The falls at night were not the safest place to be. The stars only provided just a twinkle of golden light, barely managing to cascade down onto the earth. The water, illuminted silver from a sliver of crescent moon light, roared across the silent land. Only a slight wind whistled through the grass, creating a peaceful, relaxing scene. The beautiful image was almost eerie, for no creature stirred. No one could be so mouse-brained as to walk anywhere near the gorge at night. One false move, a yowl would break the silence only for a moment, before the victim, too, would become a part of the monotonous area. Then again, if that was the case, why was Silentpaw out there? Her sleek white coat, silver stripes gliding across her back and sides, completely glowed in the faded moonlight, and her eyes gleamed like twin sapphires in the night.
The fae flicked her plumed tail, gazing at the falls and taking in the roar of the falling water. She was close enough to feel a watery mist begin to cling to her pelt, and she shook herself just enough to make her fur begin to fluff out. The night was cold, after all Leaffall was coming, and Silentpaw wanted to enjoy her last few days of Greenleaf, mainly because she was now an apprentice. Though she was warrior-aged, Silentpaw was only recently apprenticed a few days ago. Though no one said so, she had a feeling that the reason was because she was mute. Still, she couldn't understand how that'd keep her from apprenticeship, but that didn't matter anymore. She was an apprentice now. That was what counted.
Silentpaw sat beside the falls, wrapping her tail over her silver paws. The night was perfect, it was calm. Yet, it also sparked a bit of curiousity in the pretty young femme. What did the water look like, with stars glittering on its surface? Would it look strange to her because it was so far below her? Silentpaw's kittish thoughts caused her to get to her paws and, one step at a time, pad forward and towards the edge. Very cautiously she peeked over the side and stared, open-mouthed, at the beautiful, watery surface. It looked too magical to be a part of the forest, with the reflection of the night sky glittering in its depths. Silentpaw's own bright blue eyes grew wide with awe, and she was snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of a twig snapping. Frightened, Silentpaw whirled around, only to lose her footing and find herself slipping...
Her back paws were dangling, in fact the whole back part of her body as well, over the edge. Suddenly the water wasn't so beautiful anymore. Terrified, Silentpaw dug her front claws into the ground, squirming desperately to pull herself up, but failing. Her ears flattened, and her eyes grew wide with a new emotion. Fear. She couldn't call out to anyone, and even if she could, who would be out walking by the gorge at night? Silentpaw tried again to pull herself up, trying to scrape her back paws against the wall of the gorge. It wouldn't work. With one last attempt, Silentpaw heaved herself forward, only to lose her grip with her front paws, and she found herself falling. Her eyes squinted shut, terror running through her veins. The only time they finally opened was when she felt the cold burst of water erupt around her.

When he saw the cat fall he raced forward his paws beating out a drumbeat on the cold ground. His heart rate picked up as did his speed. He leapt into the water after her and began to swim toward her wincing as the cold water hit the tender scars on his body.
"Hold on," he cried out over the roar of the waves his feet paddling swiftly. He had swum before but never this desperately and the adreniline pounding through his veins pushed him forward faster and faster till he thought he could not go any faster.
He grabbed at the cat's scruff and prayed that he caught it in his teeth. Then he changed his prayer and began to hope that he could actually pull her to safety...

Sunheart grabbed the other cats scruff and growled through fur, "Hold on!" and he pulled with all his might.

Silentpaw Silentpaw gasped for breath, her white head bobbing above the roaring waves. She was choking, drowning, and then she found herself under yet again. Coughs erupted from her as she emerged above the surface, her vision beginning to fade. The tiny she-cat closed her eyes, a feeling of exhaustion taking over her limbs as she struggled to swim. No way was she going to make it. Just as she stopped moving, preparing to just give in, she felt a pair of strong teeth grip her scruff. Silentpaw jerked, surprised by the presence of another cat joining her. Two cries telling her to hold on barely made it to her ears, and neither voice she could recognize over the roar of the waves.
Silentpaw thanked StarClan for her two saviors, and though her legs were numb she tried to help bring all three to shore. Still, she was little to no help at all. After trying to just stay afloat for so long she'd just lost all of her energy. She felt worthless, not even being able to help herself back to shore, and shame burnt the tips of her ears. Warrior-aged or not, she was still acting like an apprentice, drowning in the gorge. Water sputtered out of her mouth as she let out another silent cough. The mute fae couldn't twist her neck around to see the two cats that had saved her, but that didn't matter. She allowed herself to go limp and let the two of them swim her to shore.

He was thankful to the other cat who had pulled him out and as he stood up he winced. His scars felt like they had the day he got them and his eyes were watering from the pain.
"Thank you," he gasped to the other cat, then he looked down at the younger one. She smelt of Riverclan, not a surprise really seeing as that was where he was.
Oh foxdung! He was on Riverclan territory, he was a loner, and no doubt Riverclan warriors would want him off, still his sense of honor held him back and he began to lick the shivering she-cat's fur.
He was almost certain that the pretty young queen would not want a loner looking after her but surely no cat would rather die than accept fate from a hideous beast like him. In between laps he spoke to the other cat.
"Hello, I am Destruction, a loner. I do not care to know your name because no doubt you are a Riverclanner and I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for befriending a loner. If you wish to tell me do so and while you do so help me get her to camp. She's going to need medical attention with a fall like that and no doubt her body is going to go into shock if we don't get her warm," he stopped talking and focused his attention on the project at hand.
Please, he thought to himself, please don't let her die...

