Brightstar leapt onto the Highrock and yowled a summon to all Thunderclan cats.
She had spoken to Salem and had found him worthy to become a member of Thunderclan. She had decided to make him an apprentice, and Sandclaw had agreed to be his mentor.
When all of the Thunderclan cats were staring questioningly up at her she started the ceremony.
"Sandclaw has asked me to let a kittypet join Thunderclan, and I have agreed. He is worthy to be part of the clan, and will start as an apprentice.
From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Patchpaw.
Sandclaw will be his mentor."

Sandclaw had been training Patchpaw for two moons. Training had been slow for the first few days but he learned quickly after that.
"Brightstar I'd like to speak to you about Patchpaw's training." she said, at the entrance of Brightstar's den.
"You may enter" Brightstar replied.
After she entered Brightstar's den Sandclaw dipped her head in respect towards her leader. "I have been training Patchpaw for two moons and I think he's ready to become a Warrior."

Brightstar nodded in agreement. "I will hold the ceremony at nightfall."

"Thank you." Sandclaw purred."I would now like to retire from being Deputy to have kits." she said softly, staring at the ground. Two moons ago she had told Brightstar about her love for Salem. And about how she would give up being Deputy to have kits.

Brightstar nodded with acceptance. If that was what Sandclaw wanted she would let her have it.
"I will also hold that ceremony at nightfall. Brownpelt will be the new Deputy of Thunderclan."
Brightstar let out a sigh after Sandclaw had thanked her and left her den. She wondered what her clan would think of this change.
Brightstar stepped out of her den, looked around briefly until she saw Brownpelt outside the Warriors den. "Brownpelt I need to speak to you." she called out to her.

Brownpelt walked over to Brightstar. 'Yes, Brightstar." she said. She couldn't wait to serve her clan. She would do anything to make Brightstar proud.

"Sandclaw is going to retire from being Deputy to have kits. Will you be the new Deputy of Thunderclan?" Brightstar asked.

Brightstar leapt onto the Highrock and summoned her clan to gather around. Once all of the Thunderclan cats were gathered around the Highrock she started the cerimony.
"Sandclaw has informed me that Patchpaw is ready to receive his warrior name. His name from this day forth will be Patchpelt." As she said this she looked up at the starry sky, hoping that Starclan would accept this new warrior.
Brightstar then told Thunderclan about Sandclaw's love for Patchpelt, and about how she wanted to have kits instead of being Deputy. "So from now on Sandclaw will be a warrior again, and Brownpelt will be Thunderclan's new Deputy." Brightstar nodded to Brownpelt. Brownpelt then stood next to the Highrock, so all the cats could see their clan's new Deputy.

Brownpelt felt proud. She knew she would serve her clan well. She went up and touched noses with Brightstar.
