[glow=limegreen,5,000]♥[/glow] ( TIME TOGETHER ISN'T EVER QUITE ENOUGH ) ( WHEN YOU AND I ARE ALONE, I'VE NEVER FELT SO AT HOME ) A pair of pale yellow eyes seeked for an object of knowledge, an object of discovery. Hand-like paws grasped at the air, their blunt claws tips clicking against each other with fleeting energy. The flashing eyes grew dim momentarily as the creatures bent their heads to examine the book sitting at their feet. The smaller of the two looked back up at his brother, his eyebrow markings raised in question. The elder nodded eagerly, his lips pursed in concentration. They both as one grabbed at the cover and turned it, dust motes flying up in a mushroom cloud and contorting their vision momentarily.
Stifled gasps of awe and wonder filled the quiet night air as they hunkered over the textbook, their luminous eyes illuminating the ancient text that had long been forgotten by cat kind. The one with the ink written in script composed of simple lines on his back--or 4 as he was simply known by his brother, 3--meowed in delight and pointed at an illustration with a shaking paw. 3 smiled and did the same, his eyes dancing across the page.
4 sat back on his haunches, an unsheathed paw scratching at his narrow chin absentmindedly. 3 looked at his sibling, his eyes flashing What is it?
The smaller gray tabby shook his head, confused, as he traced the illustration with a brown and silver paw. 3 frowned as he looked at it again, his brother leaning closer. The twins studied the latin text closely, this eyes flashing, unremitting, as their curiosity grew. The picture showed an old scientist standing with what seemed to be a rag doll, a thin machine placed between them. Using an instrument that was attached to the scientist's face, the three openings that acted as doorways to his eyes and mouth revealed a bright green light that was being passed to the rag doll. What does it mean, 3? The tom by that name shook his head, the thick blue hood pulled up around his ears flapping with a quiet noise. I don't know. Let's put this somewhere safe where it won't be affected by the cold and leave. This place frightens me. At this, 4 glanced around, his wide eyes growing ever wider as he examined the shadows that lay waiting outside their pool of light they were huddled in. He nodded very vigorously as he helped his brother carry the book over to a broken down shelf that acted as an alcove. Grunting with effort, they pushed the heavy book to the furthest corners; away from the cruel elements that tended to destroy such precious materials. After a moment of gathering their materials, the brothers dashed out of the run-down household, their movements quick and terrified as they stayed by each other. Ever since they left their friends, all of the nightmares of their past had haunted them, following with ominous steps in their dreams. It was always during the cold nights that they most strongly remembered the Seamstress; the way she lured her victims close and then killed them with dripping fangs. At these thoughts, 4 shivered very violently and pressed closer to 3, his eyes glittering with unshed tears. " I miss them all. . ., " he whispered. 3 nodded and pressed closer, taking comfort from the warmth emanating from his brother's thin body. " I miss them, too. But the past is behind us; no more sorrow. " 4 looked up at the brother he had only adored and doted and smiled half-heartedly, his eyes downcast, though. The sound of claws scraping against wood made the toms stop in their tracks and stiffen, their eyes flicking around and looking for the culprit to the sound. Illuminated by the moonlight filtering down through the leafy canopy, snow glittering ominously all around them. . . They were in plain sight where the enemy could see them. 4 clung to his brother's shoulder with trembling paws, his eyes turned to him and flashing out messages in a panicked hurry. Is it the Seamstress?! Has she returned for us? 3 hissed quietly as he stroked his brother soothingly, his own paws slightly shaking with surpressed fear. She's dead, remember? 9 killed her, along with the other Beasts. Though his words were calm and reassuring, his thoughts were directed to what lay in the darkness. . . Waiting for them. There are no monsters here. There are always monsters, 4 replied emotionlessly.[/blockquote][/blockquote] tag; ...anybody??? &&the queen.Slipping gracefully through the ferns, Rain wreathed the whole area with her scent, marking that this was her territory. Of course, even if someone were here, they would have to listen her now wouldn't they? She was, in her own eyes, a queen. Queen of this area right now, but soon, Queen of BloodClan. She had no time for low-life strays; no, she would only rule cats who admired, respected, and listened to her. And there she would stay, as the all mighty empress of her own kingdom.
Stepping around a rabbit hole, she opened her mouth to see if anyone else was around. Yes, two cats in fact. Not far off either. She would see what they were doing on her territory, without her permission. Keeping her head and tail held high, the silver she-cat pushed through a large bracken clump and began to track the two unknown cats. Her oddly colored eyes flicked from side to side as the twilight breeze ruffled her ears. Blinking, she suddenly heard a soft voice. Her head snapped towards the direction it had come from. Another cat? No, it was one of the two she had scented earlier.
Quickening her pace to a brisk trot, she narrowed her eyes as the voices continued to speak. It must mean the two cats hadn't detected her. Perfect, she would sneak up on them, interrogate them, and if they weren't worthy of working under her, she would kill them. Yes, an excellent plan of action. Lost in her own thoughts, Rain forgot that debris still resided on the ground. She had spotted the twig, but, too late, before she could stop herself, her paw came crashing down upon it and it broke with a loud snap. She grunted in frustration.
