One [B]old {Move}

A blanket of pure white snow covered the forest ground. Dapples of clear ice blended in across the blanket. The trees had been stripped of their leaves, and now icicles hung in their place. Sunlight bounced off the clear icicles, creating an amazingly beautiful glow.

Tiny pawprints left a trail in the snow. At the end of the trail stood Orangekit, her tail held high- well as high is it could get above the snow. The snow reached just above her belly, causing her to have to jump every step she took. Her amber eyes shined anyways. It was beautiful.

Something about the snow always made Orangekit happy. Even if snow meant leafbare, Orangekit loved it anyways. It made her feel free, serene and peaceful. The wind ruffled her fur as she padded on, not too worried that she happened to be lost.

She'd find her way back. Thunderkit or Oakkit would come find her eventually, or her aunt Shadowflower. One of them would notice she was missing- right? For a moment Orangekit wasn't sure. When she was around other cats, she was more quiet. What if they hadn't noticed her absense?

With a whimper, Orangekit's spirits drained. She walked back, following her trail, when she heard a rustle in the bushes, tensing, she turned around, and in a meak voice she mewed. "Who's there?"

The snow-covered bush near Orangekit shook and there appeared Sleepkit, a nearly apprienticed kit. " It's just me Orangekit" Sleepkit smirked. Sleepkit had been very bored in camp, with nothing to do, he decided to follow Orangekit through this snow palace he called Thunderclan territory." Wanna do something? I didn't come here for nothing"

Orangekit let out a breath of relief when Sleepkit appeared from behind the bush. She purred, flicking her tail. "Sure," Orangekit replied. "What do you wanna do?" She ruffled her pretty like ginger pelt, shaking snow off her black paws. Orangekit had just been exploring- or, in other terms, getting lost. So she was up for anything.

" OK, hmm...Let's see, what can we do...we could Hunt....or play-fight....or...Sleepkit thought hard on what to do but couldn't think of anything so, after shaking the snow off of his pelt, he said,"Let's just hunt until we can think of something, unless you have an idea cause I'm stumped."Sleepkit stood near Orangekit now and stared out into the snow and saw a vole thundering around, trying to find food."You, hungry?" Sleepkit stared at the vole completely now, and got into his hunter's crouch.

Orangekit nodded, her eyes scanning the undergrowth for any types of prey. She saw nothing, but heard the same vole Sleepkit had pointed out. She watched him get into hunter's crouch, and not wanting to interfere Orangekit stayed silent. Only her eyes moved, scanning the area for any more prey.

Sleepkit, seeing the Oangekit didn't wanto to interfere, stalked towards the vole. About two mouse-tails away, Sleepkit smelled a strange scent and stopped, only to see his prey get mauled by a small fox.Sleepkit slowly backed away from the fox, hoping not to make it weary of him. When he reached Orangekit, he snapped a twig with his hind-leg. The fox turned and saw the two kits and charged at Sleepkit.

Orangekit let out a squeak of fear, her heart pounding against her chest. Her mind screamed at her to run, but her paws felt glued to the ground as she stared into the fox's big beady black eyes. The fox appeared to be young, probably barely an adult. If that was a young fox, Orangekit never wanted to see a fully-grown one.

"R-Run!" She yowled, almost like she was yowling at her own paws. The fox had looked up from the vole and was now charging at Sleepkit. In fear, Orangekit lashed out with an unsheathed claw, hoping to catch the fox on the muzzle.

Sleepkit saw Orangekit lash out at the young fox. He pushed her aside, after she sliced the fox's muzzle, and whispered,"Get up a tree, NOW...I'll be there soon." Fear seeped into Sleepkit's fur as he thought of Orangekit being torn apart by this derranged fox. Then Sleepkit jumped at the fox and barreled it over.

Orangekit felt a wave of fear and gratitude as Sleepkit pushed her out of the way. She had felt her claws make contact with the fox's muzzle, but it didn't have any affect on it. Her heart pounded, and she found herself wishing that a warrior would come find them soon. Hearing Sleepkit's words, Orangekit froze. Leave? Hide? She didn't want to run, but hearing Sleepkit say he'd follow her made her calm down.

Slowly she nodded, climbing up the nearest tree. She sat on the lowest branch, preparing to jump down and help again if Sleepkit needed her.