Silentpaw Your whispers turn to shouting, the shouting turns to tears... ... your tears turns into laughter, and it takes away our fears She was safe, at least sort of.
The two cats had brought the mute fae to land. Silentpaw lay on the ground, her whole body shaking violently as she tried to regain composure. She shut her icy blue eyes, trying to ruffle her soaked fur but to no avail. A chilll went through the air, causing more violent shudders shooting down her spine. If she could utter a sound, a whimper surely would've escaped her lips. Her white and silver pelt was completely plastered against her already small frame, making her look even smaller then she was before. Silentpaw sneezed, still shaking as she tried to rap her tail across her body. It did no help, for her normally plumed tail was nowhere near dry at all. The little fae squeezed into a tight ball, unsheathing her claws into the dirt at the pain she felt from the cold.
In a matter of moments Silentpaw felt a tongue rasping across her fur. She almost immediately felt a sense of relief, and her claws return to their sheathes. Tasting the air, she could scent both RiverClan and loner. The RiverClan scent was of the warrior, Sunheart, whom she never associated with very much, then again she didn't associate with anyone really. The loner scent was unfamiliar, but she could tell that it was the loner rasping his tongue across her soaked pelt. Silentpaw relaxed, for she was already starting to warm up a bit, and her eyes remained closed as she laid her head on her paws. She was tired, so very tired after her long swim to safety. She didn't care that a loner was helping her, after all he'd saved her life, surely he wasn't a threat.
Silentpaw blinked open her eyes, taking in the sights of the world around her. Her vision was blurred from exhaustion and probably the shock of the fall, but she could just barely make out the shape of Sunheart and the loner. To her, they were just faded outlines, shadows against the fading area around her. Silentpaw closed her eyes again, feeling tired and lightheaded. She needed to get back to camp, where Honeystripe and Tigerpaw could help her. Her eyes opened again and she struggled to stand up, only to wobble on her long legs. Silentpaw cringed as she lost her balance and fell down again. Her legs were given out from just trying to stay above water. She closed her eyes as a shot of pain shot up one of her legs from the fall. Sunheart would surely be able to get her back to camp, but what about the loner, Destruction she'd heard him say his name was? Would Sunheart try to chase him off? Though Silentpaw didn't want him to, she wouldn't be able to stop him. She could barely stand, and she couldn't speak at all.

-if you guys don't want me to post here, I'll delete it-
Catnip by the falls. Catnip by the falls. he repeated again and again and again to himself. Catnip was one of the most important herbs a Clan needed. Survival could depend on it. With leaffall coming, there was the danger of whitecough. And with whitecough, greencough was usually inevitable. It was Tigerpaw's plan this year to make a spot in fame by keeping his entire Clan from even getting greencough. Perhaps he could even keep them from catching its predecessor. His imagination whirled as he saw himself at a Gathering, being held up in front of all the Clans with Dragonstar and Honeystripe telling everyone how he had prevented a single sickness throughout the cold season. Tigerpaw lifted his head and tail and trotted with amused pride nearer to the falls.
Now where is it exactly? he wondered, trying to remember what Honeystripe had said. The white apprentice flicked his tail in annoyance. He should have told a warrior or two to come along and help him. Tigerpaw wasn't much for tracking even though catnip was the easiest herb to find by far because of it's distinct sweet-mint scent. Still, Tigerpaw had some misgivings about how simple his task was going to be.
The roar of water hummed around him. He was nearly there and he began to search for a paw path that would lead down to the water. The catnip would be growing best closer to the water, wouldn't it? As grass turned to gorge, a few flickering shapes came into view. Tigerpaw narrowed his eyes. At his distance, it was hard to focus on the shapes, especially the silver one which was catching the sunlight. Weird. Tigerpaw glanced behind him nervously, hoping to see a warrior who would approach the objects and find out what they were. But, of course, there was no warrior. Only Tigerpaw, medicine apprentice of RiverClan. He sighed.Who does everything around here? Do I do or do I do?
Tigerpaw picked up his speed. The protection of his Clan was more important than his own safety. That's what being a medicine cat was about. But boy, this was definitely supposed to be a warrior's job. Especially now that Tigerpaw could see that the objects were actually cats.He slowed down, not quite stopping, and pricked his ears. At first, he didn't recognize any of them. One of them was colored silver. Silver.
Silentpaw!
Tigerpaw's heart leaped into his throat. His blue eyes bulged. He could feel his claws digging into the ground and his fur prickling up along his spine. He felt paralyzed, but whether it was by fear or just that Silentpaw was here, he wasn't sure. Slientpaw wasn't alone, though. Sunheart was there, and a cat Tigerpaw didn't recognize. And that cat was close to Silentpaw.
Fear flashed into anger. Hissing and snarling, the tabby cat sprinted forward. "Hey!" he yowled. "Don't you dare lay a paw on her! I'll tear you to shreds!" When he was within pouncing distance, the smaller cat jumped onto the loners back, landing a nip on his neck. But Tigerpaw didn't have much warrior training. His nip glanced off so that it only tugged fur and his claws lost their grip on the enemy's shoulders. Tigerpaw slipped off before he had even been attacked back. Growling and hot with embarrassment, the medicine cat rolled over onto his paws and stood shakily up. He kept his body low like he had seen some of the other apprentices doing when they were practicing their training. He hoped desperately that he looked frightening. For Silentpaw's sake.
