The previous day kept Magmakit awake, his eyes wide in the dark and his mind a rushing river. "Father," the kit asked. "what was Mother like?"
"Was she pretty?" mewed Cavernkit.
"Was she blind like me?" mused Dawnkit.
Magmakit blinked in confusion as a tear slipped down Tanshadow's face. "She was the most beautiful creature ever to exist. And yes, Dawnkit, she was blind. She named you Dawnkit because that day when you were born, she saw her last dawn--"
"I thought she was blind?!" Magmakit said too loudly. Cavernkit hissed under his breath and cuffed Magma on the ear. "She was," said their father calmly. "But something miraculous happened. She could see in her last moments. And she named you your names because that is what she saw. Fireice wanted you to live with what she saw. Each of your names carry the love that she saw in your beauty. She was like all of you put together. The only definition for beauty and love."
Now Magmakit was lying in the nursery on his back, staring at the stars through the brambles. He thought he saw an orange star flash through the sky. "Mother?"

Cavernkit woke up to see that Magmakit was laying on his back and looking at the stars. What does he see? Cavernkit was jealous of Magmakit because he seemed to possess unusual powers and could communicate to any animal. One day, Cavernkit followed Magmakit out of the nursery when they weren't supposed to and found Magmakit whistling and sitting in front of a crow. But instead of showing his envy, Cavernkit would just call him crazy and go about his usual business. Right now, he was just curious what Magma was mumbling about. He looked up and pressed closer to his brother to share warmth. "Watcha lookin' at, Magamkit?"
"Mother," he responded.[/shadow][/color][/size][/center]

Dawnkit shivered as her brother moved away from her. She could here their voices. "Whatcha talking about?" She sat up, sniffing the air. Already she was relying heavily on scent and hearing to understand the world around her. She longed to see her father and her sibling, but if her mother had lived without sight, then she could too.

"the poor things; i herd they don't even remember there own mother!"

Fragmentpaw's attention turned towards the two gossiping she-cats. All three of them where suppose to be guarding camp; not gossiping. Usually Fragmentpaw would ignore them, but this topic interested her greatly." Yes- I hear one of them is blind! How will a kit like that ever become a warrior? I don't necessarily feel bad for them though! Maybe it is just Starclan's way of punishing them! "
"Your right!! What ever happens- I certainly don't want a cat like that as my apprentice!!"
Before the black she-cat could respond to the tabby she-cat; Fragmentpaw intervened. "Wait? What now??" Fragmentpaw couldn't help but be interested in these kits. Fragmentpaw would be a warrior soon and she would take an apprentice. Not only this but, you could say Fragmentpaw wasn't that normal either. The two seh-cats laughed at Fragmentpaw's curiousity. This made Fragmentpaw a bit angry ''i'm not a little kit anymore'' she reminded herself.
"The three kits in the nursery; I think there names are Magmakit, Dawnkit, and Cavernkit...they are a strange bunch. Cavernkit has an awful personality, Dawnkit is blind, and Magmakit he must have been bitten by a mad rat or something!!"
Fragmentpaw was once again confused by this whole fiasco but decided to hide it.
Slowly Fragmentpaw got up, her soft tan pelt shinning softly in the moon light; "S-Speaking of witch I am going to go check on the kits" she mumbled as she walked off. Not waiting to hear what the two she-cats had to say about it.

Fragmentpaw's dark green eyes glanced around the nursery as she stuck her head in; "I wander... who are these strange kits?" she said soft enough so she didn't wake anyone up but loud enough for people in the nursery who where awake to hear her.

