Sibling Rivalry

Ariona yawned, sunlight beating down on her back. She stood up and shook herself, enjoying the warm morning air. Though she was still small, Ari had actually grown some overtime. Still, all four of her siblings were bigger and stronger then her. But so far, Ari didn't mind.

As she looked around, she realized that everyone still seemed to be asleep. She grinned. Maybe, just maybe, she could explore a little. Making sure no one saw her, she quickly stalked away.


Ok, this was a bad idea... Ari thought to herself. As she looked around, she realized with a sick feeling that she was lost. Ari whimpered once, her pelt started to bristle with uncertainty. Her heart started pounding, and Ariona looked behind her a split second after a twig snapped. She tensed.

"Who's there?" She growled, trying to sound menacing. The only sound that came out, however, was a frightened squeak.

Kodiak's heart pulsed in his ear. Ari was all alone, and he was at the perfect spot to tackle her. His claws flexed and dug into the ground. His muscles tightened and his eyes bluged out of their sockets. He was so ready to beat her up. It'd been some while since he'd been able to pin her down because of her parents, but right now everyone was back at the den sleeping while he was silently stalking his petite sister.

"Ari... Here I come!" He barely whispered, charging out of the hawthorn bush he'd been taking refuge in, and flinging himself at her turned back.

Ari cried out as she felt something land on top of her. She was pinned onto her stomach, and she quickly twisted her head in all directions to get a glimpse of who was on her. It didn't take long, however, before she recognized the scent. Kodiak.

"Kodi!" She hissed, trying to get out of his grip, "GET OFF!"

[Meerful]

Kodiak growled, and dug his claws into her soft flesh, feeling a bit of blood bubble up. He smiled in satisfaction, and the fur across his shoulders raised in victory and dominance. His tail stood up straight like a red flag. Leaning down, he whispered,

"Give me a reason to get off, and maybe, just maybe I will." His voice was icy cold and matter of factly.

Ari cried out in pain as Kodi dug his claws into her shoulders. She winced and glared up at him.

"'Cause I'll tell Momma and Daddy if ya' don't!" Ariona spat, flailing her paws and trying to hit Kodiak off her. She let out another threatening hiss, though she naturally didn't have a threatening voice. Ariona growled, continuing to flail her paws.

"Now get off!" She spat.

[Meerful]

Kodiak smirked, and let his full weight drop down on her. At first he was only trying to pin her, now he wanted to squish the breath out of her until she surrendered. He used his tiny kitten back claws to scratch at her, and dug his teeth into the back of her neck. Growling, he let go and waited for her to say something.

"Mommy and Daddy are asleep and will get mad if you wake them up. Plus if you tell I'll tag you everytime you're alone and beat you until you wished you'd been born a clanner!" Kodiak replied icily. Then he dug his claws in tighter and bit the backof her throat again, letting out a loud and terrifyign growl.

"Stop it!" Ariona whimpered, feeling his claws scratch across her back and his teeth dig into her neck. He was choking her by biting her neck, and her breath was coming out in quick rasps.

"You're choking me..." She hissed angrilly, though her voice came out quiet. His claws digging into her made her back burn. Ari started shaking, from anger and fear at the same time.

"Stop..." she whimpered pleadingly, trying to scratch at Kodi again. Though she knew it wouldn't do any good.

Kodiak growled triumphantly, and gave her another quick and sharp warning nip. His claws felt permanantly latched onto her soft fur, and he continued to score his hind claws down her back.

"I wont stop until you promise not to tell." He hissed in her ear, biting it when he finished speaking. Then he unhooked one of his front paws and lashed out at the top of her forehead.

"You're such a weak cat Ari! You'll never amount ot anything but a soft pampered kittypet!" He hissed at her.

"I promise I won't tell," Ari muttered. As soon as she said that she felt his claws score across her face. Ariona hissed in fury, but didn't move. If she stayed still, maybe it wouldn't hurt as much. Hearing his next words, Ariona winced as if he had struck her.

"You're such a weak cat Ari! You'll never amount ot anything but a soft pampered kittypet!"

"I'm not a kittypet..." Ariona hissed, though you could easilly hear the sadness in her voice.

Kodiak's face twisted into a sickly grin and clutched her with his back claws, and pinned her in one spot. With his front paws, he kept them in her back, but turned his paws and felt them scratch at her back and blood began to fall as the wounds became deeper.

"But you are Ari. You're weak. You're worthless. You're the worst cat Bloodlust has ever had. Even Meer refuses to talk to you. She hates you. So do mommy and daddy. They wish you'd never been born. On the days when they leave us with someone else for a while, I sneak away and I hear them talking about ways to get rid of you." Kodiak lied.

