The Garden of Shards

Meer scrambled under a fence, and over a rock, getting large cuts across her stomach. She was here, she could feel it. Meer never felt so utterly happy inher life, in fact, the bubbliness of it seemed to boil over the rim, and rain down everywhere. Shard! Her mind screamed as she raced towards a beautifully blossoming garden.

"Shard!" She yowled as she got closer. A few mores strides, another hop, another sharp pain, and Meer foudn herself in front of her almost sister. "Shard, I missed you!" She cried, tears spilling out of her good eye, and her voice cracking with emotion. Meer had flown passed Skull, but she didn't care. She was willing to die for this moment.

//Niche is older than 6 moons, he's like... 11, almost an adult, but still more of an apprentice//

Midnight took a step back from her loner friends,The name shard was said twice in a row.She had almost forgoten her old name, Shard,Midnight didn't know what to say.Shoud she be mad or sad?,"Meer, Skull...It is a pleasure to see you" she said- quite shocked at the fact that they still called her by her old name.

Meer stepped back. Shard was different. She didn't look happy to see them at all. Meer felt her heart break again. As if she didn't have enough problems. Now, she seemed to have huge chunks ripped from her chest when the oens she loved went their own ways. Splinter with Emberheart, Niche with his friends, Fragment with her father, Turtle missing, and now Shard with her twolegs. Meer felt her breath come out in a whoosh, and she almost collasped. Instead, she turned cold, and stared back at her old friend unforgivingly.

"Sorry to bother you, I guess I'll be on my way." She almost hissed. Tears threatened, but Meer knew that if she cared too much, Auseek would try to make Meer kill Shard,and Meer would kill herself if that happened. //Auseek is like some split opersonailty conscience disorder Meer has. //

"Meer wait, I am happy to see you...Tails was taken away from me not to long ago..." Midnight yelled after her friend as she ran over to her and brushed her pelt agent's her,"Please Meer, I am sorry...I am just different in more ways then one- but I still care about you!"

[glow=white,2,300]Skull looked abit taken back. This welcoming did not impress him. The sympathy he had felt was now bubbling in anger and he felt his claws flex, splintering the fence post slightly under his large paws. His eye patches looked like dark pits that flamed with a blue fire, the ice melted away by the rage and annoyance. Meer was here also but he hardly noticed. Had Shard forgotten her name? Surely the twolegs would have enough sense to tell that Shard should not have her name changed....but they were to dumb to understand cats..

Skull gave a sour look at the neat rectangle kittypet garden then flicked the end of his tail. "See you later then...." he growled over his shoulder. " Don't forget your fighting moves..." with that, he pushed himself back through the thick undergrowth.[/glow]

Meer stepped away. "No. No. No." She whispered, shaking her head. A voice was getting ready to tell her things, Meer knew it. "I am different too." The traitor tears slid down her dirty fur, and onto her red paws. Blood. She was bleeding, as usual. Meer turned to face the cat she loved more than anything in the world, and then let her guard down.

"Shard, or whatever your name is nowadays, we can't e friends anymore. We live in two different worlds that are just too different." Meer didn't want to say those words, but if she didn't, it would only make it hurt worse when Meer was alone. You'll always be alone, no one wants you. Not even your precious Shard A voice in Meer's head sneered. Meer began to cry like a waterfall. "Shard, I love you" She whispered. Then Mer turned back, and wakled to Skull. Even if she couldn't stay with Shard, she couldd stay with Skull. Meer would savor every moment she could, etch the memory of Shard's beautiful pelt, sensitive personality, everything about her, into her mind.

Midnight felt tears flood into her eyes, this is why she became a kittypet.She had almost forgotten how much of an outsider from the other loners she was, there cold words seemed to sting Midnight's heart,"Skull-Meer...Why dose this happen to me..." she whisperd.She quickly ran back into her two-legged's nest, tears falling from her face.No she must not cry, that was weakness in Skulls eyes....but she didn't care.

Meer whispered one last hing, hopign Shard would hear it.

"The only theme that resonates throughout the numerous popular theories of life, is love. Love, in all it's fragile forms, is the one powerful force that brings real meaning to our everyday lives. Shard, I'll love you forever, sis" Meer knew that a broken heart was worse then even death, and Meer had no heart left, only small fragments. Turning away, she left, awaiting the presence of death.

Skull twitched his ears as he heard the soft steps cushioned by the leafy undergrowth that Meer had caused. He watched carefully as she walked over and saw his own feelings reflected in her eyes. They both felt betrayed by Shard. Both had deep feeling for her and she had ripped the apart by leaving to the life as a pampered kittypet. Loners had the hardest lives in the forest, not in a clan and not pampered by twolegs...sometimes it was tough.

Skull's vision blurred slightly and he hissed at himself, hating these emotions that were new to him. They disappointed him...making him fall apart. Gently, he reached down and touched Meer's ear.[/glow]

Meer turned to Skull, all signs of hope, love, emotion of any kind but misery, were gone, erased. leaning her head on him, she felt her bdy convulse with shudders of sorrow, not caring if he pushed her away. Then she looked at him. Even he was upset by this... this betrayal. Why had she one this to them? They hadn't done anything to hurt her, they both helped her as much as possible, but she left them.

"S-Skull?" Meer said, shaken up by her emotions and the empty feeling in he chest. "W-will she come back?" Meer whispered, no hope in her voice, bbecause she already knew the answer. Again, Meer spasmed, and more tears came out of her eye. Moe than anytihng, Meer wanted to die, because this was the worst pain she'd ever felt.