Sleepkit saw Orangekit run up the tree as told, but then the battered fox latched onto Sleepkit's back making him sqeull((idk how to spell it and no spell chek)). Sleepkit fell back onto his back and felt relieved when the fox let go. In a flash, Sleepkit charged at the fox, sending clouds of snow up behind him. As he slammed into the fox, then backed off, jumped over him, slashed his forehead in mid-air and landed behind it. The blood from the fox's cut blinded the fox. So sleepkit ran up the tree to Orangekit and pressed his pelt against hers to calm her down.

Orangekit watched the battle below her, her breath caught in her throat. She didn't let that breath out until Sleepkit joined her in the tree. Her heartbeat had slowed down, now that the two of them were safe. But the fox was still below them, shaking its head to clear the blood out of its eyes.

"A-Are you ok?" She asked Sleepkit, remembering when the fox had latched onto Sleepkit's back.

"What-" Sleepkit said panting," Oh, that, I don't think so." sleepkit winced as he tryed to move his back again." I guess we can wait for it to leave....or you can have a whack at it,"Sleepkit said half-smiling half-joking.Sleepkit was glad for Orangekit's presence and warmth of her fur. Then Sleepkit walked over to the width part of the branch. Before sitting down to rest, Sleepkit suddenly fainted...

Orangekit nodded, looking at Sleepkit's back. It did look pretty bad, but she didn't say anything. At Sleepkit's words, she laughed. "Yeah, I'll take a whack at it, then it can chew me to bits!" She smiled softly, suddenly feeling better.

Orangekit watched Sleepkit walk to the wide part of the branch. She felt confused, starting to follow him. "Sleep-? before she could finish what she was saying, Sleepkit had fainted. Orangekit's eyes widened and she ran toward him, well, more like walked as quickly as she could without falling, towards him. Panting, she gentlly nudged him, barely moving him in case he fell.

"Sleepkit?" she mewed. "Sleepkit are you ok?" Her voice was shaky, and the good feeling she had felt earlier had completly vanished.

Sleepkit eyes opened very slowly, to his relief he saw Orangekit still there, not down near the fox fighting it." Sorry Orangekit, I must've lost too much blood from the wound from that no-good fox. Can you find some cobwebs and.....uh....the infection herb, if you remember it, please, it'll help."Sleepkit's voice was weak, but full. Sleepkit's tail settled on Orangekit's shoulder." You can do it. come back as soon as possible."

Orangekit felt a burst of relief as Sleepkit's eyes opened. She let out a soft purr, shaking her head. "Don't be sorry." she mewed. "I'm just glad you're ok." Orangekit felt nervous at Sleepkit's next words. In order to get cobwebs, she'd have to go down the tree, where the fox still stood. But seeing Sleepkit's wound made her remember that he already did his part in saving them, now it was her turn. Sleepkit's tail on her shoulder gave her a boost of confidence, and she nodded.

"I'll be back," she mewed in a soft voice. Carefully Orangekit climbed down the tree, keeping a weary eye on the fox. It had recovered from it's earlier incident, its eyes now scanning the area for the two kits.

Curse this stupid ginger pelt! she thought to herself when she realized that she didn't really blend in. She'd have to be cautious. Watching the fox with every step she took, Orangekit came to a wad of cobweb. She picked it up, her eyes scanning the area for Marigold, but seeing none. She prayed that these cobwebs would be enough.

Slowly she turned, her paws as light as the wind. Carefully she started to climb back up the tree, when she heard a low growl. Before Orangekit could react, she felt the fox's teeth grip her tail. She let out a yowl of surprise and fear, slashing blindly with her claws as she was dragged back down. Somehow she managed to make contact with the fox's muzzle, and it let go. But not without Orangekit losing just the tip of her tail. She didn't care though.

Orangekit scrambled up the tree, ignoring the burning pain she felt in her tail. She got onto the branch Sleepkit was on, bringing him the cobwebs. Panting, she started to place them on the wounds, not saying anything at first.

Sleepkit saw Orangekit's little expedition and praised Starclan for her courage.Sleepkit purred as Orangekit put the cobwebs onto his back." You ok, you seem silent"then Sleepkit's voice turned fierce,"Did that mouse-brained fox hurt you!I swear to Starclan, if that fox did anything I'm going to shred it!" Sleepkit shot back against the tree's main trunk and almost pushed Orangekit off the tree.

He has opened his wounds with his fierce comment." Sorry, I should've killed the thing when i could, then we could just walk out of here." Sleepkit's eyed turned guiltfull."It's my fault...

