Stars Dance off the River{{Open}}

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

The cool breezes of leaffall blew the beautiful autumn leaves across the frost-covered ground. The slightly dead grass was still visible under a small layer of frost, but other then that it looked as if leafbare had begun. A dark night sky overhead completed the picture, with millions of tiny stars across it and a moon in the middle.

The ThunderClan and RiverClan border was quiet. Sunningrocks sat quietly on what was still ThunderClan's territory, and the river that ran beside it was flowing ever so softly. But that wasn't the most beautiful part. Stars seemed to dance off of the watery surface, lighting the area up brilliantly.

The peace was broken as silver eyes peered through the darkness. As if in slow motion, a white cat with silver stripes padded gracefully from the darkness, her silver tail flicking back and forth. The cat- still called a kit- walked toward the border, sitting down so she was still on RiverClan's side of the border. Looking into the river, the small cat felt a great sense of peace. She felt as if nothing would harm her.

Silentkit stretched on paw into the water, touching the cold water before her paw jerked back up. Droplets flew off her paw, then back into the river. The peacefulness, however, would soon be broken...

Earthpaw's feet guided him lightly around bushes, rocks, and other land-masses. His eyes used to be a bright, cunning, beautiful silver-now they were cloudy, sad, lost. he just didn't know what to do.

As a silver striped tabby tom stepped out of the bushes he made out a blurry, small mass. He identified it by the scent-Silentkit. Or was it Silentpaw? She should be an apprentice by now. Earthpaw shook out his pelt and then padded up to her.

"Hey." He said coolly. The young tom wasn't sure it was Silentkit or paw. His eyes were only small remnants of what happens when an apprentice, or any cat, falls from the gorge and survives. Earthpaw looked at the ground hoping Silentkit wouldn't see his eyes.

At the sound of another voice Silentkit jumped, her whole pelt shaking as another cold wind blew by. She looked up, only to see her friend Earthpaw. Relief flooded through her eyes, but her expression changed to concern when she saw Earthpaw's eyes. Usually, he was happy, and his eyes were usually bright. But now... staring into them Silentkit saw only sadness and loss. Unsure of what to do, she pressed against him, as if to ask what was wrong.

Earthpaw felt Siltkit's gaze burning into him. he then realized that she saw his eyes. Earthpaw let out a sigh and then felt her pressing into his side. Earthpaw gently licked Silentkit's ear and than sat down close to her.

He looked up to her, as if seeing her but he of course wasn't. "Silentkit, I fell off the gorge and Firepaw came and it happened so quick and now my paw and my eyes." He lifted his back left leg, it was twisted and contorted into a nasty looking mass. It was no use for walking anymore.

Silentkit's gaze turned to Earthpaw's back leg, her whole heart pounding after what he just told her. Fell off the gorge... Firepaw... Eyes... Those words zoomed by her and she barely heard what happened. But wait, what was wrong with his eyes? Silentkit looked up into Earthpaw's eyes again, and immediately saw how clouded they were. Was Earthpaw blind? Unsure of what to do or how to say what she wanted to say, Silentkit gave Earthpaw a reassuring lick.

Featherpaw tore through the bushes, her paws becoming mangled pices of furred flesh. She rand her paws down to nothing as she climbed over masses of sheer rock, trying to follow the forest scent that was distinctly Earthpaw.
"Earthpaw! Earthpaw! Please!" She mewed, calling out to him. She triped over a stick, and fell on her side. She was too defeatedto even get back up. "Earthpaw?...Earth....?" She mewed, her head flopping down.

Earthpaw was about to tell Silentkit very a important announcement when a scent hit his nose. He couldn't see but the strong smell guided him. The young tabby's dull silver eyes searched for the grey she-cat, a beautiful cat.

Earthpaw pushed through the brambles, the sharp things tearing at his pelt and hitting his face which was rushing through the plants. his fur was tanged in the vegitation now. The tom twisted and tore with his claws at the brambles, as if they were an enemy. he was free and flopped to the ground. His nose felt something soft....Featherpaw!

"featherpaw! wake up! P;lease wake up!" Earthpaw let out sad yowls while shaking the other cat. His silver eyes were still very dull, but what little emotion was left shown concern for the other cat.

Silentkit's eyes widened when Earthpaw tore away. Something was wrong. Quickly the apprentice-aged kit got to her paws and followed behind Earthpaw, her lithe and lean body easilly slipping through the brambles and bushes. Her eyes widened at the sight of Featherpaw and Earthpaw. Featherpaw appeared to be unconscious, making Silentkit look around wildly. Should she go get Lilyfeather? Should she stay? Shaking her head, Silentkit ran over to them.
