I'm falling even more...
... in love with you
Sakura
Soft white paws padded across the muddy ground. The sticky substance clung mercilessly to her paws, causing the fae to glare irritably down at them. Though behind those irritated eyes were a smile. It pulled relentlessly at her lips, until she finally just let it out. Oh, she couldn't help it. Earlier that day brought upon too much joy to her. With Niche back, and surely for good, Sakura's heart was ready to explode from her chest. The past moons without him had been horrid. And it wasn't long after his capture that her kits started to leave her, moving on with their lives. She'd been alone, and all she wanted was for Niche to return.
Now she had her wish. But something was... missing. Despite the fact that she was overjoyed to see her mate again, something was different. The feelings, they were still there. In a way. A strange feeling of awkwardness had hung, and still did hang, in between the two cats. Sakura didn't like that, but for now all she could do was push it away. It had to just be because they hadn't seen each other in so long. The feelings would return. Still... after all the two of them had been through, this just didn't seem right. Sakura remembered the way Niche flinched from her touch, and she suddenly felt a stab of pain, recoiling as if it were happening at that moment.
Sakura stopped for a moment, tasting the air and picking up the scent of marigold. Niche would need it on his paws. The tortoiseshell femme wandered away from her mate and over to the golden herb, picking up a clump in her jaws and waiting for Niche to join her. She didn't say anything for a moment, and instead just let her mind wander. What if there was a reason Niche had been gone for so long? Maybe... they were supposed to drift apart. Sakura gasped, shaking her head so rapidly that it started to hurt. She didn't care how mouse-brained she looked, she had to get those thoughts out of her head. Sakura stopped, glancing sheepishly over at Niche, her ears flat against her head.
"Er, sorry," she mewed. "Oh, I found marigold! It should, uhm, help your paws..
She hated herself at that moment. This was Niche! He wasn't some stranger! And yet, he was. So many moons had gone by... and so much can change in just a day. Still, Sakura was determined to fix things, to bring things back to normal. She loved Niche too much not to.