Orangekit continued to place the cobwebs on Sleepkit's back, hoping they could get back to camp soon so a proper medicine cat could look at the wound. All Orangekit really knew was that Marigold was for infection, and cobwebs to stop bleeding. But it would have to be enough for now, until the stupid fox left them alone.

" You ok, you seem silent"

Orangekit opened her mouth to reply, suddenly feeling her tail sting again. The fox had took a good bit off, leaving her with basically half a tail. She just now realized how bad it was stinging. Blood trickled from the wound, but it wasn't too serious yet.

Orangekit flinched at Sleepkit's suddenly feirce words, stumbling as he jerked back and hit the tree trunk. She gripped the branch with her claws, regaining her balance before heading toward Sleepkit again. He'd re-opened his wounds. Looking back, Orangekit saw they still had a little more cobwebs. She gripped them again, bringing them toward where she and Sleepkit stood.

"Sorry, I should've killed the thing when i could, then we could just walk out of here. It's my fault..."

Orangekit shook her head, smiling reassuringly. She set the cobwebs down so she could speak.

"It's not your fault," she mewed. "I'm fine. You did your best, and probably saved my life." she smiled again, hoping that Sleepkit didn't feel guilty. Carefully she started to put the cobwebs on his back again.

Sleepkit spat under his breath," Yeah, but my best got me shredded and your tail eaten in half"Sleepkit calmed down, a little, still furiated at the fox." Yes, thanks for the cobwebs, I'm getting better"

Sleepkit leaned up against Orangekit's side after she put on the cobwebs again." You'd make a great meddie cat," Sleepkit joked. Then,Sleepkit laughed to himself." Just think, this morning we were out to you know have some fun, now im beaten up, your getting tired, I think. So, you wanna stay here for the night? That fox isn't going to leave any time soon." Before Orangekit could answer, Sleepkit curled up into a ball right by Orangekit's paws.

Orangekit smiled down at Sleepkit as he curled at her paws. She looked down, seeing the fox looking up at them with its big, black eyes. It licked its lips, almost as if it wanted more kitten to eat for dinner. Orangekit shuddered, laying down beside Sleepkit. He was right, the fox obviously wasn't gonna leave any time soon. It made her nervous. One of them could easilly roll off the tree in their sleep, and be torn to shreds by the fox before they even hit the ground.

"I guess we should go to sleep here," she half mewed, half yawned. Her eyes closed, but her ears stayed open. If she heard a patrol coming, she wouldn't hesitate to call for help. Sleepkit needed a medicine cat to look at his wounds, and Orangekit had a feeling that her tail wouldn't heal on its own either.

Sleepkit yawned as he woke up on the branch. The sun shining over the horizon, making his pelt glow. He got up, shook the snow and walked over to Orangekit to wake her up, but he decided that she deserved a good sleep, so Sleepkit went to see if the fox was still there. As he looked over the branch he could see a small fragment of red fur poking out of the glistening snow. It's sleeping! Maybe we can escape now.He went over to Orangekit to wake her and tell her that they can leave now but, on the way there, he tripped and fell face forward onto Orangekit...

Orangekit's eyes opened, finding herself on the ground below the tree. She staggered to her paws, shaking the frosty white flecks off her pelt. She looked around, expecting to see Sleepkit somewhere. But she didn't see him- or the fox, for that matter. Confused, Orangekit looked up into the tree.

"Sleepkit?" she called softly. Had she been so mouse-brained as to fall out of the tree? Sleepkit was probably up there, laughing at her for falling. Then again, Sleepkit didn't seem like he would do that. But then again, again, it was a funny situation to fall out of a tree. Sort of...

A low growling caught her attention, and Orangekit turned to come face to face with the fox again. She let out a yowl of fear, batting at it with unsheathed claws. She had no affect. Orangekit watched at the fox raised it's paw, and brought it crashing down onto her...

Orangekit let out a frightened yowl as she felt something slam into her. She scrambled to her paws, her eyes wide with fright and her breath coming out in quick gasps. It was then that she saw that somehow, Sleepkit had fallen onto her. She relaxed, her breath slowing.

"What's going on?" she asked.

Sleepkit's cheeks turned hot with embarrassment." Sorry, I was going to wake you to tell you that the fox is asleep, so we might be able to leave, but.....I-I'll fell on you." Sleepkit stared at his paws for a moment then said softly,"You remind me of a cat, we use to play together, but..." Tears welled up in Sleepkit's eyes as he remembered that Eclipsekit, his beloved, left to go to Windclan about a moon ago. Sleepkit turned away, hoping that Orangekit didn't see him cry.