Magmakit glanced at Dawnkit, his eyes calm and distant. "We are looking at Mother," he mewed quietly. "There is a star up there, shining like a flame but with a icy ting on the outer ring. Father said that Mother's name was Fireice. He said that one eye was like looking at a frozen pond while her paws were fire. I believe that she is up there, watching over us all. Dawnkit? Cavernkit? Do you believe that Mother wanted us?" Magmakit's orange eyes flashed as the star streaked across the sky. Ever since he opened his eyes, he saw that star shine bright every night and disappear with a beautiful performance as dawn crept into the sky. What did Mother see in me? Father said there was something strange about our births that made her name us these names. I've listened to everyone else, they find us as anomalies because we are ThunderClan and kittypet. His thoughts were disturbed as Fragmentpaw stuck her head in the nursery, mumbling to herself about the "strange kits". Magma heaved himself up from his nest and walked up to the apprentice boldly, his tail twitching. He wasn't the kind of kit who lost his temper.[/shadow]

Cavernkit leaned against his sister to keep her warm. His onyx eyes looked up at the night sky to see the star disappear, only to shrug his shoulders and turn a couple of times and lay down in his moss nest. Cavernkit sighed and laid his tail across his nose to keep the warmth from his breath on his face. This night was especially cool, but it was nice and warm in the nursery with Dawnkit and his crazy brother, Magmakit, to keep him company. As Magma rambled on he snorted and turned his head the other way, trying to not listen. The reasons to all of his foul temper was because Magamkit was the first born. Somehow, he was more important to Tanshadow than he was. Dawnkit and Magmakit were the best of the bunch. It's not fair! I'll prove I'm better than him. Talking to birds isn't going to get you anywhere as a warrior! Just then, Fragmentpaw walked in and Cavernkit bristled with hostility. "What does she want?" he hissed to Dawnkit quietly. "She has no right here to tread on our tails like she's our mother." He looked back over his shoulder to see Magmakit talking to her. Hmph! Maybe she'll bite his tongue out. That'll save us a lot of misery hearing him rambling.[/shadow][/center][/color][/size]

Fragmentpaw glared down at the fiery red kit, it wasn't hard to relies that this must be the crazy kit that her two clan mates where talking about. Fragmentpaw's endless orbs of jungle stared down at the kit. "calm down, I am on guard duty; don't be mad at me for just making sure you didn't get eaten by a badger. Of coarse based on what the other clan-cats think. Maybe I should let you get eaten by a badger." She meowed sarcasticly. Fragmentpaw couldn't help but be spunky; that was who she was and would treat every cat with the same spunk they deserved. The dusty brown she-cat was a very slender cat. It was easy to tell her body was for running, small padded paws, long beautiful legs, and a sleek body.
"So I'm guessing your Magmakit" she said softly. Then she relised something, ''magmakit? wasn't that Fireice's kit". Warm memories came back when she thought about the beautiful cat. Fragmentpaw first met Fireice when she was a bloody mess. Fireice had been beautiful even then; Fireice was the first cat to accept Fragmentpaw for who she was. When the gracful she-cat died; Fragmentpaw felt as if she had to take the she-cat's place. Yet Fragmentpaw would never be as lovely and gentle as Fireice. never.

Magmakit ignored Fragmentpaw's remark at Cavernkit. He looked up at the sky to see a hawk circling above the camp. Magmakit could feel the wind in his feathers. See the world as a tiny speck below him. The taste of a mouse in his beak. The updraft carrying him up into the heavens above. Magmakit shook his head, feeling a little lightheaded. What just happened? he thought. His paws shook beneath him and he started swaying. "Ow," he moaned. I became one with the eagle! I left my body! After a second of adjusting to his original body, Magmakit regained stability and sat down. His ear twitched in deep thought.

Cavernkit spat at the she-cat, his fur fluffed up to twice its size. "Act like you got a tick behind your ear will you?" he spat. Cavernkit got up and stalked out of the nursery, ignoring the dazed Magmakit, the protesting Fragmentpaw, and his worrying sister. Forget them all he thought with acid. None of them care one bit. I don't have a family. They don't care about me. As he passed the two guarding she-cats, he heard them snicker and throw jibs at him.
"You don't belong out here in the forest! Kittypet!"
"A stinking cross-breed! ThunderClan," the black she-cat spat with a sneer. "A blind kittypet for a mother and a ThunderClan cat for a father. Pathetic. Hey," she laughed as she prodded her friend in the shoulder. "Why don't you go crying back to your useless siblings?"
Cavernkit shook his head frantically, trying to block the diatribes out of his hearing. With tears running down his face, he ran back into the nursery, silently cursing his mother for bringing him into this cruel world.[/shadow][/color][/size][/center]

