Looking for Turtlepelt (Turtle&Meer)

[glow=red,2,300]The wind howled at the pregnant black she-cat and cut through her thin fur like a knife as she walked fast as she could through the long grasses. Her swollen belly kept reminding her that she shoudln't be out here, but she needed to be. Wanted to be.

It was only a few hours after Cinderwing had told her about her old appretnice, Turtlepelt, and how she had left to become a loner. She was devastated by the fact, and wanted to know why. She had promised Cinderwing she wouldn't go, but she had to. She had to know why.

Why did she leave? Why now? Why after the war they had worked so hard to win? So many questions, and no answers.

The wind buffeted her small body, almost knocking her over. The second gust succeeded, and she fell to the ground with a squeak. The sun was setting; she couldn't get back to camp now. So she just lay there, waiting for someone to find her, not caring who.[/glow]

As the sun was in the sky like pink champaigne, glowering over the horizon that was made from a series of jagged peaks. Meer glided over the ground as her feet restlessly ran into Thundeclan territory. For some reason, Meer had become fond of it. A place to find more cats to torture, or recruit.

Wind flew abut the area, pounding against Meer's frail body. Having three legs, it was hard enough to keep balance without the wind turning on her too. Meer grumbled to herself angrily. Everything turned on her, she never knew when, but it would, it always did.

Her eye scanned the area around her, and her ears were limp against her head like a puppy's. She waited every now and again, her friend, Turtle, was trailing along, but Meer knew not where.[/shadow]

[glow=red,2,300]Pawsteps soon reached her ears; what was happening? Darkness would soon shroud her; a loner or a rogue was better than nothing. "Who's there?" she called out. "Help, please!"[/glow]

[Meerful]

Meer heard nothing, not the wind, the forest music, and not the cat in need. Despite this, she felt the vibrations of heavy life. Meer rushed towards the noise and spoke softly. "Are you ok?"

[glow=red,2,300]"No!" snapped the impatient cat. She breathed a deep sigh; being mad wouldn't get her help. "Who are you?"[/glow]

[Meerful]

Meer paused a moment. A Thunderclan cat..."I'm Meer...Who are you?" She mewed. She bent down beside the cat to help.

[glow=red,2,300]"N...Nightfur," mewed the she-cat. "Now...can you help me up? Please? I'm pregnant."[/glow]

[Meerful]

Meer nodded. "I can telll, you're all plump, if you dont mind my satying." Meer said, ofering her shoulder for support.

[glow=red,2,300]With a weak smile Nightfur stood, leaning heavily on Meer. "Thanks," she meowed. "No, I don't mind. I'm looking for a friend of mine. Turtlepelt? Do you know her?"[/glow]

Meer's tongue felt like a not, and her stomoch turned. "Er....Yes, I do. She's my friend, and my ally." Meer said. She began to paw the ground. A breze passed by and ran icy fingers through her fur.

[glow=red,2,300]Nightfur's heart jumped to her throat. "Really? Where is she?" The wind disappeared for her; hope filled her eyes.[/glow]

"She's back in loner territory, she's with me...Are you Nightfur?" Meer asked.

"Oh sorry, I didn't hear you I guess. Well, she decided that she didn't want to be in Thundercln anymore and she joined me." Meer mewed.

Meer shrugged. "I asked her if she wanted to. I told her about how I lived and about the clans." Meer's eyes shined with hate. "I hate the clans!"

Turtle held her nose to the ground, picking up her friend Meer's scent trail as she walked along. Coming near a closed off area surronded by brambles, Turtle picked up a familliar scent. As she recognized the scent, her eyes widened in astonishment."Nightfur!" she said outloud. after a moment, she pushed her way through the thicket to find her old mentor weak and lying on the ground, heavy with pregnancy. Letting out a purr, she walked over to the black cat and pressed her muzzle to her fur, murmuring, "Nightfur, what happened?". Concern filled her green eyes as she looked into Nightfur's.

[glow=red,2,300]Nightfur was about to answer Meer when Turtlepelt's scent wafted over her nose. "Turtlepelt!" she cried out happily, and swung around to face her. She buried her face in her old apprentice's familiar pelt and she felt like crying, but didn't. Then she looked up. "I have some questions," she said, joy filling her eyes. "But first...can we get to someplace safe? Ill need to go back in the morning."[/glow]

Meer nodded. "It's Turtle now." She saud quietly before supporting the she cat. Mer winced. One of her ribs were broken from a meeting she had with a Thunderclan cat. Her breaths became weezing and she started to gasp for air. "Sorry, my rib is piercing my lung at the minute. I got in a fight" She weezed. She still managed to support the hreavy she cat.

