Midnight, Starbright [Anyone]

[Nightfur and Co.]

Midnight sat with her tail wrapped around her front paws, staring out over the moorland. Sadness creeped into her warm spring coat as she thought of her brother, Silver; news of his death had carried over the winter, as well as the death of one of their best feiends and his sweetheart, Dale. She had lived next door to them...when she was a kittypet.

But she wasn't a kittypet anymore. Two moons of training and eating like a loner had made her lean and strong; her pelt was sleek and shiny, and she had grown bigger. It had been a long time since she had been the soft house kitten who ate out of a bowl and played with fake mice.

Sorrowheart was a great teacher, Skull never around. Aunt Meer was her best friend when she wanted to be. SHe had chosen a good life.

But doubt had decided to make its way into her heart. Skull was planning something bad, and she didn't know if it was right or not. Was she supposed to be evil, too?

Sakura walked slowly across the clearing. No prey was in her jaws, a bad hunt today. An unfarmilliar scent wafted into her nostrils. She stalked forward carefully. Peering through a bush, she saw a young cat.
"Hello" Sakura mewed stepping out of the bush.

[Nightfur and Co.]

MIdnight's eyes flicked over her shoulder. No happiness in her eyes, like there had been in the old days. "Hello," she mewed quietly. She tried a smile, but failed; a second try brought only a grimace. She ended up giving up and just looked at the new arrival. "Who're you?" she asked, narrowing her green eyes.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

"I am Sakura" Sakura mewed softly "And you are?" Sakura's blue eye and gray eye narrowed. Why was this cat sad? Sakura walked closer.

[Nightfur and Co.]

"Midnight." The black she-cat found herself scooting away a pawstep; she was too close. "It's...it's ncie to meet you, Sakura." What was wrong with her? She was usually so friendly; had being a loner made her. . . lonely. So why was she scooting away?

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura stopped. Clearly the cat was uncomfortable.

"Is something bugging you Midnight?" Sakura asked.

[Burningwing]

[glow=white,2,300]" Nothing is bothering her Sakura."

A voice rattled from the trees, but it's voice origion was unknown. It was like a voice that the whole territory had whispered, seeming to answer for itself. The trees crakled and howled in the wind until, it ended in a slight breeze, shallow, but warning. There was no need to say or bother anymore questions aboout it. Skull was on the prowl.

Sakura looked around. Who said that? Her pelt bristled and her hackles raised as she spun around.

"Who said that?!" She growled.

[Nightfur and Co.]

Midnight's ears pricked. She wasn't bothered in the slightest. Instead, she answered, "Of course, Skull." The voice still gave her the chills, though. She could feel that cursed tail of his against her pelt; the bony, white tail.

She shook her head clear. "You get used to it," she mewed sadly. "His name's Skull. I'm part of his Clan." Which is probably the reason I'm sad, she thought.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura relaxed a little, but still stayed catious.

"Ok..." She mewed nervously.

[fireice]

Fireice stayed crouched in the brambles. So that is the nefarious Skull, Fireice thought hauntingly. He sounds terrible, that hint of evil in his voice. I can sense his hatred and rage, dark...evil. She narrowed her sightless eyes and kept listening, hoping to pick up more information. Her eplt bristled, she didn't know why, but something was wrong, and a dreadful thing was going to happen at any second. She could feel the tension in the air, like the odor of a twoleg monster, thick and unknown. She gasped and Fireice gritted her teeth in worry, raying to StarClan that she wasn't heard.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura's good ear heard a cat gasp in the bushes. She could tell by the voice it wasn't Skull.

"Midnight" She mewed "Someone else is here"

[fireice]

Fireice stiffened, Mouse-dung! I've been detected! She snarled and pummeled out of the bushes, claws unsheathed, fangs bared, and snarling as if the whole of StarClan was on her side. She surprisingly was good at directing towards Skull, even through her blindness. Fireice's eyes were only slits and they were burning with a great, raging fire. Then, she remembered the prophecy, Bones upon the land will bring out a great mighty wave of blood.
The skeleton of a cat stands.
He will bring the death.
That'll bear upon you all.
Fireice stopped her attack a few mousetails beofre Skull's face. She stood there, a growl rumbling in her throat. She wasn't scared of Skull, she hated him! Fear wasn't even an option for Fireice. She was fierce and it had not wavered since she became blind. Skull, the bones of a cat. That name, it explains alot. I wasn't supposed to hear that premonition, but Skull was. It's his fault I'm now blind! She could smell the fear scent and the mixture of fear and anger from both the other cats. Fireice tried to read Skull's feelings, but they were hidden by a veil of shadows.

Sakura sat motionless. She watched the cat go towards Skull, no fear in her eyes. Sakura watched, interested.

[Burningwing]

Skull stepped out of a ragged stretch of bracken, his bone-white fur glistening with dew droplets and his ocean blue and dull ice blue eyes narrowed suspiciosly at the opposing cat. Her fur was also ragged and clumped, and with sightless grey eyes that seemed to drill into his. Remember Shard? She was powerful and with no sight...A thought fished itself into his head and it stayed there warningly. His tail was not seen yet, and Fireice didn't know about the secret weapon that brought fear and disbelief to unecspeting eyes as they drew there last breath, then got strips of their own hide ripped off in chunks. " Hello Midnight," he greeted the young black cat formally. Then he turned back to Fireice.

