black and white beau let out a long sigh, he was going to have to get an apprentice soon. Seeing that Eclipse had and go run off with a boy. It was a strange thought; having a little apprentices running around. It was almost like having a child. Badgersoul loved the idea of no longer being alone, but at the same time- he would never be able to have a whole den to himself ever again. " maybe I can make him sleep outside " Badgersoul purred to himself. It had been far to long since Eclipse had been his apprentice, and the tom had forgotten how much he missed having little paws trampling behind him where ever he went.
Suddenly Badgersoul realized where he was. Riverclan Territory. Though it wasn't against the warrior code for medicine cats to cross the boarders, the tom still felt uneasy in the strange land. Badgersoul was extremely patriotic about his own clan. Unlike other medicine cats who were kind to all the clans cats; Badgersoul only showed only kindness to other medicine cats from other clans. Just like a warrior, Badgersoul felt like showing kindness to other clan cats was breaking the warrior code. Which the tom stood by with his whole heart and being.
Badgersoul was about to turn back when he noticed a tortoiseshell fae; looking bittersweet and alone. The beau knew this fae as Honeystripe, medicine cat of Windclan. This female was one of the newer medicine cat's who's history was unknown- yet seemingly very complicated. " And the water called to me, mute with mutilation. It spoke to me, and I listened with deaf ears. " The female said in her sing-song voice as a paw reached out to touch the water's glassy surface. Badgersoul's eyes narrowed into oak-green slits. " The water's calls are for those ignorant enough to listen. She begs for us to become one with her, to love her. Yet, no matter how badly water wishes to be loved. All of her lovers will be engulfing in her. Drowning in her being, and in the end- no matter how many lovers she takes the life of. She will be alone " he said back, his deep voice sounding hard against Honeystripe's soft voice.