Ariona felt pain sear through her as Kodiak scratched at her yet again. She could feel the warm, sticky blood dripping down her back and sides. Ariona felt tears stinging her eyes, and she let out a weak hiss.

"But you are Ari. You're weak. You're worthless. You're the worst cat Bloodlust has ever had. Even Meer refuses to talk to you. She hates you. So do mommy and daddy. They wish you'd never been born. On the days when they leave us with someone else for a while, I sneak away and I hear them talking about ways to get rid of you."

Ariona's tears fell from her eyes, and she let out a soft sob. Did they all really feel that way? Did they all really... hate her? Tears started to drip onto the grass, mixing with the red blood that fell from her wounds. She tried to hiss, but not a sound would come out. She simply laid her head on her paws, and let the tears flow.

Kodiak hopped off of her, and grinned crookedly. He had made her cry! Today was going perfect for him. He couldn't wait to go tell Granite what he'd done.

"Well, I think I'll leave you here, little kittypet. Oh, and I should stop by a lake. I don't want your blood tainting my fur much longer. Imagine what the others would say!" He said, rubbing her worthlessness in her face.

Ariona ignored him, keeping her head on her paws. Her eyes stared ahead. She was just gonna ignore him now. He made her feel worthless... Maybe... maybe she was worthless... No! She wasn't worthless! Ariona sniffled once, one more tear slipping down her cheek. But she simply brushed it away with her tail.

Ignore him... she kept telling herself. But how could she?

Kodiak smirked. She was so entirely gullible.

"Ari you're so stupid sometimes." He growled at her. Then he came up with another idea, a sick and mean one.

"You know. It's not that bad. They don't want to give you away, they just want you dead. They're tired of their reputations being ruined by you. You're so much smalelr than everyone and so much dumber. See? All they want to do is kill you so that you don't have to be such a miserable poor excuse of a cat anymore. Is that so hard to live with?" He mewed in soothing tone. His eyes gleamed with amusement.

Ignore him, ignore him... no matter how hard she tried not to, Ariona let out another soft sob. She tried to look away from Kodiak, wishing that he'd just leave her alone. She hated him. He was always like this, and she was sick of it.

"I hate you Kodiak..." She muttered, keeping her gaze away from him. She knew she probably didn't hurt him in the least. But it was all Ariona could think of saying.

Kodiak frowned. He walked over to her and pressed his fur to her side.
"Now why would you hate me? Here I am toughening you up and preparing you for the real world like a real older brother should, and yet all you do is cry and tell me you hate me. That's not very mature Ariona. Now get up. Let's go hunting." Kodiak rolled his eyes at his overdramtic sister.

The fatally tan she-cat crounched in the deep shadow, veiwing the event that was taking place. Shifting onto her hind legs, scorpion rose and flexed her poison tipped tail, susppressing a large yawn as she emerged from the bushes into veiw of the other young cats. Kodiak, she noted, was her kind of cat, not backing down weakly like his petite sister. He was a strong fighter, not merciful and sly. Scorpion arched her legs to take full, elegant steps toward them, a grin on her face as she spotted Ariona, covered in blood and tears, and Kodiak, almost spotless of his own blood. " Hello, Kodiak." She mewed smoothly, her bloody scarlet eyes burning in the sunlight. She hardly noticed Ariona. " What are you to doing out here alone?" Her eyes were hard and cold, but she flicked her tail, directing the thretening speech to Ariona.

Ari shot him a slightly shocked look. He was actually being NICE to her?! Well, sort of nice. Pretty nice. Whatever. But still, she was shocked. At first, Ariona wasn't sure how to react. Was this a trick? Was he just gonna attack her again? At first she wasn't sure. Deciding she may as well take the risk, Ariona got to her paws. She looked over at Kodiak wearily, as if she expected him at attack again. So far, he didn't do anything.

When Scorpion appeared, Ari cringed. She didn't really like the cat, and apparently Scorpion didn't like her either. She just ignored Ariona like she wasn't even there. Sighing, Ari turned away from the two. Whatever. She'd be fine on her own.

Kodiak watched Ari turn to leave, and quickly strode over to block her path.
"You stay." He growled firmly. He wasn't about to watch his sister be dominated by a she-cat.

"What do you want?" He snapped at Scorpion. He wasn't sure if she was trying to flirt with him or trying to scare him, but either way he was uneffected... And slightly warmed at the thought of the pretty she cat flirting with him, but he got rid of that thought and continued to growl.

Ari didn't really want to stay. She'd rather go down to the lake and maybe clean off her wounds, then go back and rest. She definitely didn't wanna stay here. But hearing Kodi's stern voice, she simply nodded. There wasn't much else to do anyways, was there? Yawning, Ariona sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws.