His eyes were swimming pools of death, staring deep inside the enemy cat. His black patches around his eyes like dark pits and his black nose, mouth line and ear tufts made him look all the more like a skeleton, with a bone tail and black pads and claws which measured around 5 inches. " Are you sure you want to fight me clan kitty?" he sneered." You have to now, your time is up." With that, in a quick movement like that of a hummingbirds wings, he lashed forward and dug his claws on both sides of Fireice's head. If there was fear in her eye, he didn't see it, and with that, he pulled her head forward and hurled her back ward, blood running over her fur.[/glow]

Sakura winced. Half of her wanted to fight, but the other half wanted to live. She couldn't risk fighting. But she glared at Skull, fear creeping up her spine.

"Stop..." She growled.

[Nightfur and Co.]

It was her duty to either stay out of the way or get into the fight. She had learned early on that with Skull, unless he called on you, you should stay out of the way. Midnight turned so she could watch, remembering the Clan cat they had jumped while he had trained her to be merciless. She hadn't wanted to; he hadn't let her hunt for three days before she said she would. It had only been an apprentice.

With a shake of her head and a flcik of her ears she closed a door on those memories. Memories made you weak. You couldn't trust the past. "Stay out of it, Sakura," she mewed quietly. "If he wants you dead, you die. The best way to stay alive is to listen to him." And play along.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura growled softly but did as she was told. She knew she would never win a fight against Skull. Still she felt a burning anger inside her. She decided that if he attacked again, she would fight.

[Meerful]

Appearing form between canopy of willow tree boughs, Meer cleared her rthroat to announce her arrival. "Hello, Sakura, Skull, Midnight" Meer smiled the last word. Midnight was the best neice she'd ever had. At least she wasn't afraid of her. "Skull, nice to see you here." She dipped her head to him.

Niche had followed his mother through the trees, and jumped out, hopign to suprise everyone.
"Hey!" He mewed cheerfully, but the atmosphere tasted glum.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura jumped. Niche and Meer had arrived. Sakura was still glaring at Skull. What right did he have to hurt Fireice like that? She wanted to attack, but stayed calm.

"Hi Meer, hi Niche" She mewed calmly.

[Meerful]

Meer nodded, turning to Skull, eyebrow raised.
"IS there a problem?" She mewed calmly, ignoring protests form Auseek, her mental pest.

Niche sauntered over to Sakura, hiding his crooked grin.
"You know, maybe you shouldn't be in such a dangerous place." He smiled. Despite the situation, he's one of those cats who can fit a smile in any predicament.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura growled playfully. She looked around. Was anyone going to help Fireice? Sakura sighed and laid down to rest, her leg getting tired.

[Meerful]

Niche glanced at Fireice. He had no idea who this cat was, and according to Niche, it shouldn't be his problem.
"Skull, hey hey now, let's not get feisty with the clan kitties, they're weaklings, we should let the poor guy go." Niche looked at Skull sternly. Of course, Skull could probably kill him, but Meer would die trying to save Niche if she had to. Niche eyed Skull specualtively.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura looked up, worried. Hadn't Midnight just told her to stay out of the way? Was Niche doing the smart thing here? She walked over to him.

"Are you sure you should've done that?" Sakura whispered so only Niche could hear.

[Meerful]

Niche nodded, waiting for Skull's response. If Skull attacked him, it would not save face, where was the honor in defeating a cat who was almost a cat who had defied Skull? There was nothing that could save face, unless he went along with it.

[Wait for Skull now]

[fireice]

Fireice didn't even make a noise. Then, she smelled Meer. The she-cat that had once been her acquaintance for so long. Fireice gritted her teeth and dug her claws in the ground. Fireice flung her powerful and broad head up. The strengthed muscles of hers screamed in pain and she flung Skull up into the air. Fireice could feel the blood pouring out of her wounds into her eyes and she blinked the rustic smeeling liquid out of her gray eyes. She called the battle cry and jumped into the air and swiped at Skull.

[glow=white,2,300]As Skull flew up into the air, any cat could see the boredom in his deathly eyes. This battle was already won to him, he was doing this only for the fun, only for the taste of cat blood seeping into his mouth. He didn't open his mouth usually. Only a tint to speak. Even to yowl he didn't really open his jaws all the way. Not to bite, not the howl, not anything. But he might be opening his jaws soon. As Fireice came pummeling for him, reaching out to swipe him, his right paw darted out and gripped her leg with black claws. Then forcefully, he whipped around and slammed the Shadowclan into the large weeping willow tree that was shrouded by bushes, hollows and boulders. Then he calmly licked of his claws, his eyes narrowed in delight of the taste of his victim. " Why don't you run along now claner?"[/glow]

[Nightfur and Co.]

MIdnight turned her head away. No... Visions of her friend Ginger, being mauled and hurt...of her brother running of with Skull...of watching her brother and his mate die--

"Skull, stop!" she cried, feeling tears prick her emotionless eyes. "Leave...leave her alone! She didn't do anything to you, leave Fireice alone!" She didn't even notice Aunt Meer or Niche.

[Cinder.and.Flightfall]

Sakura growled again at Skull. Again, part of her wanted to fight, but her leg was also an issue. It still had occasional pains, she would be taking a risk. Sakura felt herself bristling.

"Yeah" She growled "Stop"

[fireice]

Fireice was stunned and could hear Midnight yell at Skull to stop. Fireice would never back down and would not absolutely not let Skull see her pain. Then, Fireice thought of her last move that would possibly trick Skull. This was her last chance. Fireice got up, a bone cracked in her side and she didn't even wince. "I'll never let you destroy me. And, when I die I'll make sure that I die with honor unlike you!" She lept at him.
