Snowpelt followed Dragonheart into the medicine cat's den, looking around. He had never been there before, and he was quietly respectful of the place.
Outside, Lightkit heard the cats coming in. Jumping up, she realized that she had slept longer then intended. She looked around frantically for Splashheart and Northkit, then ran to Snowpelt as she saw him disappear into Lilyfeather's den. She skidded to a stop beside him, meowing, " Where're Northkit and Splashheart? I just woke up and they were gone!"
" Don't worry; they'll be back soon. I'll explain later." Snowpelt whispered, licking the kit to calm her.

Elkpaw trotted up to the den as if nothing had happened. He was intent on looking big and tough, a warrior who didn't need hel. He yawned showing off is sharp teeth. Then he sat down and began to groom a scratch on his shoulder. His brown tabby pelt was slightly matted with blood. As he gently washed, he looked around to see if he could spot Streampaw.

Northkit looked around and quickly spoted Lightkit. She hurried over to her friend and sat down. "Sorry," she mewed to Lightkit, "I meant to be back before you woke up." Then she realized how akward it must seem, a kit sitting with a band of warriors outside the meddecine cat's den, looking a bit worse-for-wear.

One look at the scratches told Lightkit the story. " You fought, didn't you?" She whispereed, looking from Snowpelt to Northkit, a scared look in her eyes. " You guys could've been killed!"
" Lightkit, please!" Snowpelt tried to lick her again, but the kit drew away from him. " We're warriors!"
" Elkpaw isn't, Northkit isn't!" Lightkit argued. " I may be overreacting, but don't I have a good reason?"

"Hey, I might still be a kit but I can still take care of myself!" Northkit's tone wasn't angry, or even annoyed, she just sounded tired of every one thinking just because she was a kit she couldn't fight. In the lands of foreversnow everyone had to learn how to fight at an early age or you didn't live very long, even if that wasn't the way it was here. "By the way Snowpelt, I never did get a chance to thank you for helping me, so, uh, thanks."

Lightkit sighed. " I know you can, Northernlights." She whispered, rubbing her cheek on Northkit's side. " I was just worried, s'all."
Snowpelt smiled. " You're welcome, Northkit." I'll stay out of this, this is Light's thing.

If you could see a cat blush Northkit would have been beat-red. She was worried about me? That's why? My brother's the only one who ever, ever...... Then she realized if Lightkit had been in the same situation she would have been worried too. "Lightbreeze...... I'm so glad we're friends." she purred, I'de almost forgotten what it's like.

Elkpaw had been listening in on the conversation. "Ya know, it's about time Northkit was an apprentice. No use trying to keep kits like her in the nursery!" he smiled at her. He had grown a respect for her during the fight. Who couldn't have? She faught just as well as the rest of them!

Lightkit purred softly. " It's ok. You're still here; that's all that matters."
Snowpelt nodded. " Yes, both should. Lightkit is old enough and Northkit is already a good fighter." He smiled widely at Elkpaw. " And you should be a warrior. You are more then ready. I can't wait to see you in the warriors den with us soon."

Elkpaw smiled back. Very few cats could find their way to the soft spot in his heart. "I can't wait either." he glanced back at the kits and purred. "I wonder if young warriors can have an apprentice early? It'd be loads of fun training Northkit!"

"I don't want to be an apprentice unless Lightbreeze is one to!!" Blurted out Northkit. Even if the dens wern't that far appart now that she had a friend, she couldn't bere the idea of being even a den apart. "But, I probably won't even be made an apprentice anyway. I didn't do very much except fetch help...."

Elkpaw hissed stubbornly. Then his ears pricked. "I wonder when Bloodclaw's kits will be apprenticed?" he said 'Bloodclaw's' because he wasn't sure if he should refure the kits as their rogue mother's.