Concern filled Turtle's eyes yet again as Meer said this. Meer was recovering from her rib, but she still didn't need to break it further. Nosing Meer gently for comfort, she helped support her old mentor before murmuring to her, "How do you feel Nightfur, do you want me to go fetch you some poppy seed?" she asked. She wasn't claiming to be a Medicine Cat, but it was really common sense among most cats that Poppy Seed helped a cat sleep and relieved pain.

[glow=red,2,300]"I'm fine!" insisted Nightfur. "Turtle." She had shed her warrior name--no going back now. But that doesn't mean that she can't ask her question. "Can we please go now? I need to rest."[/glow]

Turtle nodded and quickly looked around the clearing for shelter. seeing a large hollow in a knot of twisted tree roots, Turtle carefully left Nightfur and Meer's sides to go inspect it and determine if it was fit for a den for the night. As her paws hit the bottom of the hollow, she saw that a little stream of water trickled steadily into a corner, providing a good source of water. The floor of the hollow was sturdy, but it needed bedding like heather, which wasn't a problem, because Turtle could go and fetch some. As Turtle looked up, she saw the roots of the tree protected the from wind in rain. Jumping out, she made her decision, that was where they should sleep for the night. "Nightfur, over here, I've found a good place to sleep." she mewed softly as she reached her friend. Resting her tail tip on Nightfur's shoulder, she led her over to the hollow. "I'll be right back, I just have to go get some heather and moss." With one last concerned look at Nightfur, she dashed off again to find some bedding.

[glow=red,2,300]Nightfur gratefully let Turtle lead her over, and she floppe donto her side with a sigh of relief. This was the cat she knew, the cat she had taught. But why was she looking at her all strangely? "Stop looking at me like my kits are going to pop out any moment!" she called at to her searching friend. "I'm not due for another few dawns, Dreamheart said so! I know I said after," she said, more quietly, to her stomach, "But this is more fun, isn't it?"[/glow]

Turtle sighed when she heard Nightfur and flicked her tail in aknowledment of the comment. A little ways off, she found a large clump of dry heather and began carefully ripping it of the ground with her claws. After several trips, she had enough moss for Nightfur, Meer, and herself, making sure to give each cat a fairly large amount of bedding. Settling into her den, Turtle sighed with relief. Her eyes warm, she licked Nightfurs ear. "So how are you?" she asked, warmth in her voice too.

[glow=red,2,300]"Other than the pregnant thing? I'm fine," Nightfur meowed, settling into her moss. It felt good to rest. "And you? How are you liking being a loner?"[/glow]

Turtle nodded, glad that her friend was ok. "Its good, but I do miss my friends, including you." she replied, hoping that Nightfur wasn't mad at her for leaving ThunderClan. Sighing, she rest her tail around her body, and tucked her striped paws neatly under her.

[glow=red,2,300]Nightfur was silent for a little while. Should she ask her now? "I...I want to know something, Turtle," she mewed. "It's simple, really. Why?"[/glow]

Turtle sighed after Nightfur asked the question, her mind lingering on the phrase, 'its simple really.' after what seemed like moons, Turtle replied. "No, its hard to explain but I will anyways. I felt like I wasn't needed in the clans, the only real friend I had was you, but then I met Meer, she was hostile at first, but then we got to know each other and became good friends. I knew I wouldn't be able to see Meer because I had to put the clan first and ignore Meer, but I couldn't do that to a friend, so I decided to leave, it was a hard decision, knowing I'd leave behind everything I had once known, but I went through it, and here I am now." she replied, taking a long breath after she finished.

[glow=red,2,300]Nightfur nodded. "I wouldn't expect less from you, Turtle," she said quietly. "I...I was shocked, when Cinderwing told me. Angry, at first, too--I thought, if I had just noticed it quicker, you would still be at camp, you'd still be my apprentice, and we'd still be training." She sniffed back the tears that totured her eyes. "You'll be sorely missed, by all of us. Especially Cloudstorm." She laughed nervously, remembering. "You saved her from Shadowkit, remember? Before he killed her. She still has the scar, down her belly. She owes you for that."[/glow]