Scorpion raised her eyebrows slightly, giving a curious look. She was beginning to have some fun around the territory, finally...." Why does it matter what I want?" She meowed lightly, giving her frosty wheaten coloured chest fur a few preening licks. She gave Kodiak a light gaze through her glinting eyes. She heard a break in his growl for a moment, so at least she was getting some where. Ariona was sitting off to the side, looking edgy. Scorpion knew she wouldn't be wanting to hang around after the incident that had just happened.

Wrapping her long tail around her front paws, she let out a slightly strained purr. Kodiak was surely a strong cat, in both physical and mental ways. She might have a tough time getting him to stop spitting his tongue out....

[Meerful]

Kodiak stiffened and glared at her. She was about to be in a big surprise if she thought she could manipulate him. no matter how gorgeous a she cat was, he would fight them and he would win. No matter what...

"Why doesn't it?" He retorted. Then he lifted his tail in the air like a war sign. "And maybe you better watch what you say around me, because I don't care if you're a she-cat or if you're Skull's daughter. I'll fight you. And anyways, I'm bigger and older than you. So choke on that." He growled. He looked over at Ari and mentally told her to stay.

Ari understood that Kodiak wanted to stay, so she decided to get comfortable. She laid down and watched, staying quiet. At first, she wanted to stand up and side with Kodi on this. But as usual, she wasn't sure what to see. Ariona could never fight, verbally nor physically. If she was needed, she'd step in. But for now she just laid there, waiting for this all to end.

Scorpion struggled to keep from laughing out loud. She could tell he thought she was trying to control him. A smirk crossed her face and her lava eyes darkened like a rain storm. They could be a good match, Kodiak was a good fighter, though he seemed pretty full of himself. Scorpion kept back the urge to pull back her lips and let him get a good look at her double rows of teeth, but if she did that, no doubt he would ever talk to her again without a attempt to tackle her. So she only raked her claws momentarily across the soft moss covered of the ground and stretched out her shoulder blades, reaching out and pulling the mos towards her.

" You are underestimating me because I'm a she-cat." She growled, voice turning dry." I highly doubt you would live long if you dared try and attacked me, so why dont you cool your fur and stop boasting like a fine feathered quail?" Her voice turned softer at the end and she sat tall, licking the specks of moss spore off her claws, which sparkled like pearl tarnish in the harsh sun ray, wafting down out of the sky.

[Meerful]

Kodiak grinned sickly. She thought she could beat him, didn't she? He almost laughed at the irony. His teeth with thick and broad and pointed just like a bears, so much like a bears, that they were beginning to stick out of his mouth. In the spike of the moment, he almost reached over and attacked her, but he glanced at his sister. Her needs came first since the she cat might attack Ari.

"Oh, you'd think I'd stop boasting? Psh. You're in for a surprise Kitty. I am the finest feathered thing you're going to fin around here, so if I were you I'd keep my claws where tey belong. I don't thin kyou understand anyways, I would live longer than you if I attacked you. You would be crowfood when I was done. Oh, but you still don't understand do you? I wouldn't think so. My father is Niche. His mother is Meer. She is my grandmother, and my mentor. I am her top priority. Besides, we all know what a sucker Skull is for her." Kodiak glared at her, and dared her to speak. "Oh and let's not forget, Scorpion, I already know about you're poison tip tail, but did you know about Meer? She's part Meerkat because she's Sand cat and that mean that she's immune to venom. So I guess it's just tooth and claw isn't it?" He growled.


//Teehee. Meer is so much fun to manipulate. *Meer attacks* AHH! But um yeah, I looked that up and meerkat really ARE immuneto venom, and so are sand cats. Amazing huh? I guess it's because tey live in the Kalahari and live off scorpions and stuff.//

Scorpion flicked her tail, ignoring his taunts and boasts. She wouldn't get any where shouting insults back and forth until it broke out with a claw through the nose. Delicatly stepping upto Kodiak, she let out a small mew, not suggestive, just, a mew. " I didn't come here to argue with you Kodiak," She admidded innocently. " Actually, I wanted to ask if you wanted to come with me over to the clans to spy a little, since I know your not cowardly like most of the other bunch over near the willow." She waved her ears suggestivly at the horizon, where the sun beaded down on a over-hanging ancient willow which sheltered a large granite boulder. Scorpion lifted her paw to draw the few traces of blood that had gathered on the ground.

Kodiak snorted.
"Why would I want to go there with you? I have a life. I'm busy trying to perpare my younger sister for the dangers of the world, while showing her how to ignore the small annoyances like you." He growled. Aside from that, he really did like the she cat, and he really would have liked to go with her, but his pride and male testosterone made him stand up to the she- cat and deny her. "So scamper back to you daddy like a good kitty and leave us alone."