Fragmentpaw closed her eyes as the calls of the two she-cats made Fragmentpaw's fur bristle. She never had it as hard as these kits; she was only a loner. just a loner. Fragmentpaw was ignored for most of her life, yet no one dare touched the daughter of Meer. People feared her, they didn't love her nor liked her. She was just kinda there. Then of coarse, slowly she begin earning her honor/

Fragmentpaw's voice was gentle and soft. You could tellshe was trying to make the black kit feel better. Fragmentpaw knew he was going to say some stupid remark from how he acted when she came in. Yet maybe she could make at least a little bit of the pain go away.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed Magmakit's strange reaction when he watched an eagle circled through the sky; but disided not to mention it.[/blockquote][/left][/size][/color]

Cavernkit wailed, the force of his voice making his kitten body shake. Though it was not like his personality, he closed his eyes and leaned against Fragmentpaw, nuzzling deep into her chest fur. He purred, a deep content purr that showed how unstable his sanity was at the moment. Cavernkit's dark gray fur lay flat on his neck, making the black stripes on him dance. Right now he didn't care if the nice she-cat hated this or not. He wouldn't give a mouse tail to care what she thought. Just the warmth of her and the way she treated him like a mother would made him feel secure. Would it be just like this? Would Mother treat me like this? Did she really love me? If she did, then why did I have to get the shallow end of the dream pool? Magmakit is so special. Him and his abilities. And everyone just pities Dawn. He sighed yet again and snuggled against Fragmentpaw until the world was just her scent and her warmth. After a few uncomfortable moments, he closed his eyes and slipped into the dream world.

Dawnkit watched Cavernkit. Her brother always made it so hard. It didn't have to be like that. Of course she knew what the other warriors said, but it didn't matter now. She was still a kit. She sighed.

Tanshadow padded past the she-cats guarding the camp. He heard the word Thunderclan whispered. His ears laid flat. Fireice had always made it easier to bare the remarks. Now he was on his own. Since he couldn't sleep, he had decided to check on his kits. He stepped into the nursery to come nose to nose with Fragmentpaw. "Oh, sorry." He stepped back. Cavernkit was nuzzling Fragmentpaw.

Magmakit stared at his brother with a knowing look in his eyes. He may not know. No one may know. But all of us, the children of Fireice and Tanshadow, are important in the already written story called destiny. A story that StarClan wrote at the beginning of time. They may mock us, they may inflict us with words, but they can't harm our destinies. They can't defeat what our ancestors created what can't be changed. Feel pain for just a few moons longer, my brethren. Just a little longer. And soon it will end. Soon...we will be just as powerful in our own ways than anyone else. Soon... He sighed and padded up to his father, his scent powerful in his nostrils. Magmakit leaned against his father's powerful shoulder, feeling comfort from his parent's touch. I feel it in my fur...Mother will contact me at rest. She has to tell me something. Important.

Fragmentpaw stared at Tanshadow; an ex-thunderclanner. "Who are you?". She knew exactly who he was, he was one of the most hated cats in the clans and Fireice's mate. Yet she couldn't help but some what wanting the kits to be orphaned, so she could take a role in their lives. Fragmentpaw always wanted to be a mother, but because of her bloodlines she wouldn't be aloud to mate. To try to ride of the cursed bloodline that haunted her ever since she joined Shadowclan. It was like her life was cut short, cut to short. Her father used to say that she would be aloud to mate if she showed herself to be loyal, but she had. Numerous amount of times, yet the goal of being equal seemed so far away it made the young she-cat want to end it all.
The light colored she-cat stared back at Tanshadow, her dark jungle orbs a mixture of bitterness and pain. "Oh- it's you" Fragmentpaw relised it would be stupid to pretend to not know who he was; she would sound like a kit and never be a warrior. She only had two moons to go before she would be considered an adult and on that day she was planning on becoming a warrior; "Sorry it was so dark out, I could barely see it was you" she lies through bared teeth.