The she-cat burst through the bushes and confronted the two cats, driven by anger at herself for being so stupid. Glaring at them condescendingly, she announced her arrival with a growl. "Who are you, and what are you doing on my territory?" .rain&&

[glow=limegreen,5,000]♥[/glow] { GRAFFITI DECORATIONS UNDER A SKY OF DUST } { A CONSTANT WAVE OF TENSION ON TOP OF BROKEN TRUST } 3 and 4 clung to each other, their ears swiveling to catch the quietest of noises. Their large, raven-black pupils were dilated to two small rings of black that almost disappeared in the pale yellow depths. 4's breathing became more ragged as his large eyes swept across the clearing, wishing he and his older brother never left their home. Though it had been a horrible and barren place, it was not as unexpecting as this unique forest.
Yes, their previous home had been dead and desolate. But it was their home. It was a place they could call their own. Nobody else was there to claim it. A dead and broken city inherited to the nine beings who fought to survive. In the twins' eyes, all they could see was beauty in their home. Though there were graffiti decorations under a sky of dust and bodies lay strewn in the cobblestone streets, a treasure trove of knowledge lay waiting under every ruin.
But they were always forced to run away. It had always been "Gotta run away, gotta run away." Who is forced to flee from their own sanctuary? Nobody should; that was what 9 had taught them.
3 & 4
A tan figure sat looking out over the rooftops, the setting sun setting his pelt to a dusky fire. He looked up with distant eyes as a white fae with a large scar on her back drew closer, 3 and 4 following on her heels. " 9? What are we to do? " the fae asked, her raspy voice quiet and soft. The silver twins studied her with flickering eyes for a moment before bringing their attention back to 9. It seemed to them that 7 looked up to him as their leader; this meant that they, too, respected him as one. Forever it had been them and 7 against 1's manipulative grasp. And now 9 was against him, meaning that he was one of them.
" I don't know, 7, " he whispered sadly as he directed his gaze away from her and to the sunset, his fur bristling. 7 sighed as if she expected another answer and brushed her muzzle against his shoulder, a sad glimmer in her eyes. After smiling sadly at 3 and 4, she turned away and jumped down, the tip of her tail disappearing with a small twitch.
The twins jumped slightly as 9 looked back at them, his gaze hard and determined. " Have you found out anything about the Source? "
As one, the twins shook their heads and shrugged in puzzlement, their ears flat against their heads. It would be upsetting to have 9 disappointed; after all, 3 and 4 had worked tirelessly only to come up with no results. They had turned to their vast store of books only to find that it may be too vast, leaving them with plenty of books to still explore. The twins flinched as one as 9 dragged his blunt claws across the metal roof, its metallic screams rising in protest. " Why was I so foolish? I am the reason 2 died. "
The silver tabbies stared with hooded eyes, their thin lips pulled down in sad frowns. They might have comforted 9 with a few simple gestures or some soothing words. . . But they would have been lies. It was his fault that the others had died. There was no point in lying in a world full of lies.
With a silent sigh, they turned and walked away.
4 & 3
" Who are you, and what are you doing on my territory?
" The small toms screamed as they whirled around to see their attacker, large eyes flickering in fear. 4 whimpered quietly as he cowered behind his brother, his hand-like paws gripping his 3's shoulder while he peered around with frightened yellow eyes. They were so wide in terror that the silver rings around the irises were even more visible. 3 hissed as he arched his back, his short tail fluffed out twice its normal size. 4, on the other hand, preferred to stay hidden by his more trustworthy brother. If anyone could get them out of this mess, 3 could. Or 9, 4 thought sadly, his paws trembling as he got a closer look at the she-cat. He always seemed to get us out of any situation. . . Even if he was at fault. After all, he killed all of the beasts single-handedly. . . And 7 was a warrior. . . Why did we leave? Oh why!3 bared his teeth, all of his attention directed to the strange fae that was questioning them. Her eyes were the strangest hue while her pelt was a silver similar to their own. He was about to reply when he felt 4 tugging on his short fur. Whipping his head around, he glared at his brother, eyes questioning. What?! His frustration grew to fury as 4 flashed messages in their code, his eyes illuminating using their reflective quality. What would 9 and 7 do? This she-cat wants to kill us, 3!! I just know it! You remember those house cats that told us about the 'Clans?' She's one of them; or something worse! 4 flinched slightly as his sibling snarled at him quietly, his blue hood falling a back a little bit to reveal that his ears were pressed back against his round skull. Calm down and be quiet! Let me take care of this! I'll get us out of this predicament, okay? I'm not going to let anything happen to you. 3's eyes mollified as he quickly licked his brother's forehead and looked back at the unknown fae, his eyes returning back to their hard expression. " I am 3. . . And this is my brother, 4. We didn't know this was your territory and we will leave without a fight if you let us. "[/blockquote][/blockquote] tag; crystal!! &&the queen." I am 3. . . And this is my brother, 4. We didn't know this was your territory and we will leave without a fight if you let us. "
The voice of 3 floated in the air, and Rain's expression just hardened at his response. She took a step forward, her head held high and her eyes announcing her challenge. She flicked her tail at them, telling them they didn't need to be scared. For now at least. Restless, she started to circle them, not taking her eyes of the hooded brothers. She had many questions, but she waited a bit before she asked them. She had to intimidate them first didn't she?