Orangekit laughed. "It's ok, so if the fox is asleep we should-" she stopped, suddenly seeing the pain emerge in Sleepkit's eyes. She felt confused, watching as he stared at his paws.

"You remind me of a cat, we use to play together, but..."

Orangekit looked at Sleepkit in surprise, and her eyes turned pained. She saw, just barely, the tears come into her friend's eyes before he turned away. She desperately wanted to comfort him, but had no clue how. Catiously she pressed her pelt against his in a comforting way. She didn't say anything.

Sleepkit didn't mind Orangekit trying to comfort him." I should've put her past me but, I can't." Sleepkit said crying. Sleepkit stood motionless for a minute or two, thankful for Orangekit's presence." Ok, let's get down past the fox so we can get out of here." Sleepkit said still sobbing.

He smirked then said staring at Orangekit's eyes," Heh, I bet you think cats like me can't cry...but everybodies got a weakness, I bet you think I'm a wimp now, the other kits would."Sleepkit then jumped down to the ground, hoping not to disturb the fox, then waited for Orangekit.

Orangekit tried to smile reassuringly, but she couldn't. She had no idea how to comfort her friend. She shuffled her paws nervously.

"I don't think you're a whimp," she mewed quietly. "You're right, everyone has a weakness. No one can help it." she smiled. "Hey, I bet those other kits have cried too. If they say they haven't, don't believe them."

Orangekit jumped to the ground beside Sleepkit, landing on shaky paws. Her eyes darted to the fox nervously, remembering the nightmare she had moments ago. But she shook the thought away. It was just a nightmare, she'd be fine. Right now she just wanted to get her and Sleepkit back to camp.

"Come on," she whispered, not taking her eyes off the fox. "I bet the camp's gone hectic looking for us." Again she smiled, wanting to lighten up the mood.

Sleepkit wanted to yell at Orangekit and say, Yea! Those kits cry when there cold, they've never actually loved someone before and then have that someone go away.but Sleepkit thought better of it." Yeah we can get back."

Sleepkit whispered." But, if that fox wakes...run as fast as you can, cause I wanna kill him," Sleepkits fury only worsened the hatred for the beast. As he passed, he thought he saw the creature move.

So Sleepkit whispered to Orangekit," I think he's waking...if he does...you know what to do." Sleepkit's eyes were filled with anger, his blue eyes looking as if fire has engulfed them.

"I'm not running," Orangekit growled. She nodded towards Sleepkit. "You're hurt, if you stay I stay." Orangekit looked toward the fox, watching as it made another movement. She visibly tensed, her gaze moving toward her tail. It renewed her with a new fury. Orangekit watched the fox. Once it was still again, they'd be able to move. But she didn't wanna turn her back on it until she was sure it was still asleep.

Sleepkit was surprised by Orangekit's new fury." Good, I thought you would, mayb we should just kill it now, so that no one in the clan gets hurt by it."Sleepkit was ready to finish this. He pressed his muzzle against Orangekit's pelt." Let's kill it..." Sleepkit said slyly. Just then the fox jumped up and pinned Sleepkit to the ground.

Orangekit smiled and nodded, watching the fox with observing eyes. She felt a burst of shock as the fox lunged, nothing but a red flash, and pinned Sleepkit to the ground. Not hesitating, Orangekit let out a furious hiss and lunged for the fox, knocking it off Sleepkit and tackling it to the ground. She had it pinned for all of one moment before it kicked up with powerful legs, sending Orangekit flying.

Orangekit landed hard on her side, staggering to her paws. She felt dizzy, but pushed the thought away. She was enraged, she was furious. The fox would die, even if she died with it.

" Nooooooooooooo!"Sleepkit yelled as the fox flung Orangekit across the clearing. Sleepkit charged at the fox with the speed of Lionclan and headbutted the fox onto his side, exposing his underbelly.

Sleepkit let no time slip...1 second past....Sleepkit sliced open the fox's belly and screamed, Thats for Orangekit... 2 seconds past....Sleepkit clawed furiosly at the fox's belly again, Thats for me... 3 seconds past..the body of the fox grew limp.Sleepkit got up and ran over to Orangekit." You, okay? Sleepkit said while trying to get the fox blood off of him.