Flailpaw walked towards where he heard voices, his curiosity sparked. What was going on? He ducked his head slightly, somewhat stalking over towards where the others were. His ears flicked with interest, and he decided to keep his mouth shut. He'd rather listen then be heard. His eyes averted to a she-cat, and immediatly he felt his heart pick up rhythym. Of course, this happened everytime he saw a she-cat. What could he say? He was a sucker for pretty she-cats. [ =] ]

Cavernkit was in deep sleep, unaware of what Magmakit was silently promising him in his thoughts, what was going on in Fragmentpaw's head, what Flailpaw was doing. He didn't know that if his father permitted Fragmentpaw to orphan and train them when she became a warrior that Dawnkit, Magmakit, and himself would become the grandchildren of the dreaded Meer. That they would be in danger of being taken and trained to be the most feircest creatures in the forest. That what Magmakit knew was what would happen.

Magmakit's breathing slowed, his heart merging in tempo with his respiration. He could feel the emotions and the heartbeats of everyone around him, the thoughts that were like a feeling instead of a thought. He knew he could feel what was going on around him. He could feel their thoughts, not hear them. He felt Flailpaw's presence and mewed, "Come out of your hiding, Flailpaw."[/center][/size][/shadow][/color]

Tanshadow nuzzled Magmakit. He stared at Fragmentpaw for a moment. Her behavior was a little strange, but then it was dark outside. He heard his son prompting Flailpaw and scented the air. Yes, Flailpaw was near by. He glanced at his other kits. Cavnerkit was asleep. Good. Dawnkit padded over to him and pressed her small body against his leg. He licked the top of her head. Was he doing the right thing? Was he giving the kits everything he could? He wanted to be there all the time, but his warrior duties kept him away.

A teardrop is insignificant in a pool of water, but it can touch the soul as it runs down someone’s face

Fragmentpaw blinked in confusion; "Flailpaw?'; she sniffed the air; " it is Flailpaw! but how did Magmakit know he was there. I couldn't even sense him?" Fragmentpaw turned toward where the sent of Flailpaw was coming from. Suddenly a weird anger boiled in her stomach. Why didn't he just come up insted of sneaking around? If he had something to say to any one of them he should just come up and tell them. Yet the rage quickly melted away at the sight of Tanshadow and the kits. She missed her own father and mother; she missed all of them. She didn't care if her mother was consiterd cold-hearted, she didn't care if her father was dead, she didn't care that her siblings where no where to be found. She just wanted to snuggle up by them like they used to do when they where younger.
Just feel the warm breath of her mother as she cleaned at her fur, and the warm pelts of her siblings. She missed running and exploring the Loner's territory. completely oblivious that some of the lands she played on and learned to hunt on where really that clan cat's territory. She missed thinking the whole world was a place of adventure; she missed everything about her childhood. Yet there was no turning back now; her family was split up; into a million shards. She could never be happy like she once did.
"You are are lucky to have such fine kits" meowed Fragmentpaw softly to Tanshadow, "so very, very lucky"

Magmakit licked his father's shoulder in absolute fondness. Though they were so close, they were so far. He and his siblings weren't destined for a quiet life. Eventually, they would have to venture off and fufill the prophecy that said they were to leave and discover the secrets of the past. They were to become...dreaded. They had to leave when they became warriors.
His thoughts ventured over to Fragmentpaw when Cavernkit gave a huge sigh against her warm chest. Magma could feel the dreams that were flitting through his brother's mind like pictures. Fast but slow in the mind's eye. Fragmentpaw, why do you care so much? Why do you feel that you are to be our mother? I got an answer to that. It's because you are being pulled to your part in this prophetic tale. Let me lend a paw.
"Father? I have to ask you a favor." mewed Magmakit, ignoring the lingering prescence of Flailpaw who was obviously listening. "May Fragmentpaw train us and watch over us? I think Mother would care to have us in Fragmentpaw's care. You could still watch us as any Father would, but we would be better off in her watching over us."