She circled a couple more times and then spoke. "Where are you from? Are you kittypets, scrounging for food from filthy Twolegs?" She spat the last word, her whole statement filled with scorn and disdain. Maybe they would be worthy of serving under her. It was possible that they would be useful to 'the queen' and maybe they would be a start to a powerful clan under her command. Hmm. . . it was a good idea to the she-cat.
But she had to see if these two were wild cats, and not som disgusting kittypets. They didn't look like it, but you never know, right? She continued to stalk around them, her gave condescending and her mouth twisted in a scowl. .rain&&

[glow=limegreen,5,000]♥[/glow] { GRAFFITI DECORATIONS UNDER A SKY OF DUST } { A CONSTANT WAVE OF TENSION ON TOP OF BROKEN TRUST } The red lights that flickered in the distance reminded the twins of the fireflies they used to see before everything died. But these dapples of light weren't peaceful and tranquil. . . They were ominous and held a dark warning:
You're not safe here.
The sound of bullets in the distance made the silver tabby toms flinch, their brown paws covering the others eyes. With a small twitch of their whiskers and a lash of their tails, they turned around to see 6 at work, muttering incoherently. With small, unsure steps the brothers crepped over until they could look over his shoulder.
With quick strokes of his toes, 6 was drawing an elaborate circle on the paper, three line going from the edges to meet at the middle, odd symbols in each section. 4 peered curiously over his brother's shoulder and stepped out from behind him, leaning forward on his skinny limbs to bring his face right up next to 6's black and white tabby visage. With a few flickers of his large eyes, he traced the symbols very lightly, making sure not to smear the ink.
" The SOURCE!! " screamed 6, flailing his arms wildly as 4 meowed in surprise and cowered behind 3. The twins watched with wide eyes as 6 gathered up his papers in his jaws with another mumble and shuffled off, his tail dragging in the dust behind him. 4 grimaced and glanced at his older brother, anger flashing in his eyes. He's fallen off of the rocker, I tell you.
3 meowed in amusement and butted his brother in the shoulder lightly, his silver and yellow eyes twinkling merrily. " It's good to see you guys up to your mischief again. " The twins turned around with large smiles on their faces as 5 walked up to them, his friendly face beaming. 3 and 4 ran up to him and rubbed against him, purring quietly and grooming the dust off of him. The one-eyed tom laughed and butted them lightly, his odd laughter relieving them of the claustrophobic sensation they got whenever stuck within the "sanctuary." But soon, though, they would have to leave. It was obvious that they weren't going to be happy here forever. 1's power was starting to slip; it was about time.
And besides, something new was on the horizon.[/blockquote][/blockquote] 4 & 3 " Where are you from? Are you kittypets, scrounging for food from filthy Twolegs? "
4 hissed quietly as the silver fae circled them, her eyes studying them with disdain. The smaller tom didn't enjoy the way his skin crawled whenever she looked at them or when a fang was bared in a scowl. Right when they first met her he had suspected something. . . Off about her. Maybe it was the fact that she reminded him of 1 or 8 with the way she held an air that seemed to scream that she was the ruler of everything that dared to breathe the same oxygen as her. Whatever it was, he didn't like her. But he was going to let 3 do all of the talking. His littermate had always been the one to mollify people with his crafty tongue. Sincere and sweet. Those kind of words could cut like a knife and heal laceration at the same time.
" We are from a place far away from here, " whispered 3, his dry voice cracking. It was so subtle and brittle that it sounded like rustling leaves in the dead of fall. So silent that you would have to strain your ears at the quietest time of the day to pick up the slightest of sound. " And. . . No. We are not kittypets? We fend for ourselves and depend on no one. " 3 broke off and glanced at his brother, confusing swirling in the yellow depths. Kittypets? Twolegs? What are those?
4 snorted in exasperation and shrugged his shoulders, a slight frown on his thin lips. How should I know? Just say whatever you have to to keep her from ripping our throats out, okay?[/blockquote][/blockquote] tag; crystal!! &&the queen." We are from a place far away from here. And. . . No. We are not kittypets? We fend for ourselves and depend on no one. "
Rain's ears met the dry voice of 3 once again as she still circled them. So they weren't kittypets. They would make a nice addition to her dusty shelf of minions. She smiled slyly to herself and stopped walking, leaving in close to 3. Her voice was a fierce whisper when she spoke. "And where is this 'far away place', 3? Care to tell me?"
Her smile turned into a smirk as she met eyes with the tom. Her bi-colored orbs stared deep into his yellow ones as she waited, daring him to answer.
