.telling me to go.
.but hands beg me to stay.
.your lips say that you love.
.your eyes say that you hate.
.theres truth in your lies.

A flash of a fiery orange was visible among the scraggly bushes and then was gone. It sped beneath the undergrowth and then was seen standing utop a weathered boulder. It was a powerful tom, with thin but muscular shoulders and an amazing pelt. His long, thin tail flagged out behind him and waved ever so slightly in the brisk wind. He narrowed his luminous orange eyes against the chill and twitched his long, white whiskers. Under the fading light, his fur glowed like a bonfire and was gentle and incredulous to look at. Fear and awe resided in him, and he embraced it with the total balance of nature.
He was Magma.
His Clan and his family knew him to be Magmakit. But that had all changed when he met Scorpion. She belonged to no one, for she was the character of Mother Nature. All beauty and evil was contained in her, also, and was equally as embraced as Magma. He felt complete only with her, not even the power that raced in his blood made him feel whole. He, along with Dawnkit and Cavernpaw, were destined to control all. Now will that happen? Magma believed so, but his fate might end all too quickly.
He closed his eyes and listened to the earth. And how can he listen to the earth, you ask? Well, the vibrations in the earth from the ground-dwellers sing their own song. Like the tiniest movement of a low, melancholic note. The sun beats like the drum while the birds are the woodwind. The trees quake much like the symphony of the bass and the wind itself is the harmony. That is how Magma listened to the earth, and one, individual note and mind reached out to him. He stretched his conscious until it felt like it was going to snap. Finally, he reached the invading mind and realized it was another cat. Someone else was here with him.
With a flick of his tail, the sleek tom turned his head very slowly in the direction he tasted the other mind. He could tell he hadn't spoken to this one before, because minds he had already sensed were more well-known to him than the earth song. But the new mind was neither male nor female to him, dead or alive. It was there.
And he didn't know whom it was.
This sense of not knowing was like kryptonite to him.
This sense of not knowing was like kryptonite to him.
.theres truth in your lies.
.doubt in your faith.
.all ive gots what you didnt take.
.so i, i wont be the one.