Cavernkit was in the world of dreams, lost in a prophetic state he never would experience again. Though he thought he was just seeing a beautiful she-cat, he knew that she was his mother. The kittypet, the dead queen...Fireice.
Her name meant everything about her appearance. Her paws were literally aflame. Though Father said that her eyes turned into thunderclouds when she turned blind, her eyes were now the colors of the forest and of the everlasting sky. "Mother?"
"Hello, son."
She padded up to him, her paws not making a sound on the rocky shoreline. Her body seemed to glimmer with a sparkle that emitted from the inner of her body, not from above or from outside. "I must talk to you, my son. Cavernkit, I need you to deliver a message to your siblings..."[/shadow][/center]

Tanshadow nodded. "I know, Fragmentpaw." He glanced down at Magmakit as he asked his request. For a moment, he was taken back. Had he done something wrong? But Magmakit was right. They would be better off. "I-if Fragmentpaw is all right with that." He glanced at her. Maybe it would be for the best.

"Thank you, Father." he breathed in Tanshadow's ear. "We appreciate that with all of our souls." Magmakit pushed his muzzle against his father's side for a silent moment and nodded at Fragmentpaw. "We will be lucky to have you protect us, Fragmentpaw. Goodbye." He prodded Dawnkit in the shoulder and silently laid his tail across her narrow shoulders, a secret sign of their's for her to follow. "Come on, Dawnkit. I have to tell you something," he quietly whispered in her ear. "It's time I tell you something."[/shadow]

Tanshadow smiled down at his kit. Goodbye? It sounded final. But he knew he was doing the right thing. Fragmentpaw was a good she-cat.

Danwkit felt the tail across her shoulders and heard her brother's voice. She stood up to follow. "What is it?" she whispered.

Magmakit smiled back at his father with a distant look in his eye. Oh, how final this really was. To never get to know his father really well. Magmakit and his siblings didn't even know anything about Tanshadow's past. "Not here. Let's wake up Cavernkit and get out of here to the marsh bog." The marsh bog was a place where the young kits, almost three moons, would hang out on hot and calm days.

Fragmentpaw was quite confused "W-Wait a second! I am not old enough to be a mother- or adopt kits... I-I mean I still have my whole life in front of me and- i wouldn't know how to take care of them" Fragmentpaw did want the kits; more then life itself. She wanted a family, her brother had already had a family and his kits where almost adults now. Then again; he did have them at a young age- but that didn't matter. If he was aloud to have kits shouldn't Fragmentpaw? Fragmentpaw let out a sigh; it felt like her heart and her brain where having a all-out war. "Tanshadow; I promise to take care of them... b-but don't you want to raise them. They are the only thing left of Fireice..." whisper Fragmentpaw softly as she stared down at Cavernkit and licked his ear. "it is true I do want kits; but there is a reason why I don't.. CAN'T; have kits. What will happen once the others find out you gave me your kits? Fireice wasn't a very liked cat for who she was; and I am not a very liked cat who whole me mother was. If I raise her kits that may put them in allot of danger and once Meer finds out about them... who knows what will happen..."

Mouse dung, Fragmentpaw! You just had to voice your worries? Great. Magmakit's mouth turned only a fraction of an inch down at the corners. Scratch that, fox dung! He flicked his tail on Dawnkit's nose, a signal for her to wait for a minute, and butted his head softly into Fragmentpaw's shoulder. "Please?" he mewed pitifully. "Please, Fragment? You don't know how desperately we need a mother. Fireice--" he sniffed, hoping to touch her heart with this upset facade. "wants you to guide us and protect us. Just think about it...okay?" his voice wavered at the end and Magmakit inwardly smiled at how good he was at acting. "Dawnkit and myself are going to take Cavernkit out for some fresh air around the camp. We'll be back by sunset." He looked up at the sky. The sun was about nine in the sky. "See you in a couple of hours, Father," he mewed as he sharply jabbed his paw in Cavernkit's side.[/shadow][/center][/color][/size]

"Mother, what is it?"
Fireice grimaced and pressed her warm face against her son's small body. He felt so small compared to this StarClan spirit and warrior. Cavernkit could barely believe that this beautiful she-cat was his mother.
"I can't believe that I finally get to speak to my kin, my child," wept Fireice. Cavernkit could feel tears running down his shoulder, already soaked from her previous tears.
"Mother, what do I have to pass on to Magmakit and Dawnkit?"
Fireice sighed and looked into her son's onyx eyes. "A darkness more terrifying than night is coming. It is---"
"Wake up, Cavernkit. Stop sleeping the day away!"
Cavernkit woke up to see Magmakit standing over him. Tanshadow stood a little distance off with Dawnkit. But who was he sleeping against? So nice and comfortable...?
"Oh, StarClan! Fragmentpaw, I'm so sorry for--" For what, stupid? For thinking she was Mother and acting like a helpless bird crying for its parent?! You dreamt about Mother because you mistakend Fragmentpaw for Fireice. Mouse-brained fool. "For--" Cavernkit knew that everybody in the nursery was staring at him in the nursery right now and he grew hot under his coal gray pelt. "Let's go," he hissed ferociously at his brother and sister. "Before I claw your ears off."[/shadow]

Dawnkit smiled, nodding at her brother. "All right," she whispered.

Tanshadow glanced from Fragmentpaw to his kits. They wanted her. They needed a mother. It was the right thing to do. "Fragmentpaw, I know you'd be very careful. And it's not like I'm leaving. I'll be around to protect them as well."

Fragmentpaw stared down at Magmakit; what could she say but "OK"she promised before turning towards Tanshadow. She couldn't help but feel guilty about taking his kits away, no matter what he said deep down ha had to be at least a little sad. Right? Fragmentpaw let out a long sigh; "Out of all the she-cats in Shadowclan why me" Fragmentpaw thought aloud.

Magmakit rolled his eyes at his brother as he stalked out of the nursery, his tail twitching and heat searing his paws like a poker.
"OK."
Yes! It worked. I knew you would pull through for us, Fragmentpaw. I knew it... Thank you. He gave a gasp of joy and licked the side of his caretaker's muzzle, feeling a rush of warmth from her body. "Thank you so much Fragmentpaw! Thank you! Thank you!" he mewed breathlessly as he ran out of the nursery, his lava pelt shivering in the wind. It felt good to be running free. The feel of your muscles working with tendons, sinew, and bone to create a natural high that made you feel like you could run over the horizen. It was freedom. And Magmakit knew it wasn't because he was cooped up in the den, it was because he was almost free of a life as a Clan cat. "Come on, Dawnkit! Cavernkit! Let us go celebrate and share some good news!" And off the young kit went...The fire that lives on.[/shadow]

Cavernkit could feel the blood boiling under his skin, as hot as the sun above. It wasn't fair. Why did everyone have to fall for his brother's trickery anyway? No one really knew how manipulative he was. Unnatural. And if Magmakit really wanted to get closer with Cavernkit, then why make the chasm between them even larger? He was a complete fool.
He swore as a sharp rock embedded itself in his black paw. "Mouse-dung," he hissed as he hurriedly gripped it with his long fangs and pulled. A jolt of pain made him wince and bite his tongue, trying to hold back the stream of violent words that were threatening to come out. He put his paw back on the marshy ground and limped a few ways when his brother and sister came streaming out of the nursery, joy thick in the air. Cavernkit looked down to see no blood on ground. "What the--" He lifted his paw to see no wound. No pain. No trace of a sharp object.
And it was then he knew that he and his siblings were not regular kits.[/shadow]
